Elemental Archer builds

Remember there was talk about a build containing something of;

Arcane Archer
Assassin
Elemental Archer
And then I think Fighter.

Any of you guys remember the links to that build?

Original needs a little adjusting for 3b20, but it's easy enough.

I've had something similar to the first since 2010 and can vouch for it's attacking efficacy. However I've also tried the second and think it's better balanced.

I've considered bard 7/OOBI 10/ AA 9/EA 4

Unfortunately you can't build this on that website due to the lack of oobi as a prestige class on there.

I've only a little experience with an archer, but given that being an archer with high dex and a limited selection of spells means low AC, HiPS is really a lifesaver. I wouldn't say its "crucial" but if you ever end up solo, you sure will want it.

I believe it should be:
Fighter8, elemental archer 5, assassin 8, arcane archer 9
(Cant pick Assassin class before lv13 due to skill requirements)

Works quite well indeed, not getting hit is a bother should something surprise you else it is a cake walk. Will saves also needs a helping hand.
The late HIPS (lv24) makes early epic interesting.
Consider whether you want Oneshot or not, if not STR 22(26) may be a valid goal if you find a +8 mighty bow. After all manyshot only requires DEX 17.

So far looking good, too many foes up close?
1. Dash off/Invisibility
2. Switch to weapon + shield for a moment.


EDM build (extend feat for more hastes.. hit EDM and pew pew):
Bard 14
Blackguard 4 (EDM)
Arcane Archer 7
Elemental Archer 5


As for HIPS needed for survivability..
UMD is your friend, but HIPS helps... well, sometimes.

Dissonant Chord just a personal favorite of mine for RP.

Power critical would earn you a lot more than what you get from improved elemental storm for one. But that might be a roleplay decision?

Also, unless changed recently dissonant chord does not give bard song levels.

Nah it was my oversight. I thought the damage output would be better, thanks for that. DS gives both song and spell progression, just not what music the bard has access to.

Dissonant Chord just a personal favorite of mine for RP.

Fighter4 qualifies you for weapon master ranged for +2 AB and Damage. You meet the prereqs so it is a must have feat. maybe take that instead of Improved elemental storm.

You should try and fit in Hymn of requiem. For an archer with no hips you will get hit eventually ( especially by bosses), so the healing from hymn plus bard spells (Ethereal Visage, Displacement, Mirrors ) can make up for the lack of hips

Seem to recall you actually need 12 fighter for the mastery feats but else that would be better than power critical indeed.

Dumping greater dex +3 for hymn should really improve the song power of the build as well.
Get a dex +3 item for dex 30, loosing 1 AC and 1 AB wont change much, Hymn will due to the regeneration when things are that close.

Improved Elemental Storm
Type of Feat: Class, Elemental Archer
Prerequisite: Elemental Archer 5
Specifics: The elemental storm becomes a raging conflagration of energy. The damage bonus increases to the damage is 2d8 + (HD/2)d6 and the number of targets increases to 10.
i.e. A number of d6 rolls equal to half your current hit dice which maxes at 15d6.. Max damage is 2d8 + 15d6 per target.
Use: Selected.

Improved elemental storm was modified here, and I wouldn't call it bad (61 average damage to 10 targets at the same time ? Yes, that's 610 damage ).

Regarding the build I question the presence of curse song, you really don't want them to be that close in my opinion.. but if you want dissonant chord it's a requirement.

You're also lacking weapon mastery : ranged (to get as soon as possible after weapon spec). The only feat you can ditch is practiced spellcaster, replace it by extend spell, replace extend by manyshot, then take weapon mastery ranged.

No easy way to get hymn in there, you would have to delay elemental archer last 2 levels and give up on improved elemental storm.

I'd take a look at improved elemental storm VFX, if there is any, if it's good keep it (regenration .. there's always regen song).
