24th of August 2014 (Slavery in the Underdark)

Participants:
- Forsun Siluseth
- Vendinth Nef'zen
Hidden: show
Forsun and Vendinth were hunting Duergar in the Duergar compound, beyond the Illithid mines. The Duergar responded in force, sending parties of warriors to confront the interlopers. The two Drow fled the compound, pursued by the Duergar. Outside the Duergar in pursuit were attacked by an elder grey ooze, decimating their number. A larger party joined them shortly after, though their numbers were too small to deal with the two drow. Forsun and Vendinth slaughtered them.

Forsun then headed back into the compound, which lay deserted except for a few Duergar. It did not take long before the local wild life took advantage of this lax guard. Carrion Crawlers and numbers of Vagrouille entered the compound to feast on the corpses.

A Duergar Stone Fist and slaver from another clan arrived shortly after Forsun, and proceeded to capture what Duergar he could find. Forsun talked to him while invisible, startling the Duergar. The Stone fist thereafter ignored the Drow, who took no hostile action against him.

Shortly before his departure an attack by flocks of Vagrouille distracted Forsun. In the mean time the Duergar slaver made off with his captives. Forsun was unable to track the band once they left the lair. Thereupon he decided to gather information in S'shamath (an event for another time).
Reward:
- Forsun was given 250 experience points.
- Vendinth had crashed and did not return. Has received no reward, but should presumably receive 150 to 200 experience points when I next see him.

24th of August 2014 (Adventure in the Nashkel Foothills)

Participants:
- Vera
- Daggo
- Kagger Redyard
- Popi
Hidden: show
Vera, Daggo and Kagger were fighting Hill Giants out in the Naskhel foothills, each for their own reasons. The Giants did not take kindly to the hostilities, and ambushed Vera near the well. She died but was saved through the divine magic possessed Kagger. Upon her revival she was pensive and apparantly weighed down by her experience. Her companions hoisted her up however, granting her no time to dwell in the past.

The Giants meanwhile quickly rallied and began gathering at range to chuck rocks are the stationary adventurers. The party quickly retreated uphill, taking shelter where they could behind large rock outcroppings. The Giants laughed raucously from below and did not pursue despite Daggo's pointed outbursts.

Shortly afterward the group entered a compound held by Frost Giants, seeking treasure to presumably offset their losses against the Hill Giants. They were engaged by the Frost Giant King after fighting through to his throne room. The King however made short work of them, and left the bodies to a pet Wyrmling. The Wyrling dragged them to its lair.

In the lair Kagger revived, apparantly not quite dead, and managed to ressussitate Vera and Daggo as well. The trio was then joined by Popi, who had picked up their trail of carnage through the Foothills.

The party, now a quartet, was ambushed outside the Frost Giant King's Domain by a group of Hill Giants. The Giants had apparantly decided to pursue them further a while after Daggo's shouting died down. The Hill Giants party was quickly engaged dispatched by Vera and Daggo, Vera saving Daggo's life by striking the Giant assailing him in the back, just before he might have received a fatal injury. Popi had meanwhile traveled to Beregost, after aiding the party by securing the attentions of Auril's priestesses, nearby.
Where Kagger headed was unknown to all, his purpose and council ever his own.
Reward:
- The four participants were all given 100 experience points.

26th of August 2014 (Harpoon Spiders)

Participants:
- Forsun Siluseth
Hidden: show
Forsun Siluseth was hunting in the Illithid mines again. While he prepared to venture deeper into the mines a loud series of shrill screams began echoing along the walls. As the sound of the screams began washing over him, Forsun started to feel 'wrong'. Whatever had entered the mines, it was a predator, and he wasn't sure if he was now prey.

After cautiously tracking through the mines Forsun stumbled on a Black Widow which was hunting Duergar and Mindflayers, catching them unawares and quickly taking them down. As the Widow attempted to build a nest in one of the tunnels, Forsun attacked and slew the spider. It was not the source of the screams however, as he soon learned.

