DM Boo's Events

Quote: *Squeak* Boo says that he was just doing his job.
Mission: To bring the region of the Forgotten Realms alive.

Here are some things to remember during my events (or even out of them):
If you feel you deserve an event, you probably do. If you've got an interesting idea, wish for some help with your character's story direction, or you are with a RPing party and are generally bored, feel free to send me a Tell. Or, if you need help with more long-term story plots, PM me if you wish for my assistance.

RP is Key: In-character RP will be rewarded in all of my events.
Quote: OH! Well then, by all means! And yes, very little requirements. Food, shelter, and perhaps the little wheel. I have heard nothing but good things about the little wheel.
Open-ended: All of my events are open ended. I will reward players who show good initiative.

Patience: Be patient and do not rush. Give me time to organize what is going on. Do not roam ahead, unless I know you are doing it, and give other players time to respond. If you wish to do something out of the group, let me know beforehand so I can keep track of it. Contrary to what you might think, Boo is not omniscient.

Interaction: If I do not respond to your request, chances are I missed it in the chaos of text a DM is spammed with. Feel free to ask again if it did not work out the first time.

When in a DM event, always use Party Chat.

Death: I will let you know what is allowed during an event. Generally, Raise Dead and Resurrection are allowed.

Resting: Do not rest unless permitted.

Feedback: I am always open to feedback for my events, good or otherwise.
Quote: Of course. Boo is special among his kind, and quite resilient. Have I mentioned he is a miniature giant space hamster? I'm sure I have.
A DM event is a living organism, a symbiotic relationship between Players and DM. When it succeeds, both the DM and the players are having a good time. This becomes noticeable when the event throws away the initial awkwardness and begins to run more smoothly. Keep this in mind while going forward into an event.

Most of all, enjoy!

Howls in the night signalled the presence of wolves within the deeper reaches of the Cloakwood forest. Who or what they were calling to was never known, but the howls attracted a group of adventurers to come and investigate - although, wolf howls coming from the woods at night is barely an unusual thing. Those unfortunate enough to arrive beforehand inevitably joined the bloodshed which they found to lay at the feet of the wolves - which turned out to be not wolves, but worgs. Their bodies too were gnawed upon by the feasting creatures. When the adventurers arrived to the scene they found a massacre, the pack of hungry worgs feeding upon the flesh of many creatures, beast and humanoid alike.

Helped by a little tact and stealth on the part of the adventurers, some of the druids were able to approach the worgs without incident. This is, until the adventurers ignored the worg's warnings, coming too close. The worgs attacked and were slaughtered, their bodies to join the rest of the carnage. What was first thought to be the wolves' work, was soon found to be something else unexpected. The worgs were merely feeding upon the bodies, drawn by the decaying stench. The true culprit of the massacre is, as of yet, still unknown.

The bodies (and grass, plants, and insects) were disintegrated by acid, leaving the earth barren and bare, void of life.

The incessant moans of protest and suffering, within a haunted Crypt in the Fields of the Dead, were eerily missing. Earlier, the ring of steel against steel had echoed through the dark tunnels as a group comprised of unlikely allies had taken up collective arms against the Dread Lord residing within a realm of endless night and undiluted evil.

Three bloodied warriors and a priestess limped out of the Crypt, its ancient door hanging ajar to the hell hole that they had just barely managed to leave alive. This day, the ever rising population of the Fields of the Dead, had suffered a dent to their ranks. The Dread Lord vanquished and his minions destroyed.

But the next group of adventures, who set their eyes on the Fields of the Dead… might just as well bolster its ranks again, with their own bodies.

A well-seasoned adventurer stopped by the campfire and cooked a meal. He told those who gathered of his quest to find a ruin hidden deep within the Cloakwood, which, so it was rumoured, was known to house a powerful, as of yet unclamed artifact. The artifact, or so the rumors said, was known to emit a radius of pure evil - a compelling force which would draw toward it powerful undead. Their reasons their own, a group of adventurers offered to accompany the adventurer on his quest, with the goal to destroy this evil. Once they were inside the structure of the ruins, the pull of the evil was instantly recognizable, causing several of the companions to begin to act strangely. When they finally arrived at the central chamber to destroy the artifact once and for all, they were beset upon by its undead guardians. Several in the party turned against their fellows to join the side of the undead, in a confusing and gigantic battle, no-one knowing who their allies were. When the dust finally cleared, the adventurer and many who accompanied him lay dead on the floor. Attempts to raise him failed, but they found a mysterious shield lying on his corpse.

