Isendir Galadystanacae

Unread post by ARAforever »

First Name: Isendir
Last Name: Galadystanacae

Appearance: Large and strong, Isendir looks like he is built ready for the front lines of combat, his body thick with muscle. Lacking the usual grace of most drow, you might suspect his role on a battlefield is to charge head first into a unit, scattering its soldiers. His height gives him little advantage over his brethren, for he does not move as swiftly as them and, like an old saying goes, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
His would be, however, considered relatively handsome if not for the disfiguring scar that mares the right side of face. Going from the top of his temple, down through his right eye to his chin, it has left said eye a mess: the cut has filled the ball with blood, leaving him with a solid red eye, no white nor black of pupil left visible. Its eyelids have also been removed, leaving it permanently open. Many people often ask how he got it, the story is not as heroic as you might expect.
Race: Drow
Age: Middleage*
Height: Above the average*
Weight: Heavy*
Eyes: Left: Red Right: Solid Red
Hair
: White, cropped short at the sides, kept 3 inches long on the top
Facial Hair Style: None

Personality Profile:
General Health: He is generally very healthy and his body well maintained, however his disfigurement causes a blind spot on his right side, and often he gets jumpy when people approach from this angle. He claims he can still see out of his right eye, but its a shadowy pink haze, and more of a distraction then help, so he keeps the eye covered by a raggedy headband. Prolonged use of his right eye has, he claims, causes migraines which lead to psychotic episodes.
Deity: Lolth
Initial Alignment: Neutral Evil
Profession: Warrior/Bodyguard
Base Class & Proposed Development: Fighter base with progression towards Weapons Master. Maybe some other classes depending on how his roleplay works out.
Habits/Hobbies: He often rubs at his wounded eye through the cloth band. It relaxes hims and helps assuage its pain. He drinks when nothing else preoccupies him though is rarely inebriated.
Languages: Inaddition to the standard Drow language set, he has learnt orc and Sylvan
Weapon of Choice: An elven Falcion he calls "Sweetheart"

Background:

From the dredges of Menzoberranzan's society he was born, not a noble or respectable drop of blood in his veins. But, even in the cruel matriarchal society that is Lolth's great city, one can prove themselves useful. Isendir was, since a child, good at killing. When surface children were helping father plow the field or in school seats, Isendir was driving a dagger into the guts of his friend S'orin for stealing food from the wrong table.

As he got older so did his foes, but his passion for death did not wane. He grew tall, and his body he built thick and soon others took notice. At first the smaller houses hired him for mere thugish work, his reputation grew and soon he was working as a household soldier.
After some decades, he found himself stranding behind the house Ilharess, serving as a personal bodyguard. He was still young, and his success from such low stations built a considerable amount of pride within him, so much so any would agree is unhealthy in any jaluk.

Which brings us to his eye. He tells the story freely but with very little detail.
"This? Punishment, one deserved whole heartily. I actually consider myself lucky. Given to me in my younger years I become a little to arrogant and let my tongue loose with my Ilharess. She decided that I was useful enough not to execute, but I needed to be punished" Isendir is often thankful for her actions, for he never makes the same mistake twice, and she taught him two lessons. The first, is to always remember his Jalil betters, and the second was an unwitting lesson from his mistress. Even a small weakness will see you killed. His mistress let him live, a small mercy, a small kindness. Weakness. Sure enough, when he was sent on a mission she was killed, presumably by a rival house. With no one left to protect, Isendir sought employ in a new house.

For the many decades of Isendir's career he continued as the personal guardian of many an Ilharess or house noble, killing all assassins and suffering many wounds in the process. We was used as a soldier in attacks many times and was even sent on raids to the surface.
Ah, surface raids. Here Isendir found a new passion in life, a new love above just killing: Slaughter. Terror. Rape. Pillage. He burned homes, and would mercilessly kill his surface cousins, destroy their warriors, laughing. Few he ever let live, though there is a few. They would spread the terror of the Drow, and maybe, just maybe, there is a half-blooded ilbith child wandering the surface because of him. Eventually, Isendir would remove his patch the raid left the city, knowing full well the psychotic episodes he suffers from the migraines, often timed to occur as he reaches the night sky.

But, all things come to an end. Isendir is in his middle age, and calmed deeply since his youth. He has fled to Sshamath because the House he was employed with came under attack from a much larger house and its warriors targeted all members of the house, including hte servants. Isendir and a group of others fled the attack and Menzo' into the underdark.

This is present day.

Goals: Continue his eternal struggle to improve his martial prowess, find employ within a house and one day become the house weapons master, something more then a guardian. He wants to return to the surface, revel once more in his love of slaughter. Once he has risen to adequate station, he can lead attacks to the top, so that is what he must do.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
If the children were even allowed to live, Isendir might have a few half drow children on the surface. Gods forbid what might happen should they come down looking for him. Gods forbid what might happen if he encounters them on the surface. Blood, probably
Isendir is horrifically racist and xenophobic and despises half-drow above all other races. He has little tolerance of other species less they can further his own goals in some way. His takes pleasure in killing drow however, because he views drow as the deadliest of all creatures. He reveres Drow Jalil over all things, as they are the embodiment of Lolth and drow culture, which has grown strong because of them. Jalil of all other races he views with contempt below that of any species of Jaluk.
"A Drow Jalil is superior, for she has given birth to the society that keeps drow strong, a Drow Jalil is superior for she can only give birth to a race so perfect as drow. All Ilbith jalil are below contempt, for the only thing they have ever done is give birth to vermin and rodents". Isendir does not believe Half-Drow can be birthed by a female drow.

Bonus: Theme Songs:

Why are the themes so different?
Because like all men, he is not transparent and not flat of personality.