Tracking further, Forsun stumbled upon a red, very hairy, giant 'spider'. Although it certainly looked like a spider some innate sense told Forsun that it couldn't be, something was wrong. After slaying the 'spider' he thus collected its carcass and resolved to ask for insight at the Temple of Lolth.

While traveling to the Temple of Lolth in S'shamath Forsun was waylaid by another very hairy giant red 'spider'. This time he was unable to battle the beast and ran. The beast however had no intention of letting him go and launched a harpoon tentacle, with which it dragged him back. Forsun was saved by a mindflayer and a thrall who charged at the 'spider', distracting it from him so he could slip away.

Upon his arrival in S'shamath Forsun went to the Temple of Lolth. The High Priestess strongly chastised him for bringing parts of the carcass to the Temple, and called the thing an abomination, confirming that it certainly was no spider. As recompense Forsun made a personal donation of 1000 gold to the Temple, and to undertake two tasks of penance.

Though pleading for more guidance the High Priestess sent him on his way, chastising him to have faith in Lolth.
Reward:
- Forsun was given 150 experience points.

26th of August 2014 (Spitting Spiders in the Foothills) and (Scarabs in the Foothills)

Participants:
-Kagger Redyard
-Popi
-Valiant
-Ronald Shadow
-Deacon
-Lisanna Scarlet
-Mab Berrach

Hidden: show
While hunting Hill Giants in the Nashkel Foothills Valiant was surprised by a group of Spitting Spiders, who attacked as soon as he turned his back on a passage from their lair. He had apparantly come too close, and caused them to be aggresive.

Bewildered by the sudden attack, and the sticky webs and paintful acid being spat, Valiant slew one of his assailant and then quickly retreated. The spiders observed him leave and then quickly vanished. Not long after Valiant met with Popi and explained what had occured. Popi did not seem to care overmuch, remarking that she had seen many types of spiders, and that they all die. During their discussion the pair were beset by a pair of Sword Spiders.

After defending themselves Valiant and Popi went to Nashkel to seek clarification from Hunter Harrow on the Sword and Spitting spiders. Hunter Harrow explained that Sword Spiders are not common in the foothills, but that it's not unknown for them to pass that way, and that they are known to burrow for heat.

The spitting spiders Harrow described as a species which prefers to attack from the back, using webs, and its acidic poisonous spit. Hence the name. Hunter Harrow then remarked that the Nashkel garrison had experience smoking out lairs of spitters too close to the town or caravan routes. A fire is placed at every lair passage but one, while at that one passage a ring of soldiers with heavy shields and long spears await the inevitable attempt to escape.

Hunter Harrow also regaled the party, joined by others from the inner Circle, that such a smoke out went wrong ten years ago, causing the ill remembered spitter attack on Nashkel of 1340. Although no one got hurt, he explained, the town guard had missed one passage out the lair. The Spitters in turn escaped and chose to follow the guardsmen when they returned home, attacking as the garrison went to sleep after an un-eventful and frustrating day of waiting. Though quickly and easily taken care of, and not often remembered, if brought up many citizens will recall the sight of spiders on the roofs, spitting at frustrated guards with their pikes and shields.

At this point the party was resolved to smoke out the Spitting Spiders from their lair, though short of a tracker capable of finding the entry passages. Deacon had been eavesdropping however, and decided to offer his services. As the group entered the foothills they were joined by a lone traveleing adventurer and former gypsie, Mab Berrach.

While fending off Hill Giants the party attempted to track down passages to the spider's lair. At one point they were attacked in the back by a pack of spitting and sword spiders. The group finally thought to track them to a nearby incline in a hill, which presumably laid to a cavern holding the lair. A strange scurrying noise could be heard from the cave, which was omniously surrounded by skeletons as well as grisly heads on pikes.

