Turning of the gauntlet

The following is an excerpt from the journal of Kaius Shieldbearer, dated 1st of Kythorn 1353:

"Through a chance encounter while performing the good work of Helm, I ended up making the most fascinating of acquaintances. A kind woman by the name of Terri and her lover Mercury. The two of them in time introduced me to a most amazing woman, Wai Li. At first glance she was a tall, well built woman wearing a most sturdy set of armor. She was a sight to behold, and then to learn that she was the leader of the Everwatch Knights of the Church of Helm in Amn, only made her that much more inspiring.

Through the most amazing display of magic I have yet to witness the group was teleported to the Church of Helm in Nashkel, though the feat was not the most wonderful thing. As when I laid eyes upon the glorious architecture and learned that Helm himself stood upon where I then stood... I was struck silent with awe. Within the Church itself the care of the stone, the reverent beauty of the place, the silent but strong aura of peace and protection, all further humbled and inspired my spirit. Through my recent adventures my heart had soured, but this sight, this moment, had served as salve upon my soul. Helm had brought me to this place to remind me of his service, and in this moment I found my faith renewed, my heart bolstered once again for the coming trials.

Once inside the group gathered around a large table in a private room, more akin to a library or a strategist's planning table, and discussed matters of which I knew little of. Recent dangers of the land, the conspiring's of evil people or groups, the identities of known assassins or spies... all manner of which I knew little. It was an honor to be amongst such prestigious company, and in the presence of Helm's faithful, but in truth, I had nothing to offer and felt out of place. Then this young graceful woman entered the room, and I felt as if our eyes were constantly upon each other but never meeting... there was something about her that drew my gaze more than it should.

I learned that her name was Sani Briin, and her smile is kind and gentle, but her gaze feels as though you have nothing to hide from it. She moves like a practiced dancer and speaks as one well versed in the Arcane. Of all those I met today, I can not help but look forward to meeting her again the most. I feel as though the events of this day have lead me to a better place, and one I am grateful to Helm for bringing me to....
