Numbers in brackets with spell's items

Unread post by tribunal »

Hello there . I need explanation about numbers in brackets for spell items, potions and scrolls . For example there is scroll or potion with Bull's Strength. And at the end of description there is number in bracket ( 15 ) . Got that for invisibility too , just there is a number (3) . And both spells came from the same circle of magic . So, what is a catch ? Probably my question is ''nooby'' but I can't figure out , so thx for any help ...

It is usually the level of the spell that it was cast. Like a Potion of Cats Grace (3) would give you the effect of a Cat's Grace cast by a level 3 caster.
Catherine Chant - Healer of Ilmater - Returned from her pilgrimage.
Alex Adriale - Paladin of Torm. Who knows where she is.
Lilia deVelose - Merchant from Amn - Cold for all eternity.
Aia Nar'Thil - Frozen Dharashan - At peace in the Misty Forest
Grey - Gone off on her own adventure

Thanks for your answer . I was supposing it was that . But when i am making scroll , numbers will be placed randomly ? I made a potion of invisibility ( 3) and bull's strength (15) . And i made them when my char. was the same level . So, i can't control those numbers ? I can't control what CL they will be ? They will be randomly putted ? As the bigger number i get there, the more golds are spend , and sometimes i really don't want to have scroll or potion of bull's strength 15 CL ...

Its not "random", it's preset. The items exist in the loot-table at a certain caster level.

Brew Potion:

Craft Wand:

The resulting item CL is predetermined

Remember that the caster level signed on such items like wands, potions of x/day spell items affects only the duration and the inner spell variables, but not the CL, since the CL of your spell will depend on your character level. A bull's strenght (15) casted by a level 30 toon will last 15 minutes but will count as casted by a level 30 caster, so hardly dispellable.
Remember them all it's just a game.