At that point, while preparing to enter, the party were attacked in the back by spiders. Undaunted, they believed themselves on the right track and continued preparations to go underground. They were interrupted however by the scurrying which kept getting louder and closer. Both Deacon and Lisanna decided to pepper the passage with spells, to thin out the approaching spiders.

What errupted from the passage were not spiders however. Floods of irritated scarabs washed forth from the passage, much to everyone's surprise. Mab was quickly able to identify them, thanks to her gypsie lore heritage and Deacon quickly concurred with her findings. Intrigued, the party decided to press on and explore where these exotic beetles had come from.

The party entered the passage but quickly found that it narrowed, so much that they needed to crawl on. At this point Kagger, the largest of the group, got stuck. Lissanna cast a spell of size reduction on him, freeing Kagger once more so the group and members behind him could continue on. At the front, Valiant asked to take over point from Mab, and tried to pass her. Unfortunately he could not squeeze past her, and they got stuck side by side, until Deacon and Lissanna reduced their sizes too.

Now reduced in size Valiant could walk on his knees and went forth alone to determine what lay ahead. Valiant found a hot spring, though he did not know what it was, and many scarabs scurrying around it. Turning back, Deacon interpreted his findings and deduced that the reason the party had not been eaten yet was because the sulphur and and ammonia smells from the spring masked their scent.

Undaunted by the prospect of being eaten Valiant and Kagger proposed to go ahead and see the venture through, they had come this far after all. Deacon was not convinced, and neither was Lisanna as she realized casting spells in the confined environment would be difficult, especially with tiny beetles trying to eat you.

Before the party could decide to go back however, Valiant passed gas. Although he did so quietly the person behind him, Mab, was unpleasantly surprised, and leveled a barrage of curses and grumbles at his ancestry, particularly their cooking. Mab's curses echoed through the passage, causing Deacon to immediately call for the party to retreat. Indeed, not a minute passed after Deacon began making his way out, ignoring the others, before the scurrying the party had heard earlier returned, and the smell of sulphur and ammonia slowly began drifting in their direction.

Their courage finally giving out, the party beat a hasty retreat from the passage. At the rear, Valiant mumbled to himself and Mab: 'Don't worry... I can always make us invisible'. At which point Deacon decided to hurry the party along by telling them scarabs can hunt by scent, so that they should not count on the dark or invisibility so save them.

Making it outside in time, ahead of the flesh eating beetles, Lisanne quickly reacted and prepared to unleash a spell to collapse passage entirely. Once the last party member exited the passage, Valiant, the spell was cast and the passage collapsed.

In hindsight the party then deduced that the nearby skeletons had probably been strippted clean by foraging beetles, and that the heads on pikes were meant as crude warnings by the nearby Hill Giants, presumably to their own kin.

Returning to Nashkel the party was upbeat at having survived a harrowing encounter. Lisanne and Deacon proceeded to meet with the Mayor, to warn him about the scarabs presence. The mayor asked Hunter Harrow to take care of the problem. Hunter Harrow then explained that two years ago a caravan had come from Amn carrying the beetles for a mage in Luskan. No ship captain had been willing to take a compliment of flesh eating beetles, and magical transport had been deemed to expensive. Unfortunately the caravan was waylaid by Hill Giants. When the Nashkel Guard arrived and found the Giants had made off with their ill gotten gains it was decided they could reap what they sow and that no further effort should be wasted.

In a flash of foresight the Amnish commander requested instructions on how to deal with scarabs, should they become an issue. The Army replied not to worry, as scarabs can only survive in hot environments. Hunter Harrow concluded that with the passage collapsed there was no further reason to worry, since the scarabs were now trapped with their hot spring.
Reward:
- The participants were all given rounds of 50 to 100 experience points, at the varying stages of the adventure. Had they all stayed they would have received 400 experience points.