The chill of the coming winter hung heavily in the air, but the bite of frost was not enough to put off the eager adventurers from picking their way through the barrage of hill giants which assaulted them in the Nashkel foothills. The two fought through the giants effortlessly, until they came across an enemy which neither of them had ever seen before --- A large white bear.

-----

Some time later, a large party was gathered on the slopes of the Cloudpeak mountains, looking for a sign of the rare bear. When all seemed lost, the husky roar of a bear could be heard through the developing snowstorm, leading the adventurers to the east. Through the curtains of snow the large white bear lumbered, and the beast, not interested in attacking the adventurers, was instead intent on seeking out and digging for something lost in the snow. The adventurers followed the tracks of the bear for a while, before the tracks were lost to the snowstorm.

A while later the snow had stopped, but it had left deep snowdrifts before the adventurers. The night was swiftly approaching, and so the bear-hunters sought for a place to make their camp. While traversing the deep drifts, they briefly caught a glimpse of their quarry as it disappeared into the growing fog. Following it, the party came to an encampment with a peculiar arctic druid. After a discussion with the arctic druid, in which he revealed the bears were his, he allowed the adventurers to share his camp. He began to tell them of an ancient artifact which he sought while they were gathered around the campfire - until some among the party's number insulted him, at which point he refused to speak of the matter any further, ultimately asking for the ingrate party to leave. The only thing they were able to gain in the end was an old riddle: "What was lost was found, and what was found was lost again".

Some passing adventurers helped a merchant to recapture some chickens that had, with a squawk and a flurry of feathers, escaped from a crate when it flew out of the wagon and shattered upon impact with the ground when the merchant's wagon hit a stone. After chasing the chickens all night, the last of the feathery fugitives was finally secured.

A patch of dried blood is all that remains to mark the spot in Soubar where a scuffle broke out between some visitors and the locals. A local half-orc leaves the scene wondering exactly what happened during the entire ordeal. He is absolutely sure of one thing, though. He doesn't feel like laughing about chickens telling stories anymore.

Splendors of Waterdeep

Sunset sent long, clawing shadows along the ground as the wagon slowly wended its way through the cursed land of the Fields of the Dead, the tendrils creeping forward like so many skeletal fingers stretching across the field. The wagon and its hired guards moved slowly across the path, the adventurers taking to the lead, horse nervously pulling the wagon along behind them. Every single one of the party was nervous - cautiously looking all around. For behind the hillocks behind their small party lurked the armies of the dead. Soon after, eerie quietness erupted into chaos as undead hordes hiding among the recesses of the hillocks began pouring out onto the battlefield, presenting a formidable challenge and pressing upon the caravan and its guards from both sides. Among them, two ancient skeletal mages in tattered rags. The battle barely won, the caravan master Duncan Miraster among the dead and wounded, the heroic survivors prayed to their gods and brought several of their number to life before once more wearily stumbling forward.

Darkness descended and hours passed as the fields turned into moorlands of heather. The adventurers lead the wagon along the Trade Way for many days as it sloped and turned and their journey lead them past the High Moors and past Dragonspear Castle. To the west of Dragonspear Castle they were ambushed by a band of raiding drow, wolves, and strange, tentacled creatures.

Their progress continued unabated by the drow's attempt to sack the caravan, the weary adventurers valiantly fought on, and they finally gazed upon the town of Daggerford. There, after a brief stopover for revitalization, and eager to complete the last leg of their journey, the band of adventurers once more took off of their journey.

Days later, with the sun shining brightly down upon them, they were met by the sight of the Ardeep Forest. The western edge of road grew thick with trees, the green forest providing an easy, but much needed, last leg of their journey. Clearing the path of the few wild animals foraging along the road, the caravan soon came across the rolling farmlands of Waterdeep.

Some adventurers collapsed the entrances to the gnoll caves, succeeding in causing a disorganized chaos among the underground. The adventurers managed to clear one of the entrances and began subsequently slaughtering all of the scattered gnolls as they tried to flee from the collapsed caverns. One of the entrances remains blocked, rubble clogs the gnoll caves and disorganized gnolls roam the corridors.

Two groups split up in the Sharp Teeth Woods under the full moon, one lead by Diana Vol, the other lead by Ivan the druid. The group led by Diana Vol, concerned over the lack of response from her Selunite werewolf allies, left to aid the Selunite pack against the Malarite threat. The other group, lead by Ivan, headed to the heart of the forest, where a great number of Malarites were amassing.

