Background:
Born the son of a caravan guard out of Sliverymoon, Jarresh grew up on the road. His mother served as the cook for the caravan, guards and teamsters alike. His father being ex-military started Jarresh's training at a young age. He was swinging a sword by the age of nine and killed his first goblin on his thirteenth birthday on an outing planned by his father and a few other guards. Jarresh still wears a scar on his neck from that battle, the goblins dagger had deflected off his armor and up across his neck just as Jarresh had landed the killing blow. He would have lost his life that day if his father had not brought the priest of Helm with them. He had taken Helm as his patron deity on that raid, and to this day he gives donations to the church every time he encounters one.
As his father grew in age, his family had settled on a small farm just north of Waterdeep. His mother passed a few years after they had settled in to a quick illness. In his fathers remaining years he passed along his knowledge of martial skill to his son. After burying his father next to his mother under the old shade tree, Jarresh decided to follow in his fathers footsteps and set out on the road to find work. He would make his parents proud as they looked down on him from the heavens.
Goals:
Jarresh's only wish is to find work with a reputable organization. He will not break an oath once taken, or stray from a deal made.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Being a mercenary the possibilities are endless for encounters. He could be fooled into a contract with a shadey character, fighting his personal code. The church of Helm could hire him for some task, leading him into his Divine Champion levels taken late in the build.