27th of August 2014 (Black Widow in the Cloakwood)

Participants:
-Arkaine HalfOrken
-Castan
-Ferragus Manus
-Mabel Friggens
-Ithilwen

Hidden: show
A messenger from the Duchal Court approached Arkaine in Baldur's Gate, bearing tidings of an attack on a caravan traversing the trade way. According to reports received from the guards at the Friendly Arms Inn a Black Widow had attacked a merchant caravan, causing great loss of life, and lose of goods. It would take several days at least, surely a tenday according to the messenger, before the Flaming Fists would be able to recall enough men from the North to mount an expedition against this threat. The Duchal Court requested Arkaine do what he could to deal with the threat, at least until such a time as it could be dealt with.

Upon receiving the news Arkaine hurriedly departed to the Friendly Arms Inn. Though told the guards there might have more information he chose instead to follow up on another lead, that the beast was last seen entering the Cloakwood.

In the Cloakwood Arkaine prayed to Helm and received a vision in which Helm shared how the attack had occurred. Though he did not learn much about his opponent, and was slightly disoriented, Arkaine was wise enough to understand that this was a foe that was likely beyond him. He needed to gather a host of men.

Heading to the Friendly Arms Inn Arkaine met Ferragus Manus. He asked Ferragus to help gather a host while he himself prayed to Helm, in the Temple of Garl Glitter Gold. Gellana Mirrorshade, the priestess, gave Arkaine leave to stay in exchange for his vow to assist any gnomes he came across in his travels. Arkaine consented.

Farther into the evening Arkaine emerged from the Temple. Peace to rest eluded him, so het set about his task. Ferragus had already gathered a band of warriors, Castan the adventurer, and Mabel Friggens also an adventurer.

Together the party ventured forth into the deeper reaches of the Cloakwood. After a fruitless search spanning the entire day their prey still eluded them, however. Racked with frustration and exhaustion the party decided to set up camp in a secluded area of the forest. A tense silence had hung around that place which they had been unable to explain.

As darkness fell, mere hours later, the Black Widow descended on the sleeping adventurers. The party had set a guard, Castan, who was surprised at its quick and silent approach, not noticing the vermin until they were near the edge of the camp site. Helm watched over Arkaine and Ferragus however, rousing them through their devotion with the warning that a fight was immiment, the object of their quest near.

The fight was difficult, leaving Arkaine and Ferragus bleeding, bitten and injured. The rest of the party, sheltered behind the Paladins, faired better. Ithilwen revealed her presence and fought along side the party, explaining that she had been trailing them to observe whether Arkaine's outrageous claims about a massive spider were true.

After defeating the Black Widow Mabel opened up its belly to examine what it had been eating. Due to her proximity and the size of the spider she was covered in a splatter of gore. The party then discovered the digested body of a gnome, split in two pieces, along with a digested pouch filled with gold. Following Arkaine's decision the party returned the body and the gold to the Temple of Garl Glittergold at the Friendly Arms Inn.

As a reward Gellana Mirrorshade told Arkaine he would always be welcome to rest at Garl's Temple in the Friendly Arms Inn, so long as he continued to honour his word and assist all gnomes he come across. She then began preparing to identify the corpse, and to return the gold to its kin.

Reward:
- The participants were all given rounds of 50 to 100 experience points, at the varying stages of the adventure. They would have received around 400 experience points in total, disregarding gains from the spawns.

27th of August 2014 (Dungeon Robbery)

Participants:
-Captain Mealir Ostirel

Hidden: show
After slaying a bandit crew operating the Boraskyr Bridge toll station Captain Maelir Ostirel headed into the marshes, and the Serpent Hills beyond. Eventually Mealir entered a dungeon. After heavy fighting inside the dungeon he headed back out but was waylaid at the entrance by Captain Simeon, Saul his wizard, Misha, Lice, and an as yet unnamed pirate.

The brigands had apparantly followed him after his fight with the Boraskyr bridge bandits. Misha confirmed for the captain that it was indeed Maelir who had slain the Boraskyr crew. Captain Simeon then confonted Mealir with his 'disrespectful behaviour', towards the Boraskyr crew, and said that he expected more respect from him for his own crew. After some bargaining Simeon agreed to let Maelir go free in exchange for ten thousand gold, and an item of considerable value.

