Help I broke my build, favored soul
So I have a favored soul, got to lvl 9, was informed warpriest would be a good prestige to choose, so I chose the able learner feat to grab the spot skill needed so I wouldn't waste 5 levels getting 5 spot, I am now level 12 and have never played a favor soul or even looked at the warpriest class before. Is going forward with warpriest worth it? Warpriest just seems to alternate a fighter without extra feats with a divine spellcasting class, starting to think it is not worth it. Another thing I was thinking about was going favored soul to lvl 20, then going fighter the rest of the way, the excessive feat selection of epic feats would allow my character to end with 530 health, 22 str, 22 charisma... however at the cost of a -20 xp penalty, what are your thoughts on this? I am still relatively new to the game, and was not even sure I would play this character all the way through, but things just lined up right.

Re: Help I broke my build, favored soul
just figured out divine champion gets an uber amount of feats as well, so the same thing as fighter, but without the xp penalty, it would allow near the same ending, but I won't have any heavy armor or greater weapon focus. Oh if only I could appeal to the merciful heart of a DM and be allowed to relevel my character, if only I knew then what I know now!

There is an NPC in the loading area that allows you to delete your character and transfer 1/2 of your xp to a new character. Meant for rerolls, but I don't see the harm here.

Use the nwn2db website to build your characters prior. If you're unsure, test them in JEGS, which is a training module.

You can't take FS to 20 then fighter the rest of the way. You have to have 3 lvls in each class you take before reaching 20. Per server rules. Maybe you should read them if you didn't know that...

The point in taking Warpriest instead of any other mentioned class is that you get spell progression but also nearly full caster level (full with practised spellcaster) which prevents dispelling of your buffs.
At least earlier, some mobs dispelled you quite a lot.

It don't work like that.
Generally speaking Warpriest is a last resort class. But it's not a disaster on a FS if you only take a few levels.

Re: Help I broke my build, favored soul
The Favored Soul is best taken pure or with a few dips.
Paladin/Favored Soul for the saves, Divine Might/Armor access and proficiencies (Heavy Armor etc)
Favored Soul/Blackguard. Same as above but you need to be evil and get the requirements.
Favored Soul/Cleric. Again, proficiencies, access to Divine Might/Shield, free Domain abilities but not spells.
Favored Soul/Stormlord. But you need to follow Talos I think.
Warpriests are pretty sucky too though some choose to enter it with other divine classes instead (Paladin, Spirit Shaman etc)
Either get into a prestige class that advances divine casting sensibly or dip up to four levels in some other class and don't forget to get Practiced Spellcaster. You need 4 Spellcraft for that too.

Warpriest better to use with druid. But really, better for you to start from zero and make build by your own experience, on the forum you can download nice test module.

If you think that's rough, I am glad I hadn't posted sooner.
The server rules are pretty clear:
Of course it would make for "a pretty epic build". That, in a nutshell, is why the rule is in place. To prevent powerbuilding.
So if you read the rest of the rules the way you read this one, again, you may want to re-read them.

You think taking a 4 level hit in mid teens is bad... you definitely dont want to get caught breaking any of the other rules.
The server rules are pretty clear:
If you read them, as you said you did, it seems pretty crazy that you'd plan your build without taking this into account.3 Levels of Each Class at Level 20 (3b20) Rule: A PC (the build plan) must have 3 levels in every class at level 20 (example of a build's class level distribution at the 20th character level: 17/3 or 14/3/3/ or 11/3/3/3). Prestige classes are included in this rule. So for example, a Rogue 12/Wizard 5/Arcane Trickster 3 is okay. A Rogue 13/Wizard 5/ Arcane Trickster 2 is not. Failure to observe this rule will result in the de-leveling of your PC to a legal state with NO XP refund!

Whoa! How was my post not friendly? You posted a thread about breaking your build... I just referred you to a server rule that would further break your build if it was not followed.Thagrin wrote:Thanks everyone for the advice, I appreciate it. Save of course The gruff Stout, yes I have read the server rules, maybe you should try friendly approach or none at all. But Gruff, you are obviously a veteran player, so what is your advice for the remaining levels? I am lawful neutral, so paladins build is out. Still new to the forum, still learning, that is why I reach other to the experts around. So if I do a second class I need to grab them before level 20? That seriously complicates things. The Divine Champion from 21 to 30 was going to make a pretty epic build, but I guess that is out of the question. I really only wanted FS so I could bless allies and weaker players, keep my friends alive, and have a true motivation to play a friendly noble character. Other than that, I use the wards to make a truly front line defensive lineman. RCRing from level 12, almost 13 seems like it would take me back to lvl 9, a true hit for any guild recuitments.
I have been known to be much more unfriendly.