Diana's group teleported to the last known campsite of the Selunite werewolves, where the group was met with heavy Malarite resistance. They quickly found that the Malarite werewolves had surrounded the hard-pressed Selunite camp and were close to gaining the upper-hand. They then fought through hordes of wolves to aid the Selunites in their struggle.

The second group lead by Ivan travelled by passage of trees to where the druid had previously scouted out the area. There they were quickly beset upon by the Malarite horde flocked to the centre of the woods. After fighting through a horde of combatants, the group raced against the rising of the full moon through to a glade where an incredibly large, muscle-bound werewolf stood with the lupine girl Lenna, in front of a silvery circular portal infused with magical energies and surrounded by werewolves and four masked, black-robed individuals. The large werewolf speaking no more than a few frightening words to the adventurers before the witching hour struck upon them. The light of the full moon hit the portal, Lenna, mind-controlled by the Malarite werewolves, opened the portal, causing a desperate attempt by the adventurers to free her. The battle raising in intensity, the large leader of the werewolves fled with Lenna into the open portal. The four masked Casters followed suit during the chaos, along with one brave adventurer, while no-one else in the group dared to jump into the portal. The last stragglers of the adventuring group faced off against a particularly powerful werewolf, a lieutenant of sorts, before he too dived into the portal. The adventurers quickly raised and healed themselves and attempted to destroy the portal with their most powerful magics, to no avail. Eventually the moonlight passed off the portal and it closed again, once more the standing static arch.

Despairing in their loss of the girl, Lenna, the group treestrode back to the FAI. Not all the night was a loss however, as Diana Vol's group successfully saved the Selunite werewolves from the Malarite invasion.

Diana Vol led a group of elves out from Doron Amar to parlay with some secretive Sehanine elves seeking information to help against the Malarite incursion. The journey there proved to be no stroll through the woods, as not long after the large group of elves departed the safety of the Sharp Teeth South, packs of werewolf warriors fall upon them. It is quickly revealed that somehow the Malarite werewolves knew about Doron Amar's plans, and the Malarites don't seem to like them. Beating back the ambush the elves continued on, and after two days travel they eventually came to the north-western side of the Wood of Sharp Teeth. There they met their Selunite werewolf ally Urlegrin, who led them to the entrance to the hidden valley of the Sehanine elven temple. They did not pass far however, as scouts from the temple warned them to go no further, and speak their purpose. The party however, unable to alay the suspicious natured elves, are soon met with open hostilities. The party quickly learns of the separatist elves extreme views, especially when one of their number is revealed to be a "tainted blooded" half-elf. The party quickly finds arrows pointed at their throats. Bloodshed is avoided as Rilae leaves, and the reclusive elves continued to not only not agree to help the elves with their problem, but refused entry to the temple entirely until they proved they were allies. At the end of the day, the valiant elven adventurers must now find another way to gain entrance to the temple.

"Me not do it! Neebs not kill master!"

The words of the frightened goblin echoed up the Trade Way as a small goblin ran past in full flight. Clearly terrified from whomever it was fleeing from, the goblin did not stop to talk to the onlooking adventurers. Instead, a constant barrage of nonsensical comments continuously streamed from its mouth.

"Monster killed master!"

The small and dazzled creature fled off the road it was following, vanishing into the wilderness.

****

Meanwhile, an elf unleashed a volley of deadly arrows, as a beast the likes of which he had never seen before ominously loomed before him, eye stalks waving wildly as blast after blast of magical energy was sent careening past the tumbling elf. The elf, growing desperate, imbued an arrow with magical energies of his own, and sent it flying into the creature. When the flames finally died down, the creature lay slain, and the elf noticed for the first time the remains of a charred body near where the creature had been floating, damaged by the blast of his fireball.

Shortly after, a druidess by the name of Willow arrived, following back from the goblin's steps.

Soon after Laf'uth, Saul Aurora, Willow, and Lorn joined the team, where they were then able to discover a scorched wizard's spellbook on the remains. The book was so badly damaged that the team was not able to learn anything of use from it, so they instead set out to find out who its former master was, and perhaps return the book to his family.

After talking to Thalantyr, the Hedge Wizard living near Beregost, they learned that the wizard had bought a summoning scroll earlier this morning from Thalantyr, which had the power to summon a powerful beholder. Apparently the wizard was so eager to try out his powerful new magics and thus neglected to take the proper precautions, resulting in his summon turning against him and unleashing the evil into the world.

Who is this wizard, and why had he bought a beholder summoning scroll, is still unknown.