Outnumbered five to one, fatigued, and injured Captain Ostirel saw no other choice than to cooperate, though he expertly bargained with Simeon to withdraw his men, instead of simply handing over everything he had. Once the men were withdrawn and Maelir had a clear path to the exit, he kicked the gold to the other end of the room and made for the exit.

Simeon's crew did not pursue him. Lice confirmed the bag contained the appopriate amount of gold and the encounter was resolved without bloodshed.
Rewards and Losses:
- [Lost] The short sword 'Pins': Bonus feat sneak attack +1d6, Acid damage 1d4, Enhancement +2.
- [Gain] 500 xp when Captain Ostirel is seen again.

28th of August 2014 (Assassin at the Xvart Village)

Participants:
-Catam D'Argente
-Telia Navra
-Kagger Redyard
-Nathaniel Collins
-Rose Angelheart
-Ty
-Xavier Aylomen
-Zeligus Cromwell
-Lorna Darklander

Hidden: show
While hunting Xvarts in the Cloak Wood the party of Zeligus Cromwell, Rose AngelHeart and Nathaniel Cromwell is confronted by a man clad in black armour. When challenged the man introduced himself as having passed from Cormyr to the Xvart region, murdering many people, and recently having spent his day pulling legs from spiders that had crossed his path. Seeking to be diplomatic and intimidating Rose, in Treant Shape, stood in front of the man and leant forward to exchange words. The man then leaned in and told Rose that his god had told him he would fight a tree this day, but that he had not believed it until he saw her..... and then he struck at her.

The party quickly leaped into action when the attack begun. Nathaniel launched a furious set of attacks to distract the violent man, but in the end he proved to strong for them. The party was laid low, each cut down, on the ground, and bleeding. As the party lay helpless the violent man took his time to whisper to rose that he had learned that trees could bleed.

After inflicting several cruelties on Zeligus, but not on Nathaniel who lay unconcious, the violent man offered the party terms. He would not slay them where they lay if they agreed to take an oath. An oath to pray to Set whenever a follower of Bhaal is found. As the man set out his terms Kagger Redyard appeared and ordered the man to stop and have words. The man however made a show of ignoring Kagger, apparantly very self-confident. This gave Kagger pause, though after collecting himself and launching into a fury he chose the offensive and engaged the man, demanding his due.

Before the incapacitated party could be put the sword a fight thus errupted. After a brutal and prolonged battle Kagger won, and the violent man died. Taking in the incapacitated party Kagger offered assistance, and then left to deal with encroaching Xvarts, though keeping an eye on the recovering party members.

Not long after the Ranger Catam D'Argente arrived, as well as Lorna Darlander. As they arrived and joined the group the original party moved to examine the corpse of the Assassin. As they removed the helmet and armour from the body they found a bald, scarred man, whose body was covered with strange exotic symbols that they could not make sense of.

The party then decided that since Kagger had access to Divine Power, he might try to raise the corpse, so the violent man could be interrogated. When he attempted this the magic failed however, his attempted rebuffed, and his deity signalled displease at the callous expenditure of Divine Power to attempt to raise an enemy who's soul belongs to another deity.

After a lengthy discussion and the division of the spoils Kagger set the corpse on fire. Catam took the corpse's helmet. Nathaniel collected its armour, including many mouldy parts and pieces with less savory substances on it. Kagger himself collected the weapon, a mace. As the party prepared to head to Beregost to ask Thunderhammer about the armour a group of Zhentarim approached the site, led by Zeligus, who had snuck out while Kagger battled the violent man.

Telia Navra then convinced Nathaniel Collins to hand over the armour pieces he collected, explaining that she believed they had been stolen from a Zhentarim soldier. Observing where the situation was going Kagger quickly moved to hide the mace he had aquired, draping his cloak over it and stowing it away in his back pack. Unfortunatley Telia Navra caught him hiding something round, and gave him a knowing look.

Not deciding to press the issue yet, the Zhentarim then proposed to cast a speak with the dead spell, and ask the Corpse several questions to learn more. The Corpse was cryptic and did give clear answers. Revealing only that it had taken the armour from a man it had slain, in order to leave behind an old life. In one life it said it was known as Hammpuet. It finally revealed that it served the Outcast of Gods, that the Lord of Murder would Perish, and that the Outcast of Gods was present.

After the questioning the Zhentarim confronted Kagger with his presumed possesion of the weapon. Knowing better than to lie to them, Kagger bluntly admitted he possesed it, and handed it over. Catam meanwhile took this as his que to quietly walk away. It did not take long for Kagger to realize this however, and he quickly pointed out that Catam had taken the helmet, starting a search for Catam as the Zhentarim ordered him to return and hand over their property. Catam eluded them however.
Rewards:
- The Zhentarim have recovered a nearly complete set of elite Zhentilar armour.
- Catam D'Argente has taken possession of the helmet.
- All involved were granted ticks of XP, amounting to roughly 400 experience on average, depending on their involvement.

28th of August 2014 (The Good, The bad, and the Ugly?)

Participants
-'Sio'
-Sestian Dragonbane
-Ronin Marcus
Hidden: show
After traveling through the Nashkel foothills Sestian warmed himself the campfire, Hunter Harrow nearby preparing his equipment for an expedition. During his stay a mysterious elf came by and took the seat opposite Sestian. In response Sestian asked the stranger who he was and what he wanted.

The Stranger introduced himself as Sio, the father of a Helmite Cleric. Sio then told Sestian that he had come to talk of an attack by the Inner Circle organization on his son, a few days ago. The conversation quickly grew tense when Sio added Sestian had better cooperate, and that all would be fine while Sio was present, implying it might not necessarily be afterwards.

During their tense conversation Ronin happened by and joined Sestian at the campfire. Not intimidated in the slightest Sio kept up his line of questioning, directing several thinly veiled accusation of agression at the Inner Circle. Sestian in response asked what Sio's real name was, and who he represented, having heard that a man named Sio[full name redacted] had ordered an assassination on him. Despite the similarity of their names Sestian could not be sure of his identity however, and the stranger did not appear intent on fighting. As Sestian pursued his line of questioning Sio grew weary and departed, vanishing.

Shortly afterwards Sestian and Ronin retired to the guild headquarters the Inner Circle rents in Nashkel. Before entering Sestian set several alarms, which were promptly triggered after the duo headed inside. Immediately suspicous Sestian and Ronin began to search the room. After a short while of fruitless searching the pair decided on a different strategy, deciding to wreck the room to scare any spies out of hiding. This strategy did not go over well with the Inn Keeper, who immediately complained, causing the duo to abandon their effort.

After leaving their rented lodge Ronin paid 5000 gold to the Inn Keeper in reperations for the damage and trouble they'd caused. Though by then the Inn Keeper had already called in the guard to see what by the gods was causing that ruckus. As the duo headed in, followed by the guards, they found their rented guild lodge covered in pools of blood, an altar to Bhaal int he middle of the room, and various magical symbols. At the foot of the altar lay an elf, apparantly injured and bleeding profusely.

The guard immediately rushed forward and demanded to know what was going on. After Sestian explained what had happened, and Elf had been healed through a laying on hands by Ronin, the lead guard commented that this situation was above his salary. Instead of dealing with the matter he decided to take all involved to the garrisson for the Captain to deal with, and perhaps later the High Priest of Helm.

As this decision was made the apparantly wounded Elf stood up, exlaiming: "Oops", and teleported with a quick gesture. The Guard, now convinced of Sestian and Ronin's innocence, decided that the matter was out of their jurisdiction, as Sestian and Ronin tracked the destination of the teleport to a site near Candlekeep. One guard was ordered to remain int he Inn for the day, to keep an eye out for trouble and assure the patrons all was under controll.

While exploring the hills around Candlekeep Gremory was ambushed by a sword spider. Just as the spider knocked him down and he lay helpless, a gnoll approached from behind and killed it. The gnoll then quickly ran back to the Gnoll compound to get help, assuming that Gremory had been killed or knocked unconcious. Gremory thereupon turned himself invisible with his bardic magic, hiding behind a rock and then a pillar to avoid the now approaching pack of gnolls from sniffing him out.

After observing the gnolls for a little while he decided to approach them and ask what they were barking about, for he could not understand their language. As Gremory left cover, the Gnolls attacked. Gremory then quickly cast a spell of darkness and ran, leaving the gnolls howling with frustration as their 'food' got away. He reached Candlekeep without any signs of pursuit.

12th of november 2014 (A meal best served... hot)

Participant
-Valiant
Hidden: show
While traveling the wilderness next to Lion's way Valiant was ambushed by a pack of spiders. Taking him by surprise, a spitting spider put him off balance while several sword spiders advanced on him and attempted to flank. Following a brief struggle in which he came perilously close to being overpowered, Valiant quickly ducks into the shadows and regains his composure. He then quickly preys on the would be predators and robs them of their meal.

Having dealt with the spiders Valiant examines one of the corpses. He sticks his fist into one of the wounds he created, but finds nothing, though he notes the smell uncomfortable acidic feeling on his skin. He then patrols the immediate area for holes to determine if there are any more predators lying in wait. He finds none.

Wishing to draw any would be lurkers out of hiding, Valiant casts a meteor shower using his magical expertise. No spiders are revealed, though among the burned ground can be found a number of birds who died from fright. Walking along, Valiant also spots a burned badger, missing its hind leg. Taking pity on the animal he applies a bandage, while in its alarm the creature attempts to release itself.

After bandaging the badger Valiant follows it to its nest, a nearby tree. He lets it go, then hacks at the tree with a mighty hew of his sword. The badger quickly shoots into his burrow. Following this Valiant puts down an ear and listens for any sounds, in particular for spiders. Instead, a trio of upset badgers emerge from the burrow and attack Valiant. He quickly slays the badgers, noting that the burned badger missing its hind leg was among his assailants.

Valiant then makes a fire nearby the road to Candlekeep, and prepares to continue on his business.
Reward
- Certainty that no more predators lurked nearby.
- A small trail of wasted wild lands near Candlekeep.
- 50 experience points.

Shortly before morning on the 14th of Uktar (november) a man burst into sheriff de Oca's office in the barracks of Beregost. Startled, the sheriff immediately asks what happened to cause this intrusion. With a raised voice the man (Magnus) explains that four bandits have made camp at the bridge from the Lion's way to Beregost and are demanding a toll. The sheriff answers that he will immediately signal a patrol to make its way there and deal with the bandits, but warns they often arrive too late as they have to be reached out in the field before they can be re-purposed.

After a brief interlude a patrol of Amnian Guards arrives at the bridge, finding a fight under way. A mage (Magnus) is furiously casting spells at another man as the guards cautiously approach, and a blanket of sticky tarr covers the bridge - tripping a number of people standing on it.

The Captain of the patrol is quick to assert his authority and has his men incapacitate the mage before he becomes a threat. The mage is then brought into the center of the group, with a guard behind him ready to pounce at the first hint of an arcane gesture or syllable. Having secured the premises the captain turns to the other people present at the bridge, who quickly divide into two groups. Two claim to be travelers who were solicited by the mage to assassinate the other group, consisting of three people. However, the three are described to have been asking for a toll, in exchange for a warm smile, some food or drink, and friendly company.

The Captain decides to deal with the vagrants first, as his tasking orders detail that banditry occurred at the bridge, which needs to be stopped. However, after interrogating all those present and surveying the premises he finds no traces of violence, apart from mention of several goblin corpses and attacks. Those reputedly accosted by the bandits confirm they were done no harm, and did not feel obligated to pay the toll. Judging the situation harmless the Captain then fined the vagrants occupying the bridge for illegally appropriating it, exacting one hundred gold from them. After taking their names and description he sent them on their way.

Turning to the apprehended Mage the Captain confirmed he had solicited for the murder of the three vagrants, and then attacked one of the travelers when the guard arrived. In spite of calls for a summary execution the Captain stayed his hand after confirming the mage owned an authentic permit to use magic. However, the attack still appeared unprovoked, so the mage was gagged and bound, for transport to the Sheriff.

When the bound mage was brought into his office by the Captain the Sheriff broke out into a brief spell of hilarity. He quickly recovered and asked the Captain what had happened, and then motioned for the mage to be allowed to speak, though cautiously letting the restraints remain affixed. The sheriff then learned that the Captain of the patrol had likely been duped by the three vagrants, as they were likely to be in collusion with one of the travelers. Because Magnus had initially reported four bandits to the sheriff. The sheriff also surmised that the names the 'vagrants' had given, Basil, Shieldy, and Tubby, were likely at least partially false. Though the Captain commented they were common enough in Crimmor.

As recompense the sheriff decided to let Magnus go free, he only did his civic duty after all, and offered him half of the fine that had been collected. Magnus declined, demanding the pay of the Captain and his soldiers, though the sheriff did not entertain this idea at all. Finally, Magnus decided to forgo the offered payment and asked the sheriff to donate it to the a worthy cause. The Sheriff decided to donate it to the Beregost reconstruction fund, in particular for the procurement of equipment for the local guard.
Reward
- Bandits chased away from the bridge to Beregost
- Magnus did his civic duty
- A small amount of extra funds for the Beregost guard
- The descriptions of Gruel, Prester Jax, and Morton have been forwarded to the guard as likely bandits.

23rd of March 2015 (Silent Witness)

Particpant
-Arylyth
-Kaiden Lyonard
-Umbral Mourn
Hidden: show
After an encounter with a Dark sorcerer and a group of Orcs the adventuring party of Arylyth, Kaiden and Lyonard find themselves on the Lion's Way. During a brief stop near two stone circles and a group of statues to recuperate from fighting nearby Gnolls Kaiden Lyonard feels as though he is being watched. As he catches one of the statues in the corner of his eyes it appears to be gazing at him. When he looks at it he just sees a statue with sculped eyes, however.

After feeling watched again the party comes on guard and prepares for trouble. Arylyth investigates the statue Kaiden pointed to and finds two potions of Bravery tucked away behind it. The party collects the potions, Arylyth gives one to Kaiden amid a discussion over how well he will now do with Women when they will next visit a Tavern. Umbral Mourn stoicly observes the exchange.

As the party make ready to depart Kaiden feels watched, again. Arylyth takes the initiative once more and approaches the statue left of Kaiden, which he identified as watching him. This time Arylyth finds a blank journal of Oghma.

Feeling that they have found all there was to be found the party again make ready to depart the Lion's way and head towards the Friendly Arms Inn. However, before they make way a man makes his way into the clearing. The man tells the party - in no uncertain words - that they better not have touched his store of goods, the thieves. Umbral Mourn rejoices, citing the party is blessed with the chance to return lost wares to a rightful owner. Kaiden asks the man to identify himself and prove that he owns the wares.

The man says he is a sailor in service of a Captain Jackboot, the meanest merchant sailing the seas. He then laughs, apparently at a joke. Kaiden confronts the man and asks from which port his ship sails. The man adopts a threatening posture, waving his cutlass, and demands the items back. As the confrontation continues the man concludes the party are thieves, which he assumes have been sent to harass captain Jackboot by an Amnish Merchant they ransomed in the past. The party are left confused but on guard when the man - a pirate - backs down and runs away.

The party decide to depart the Lion's way after a last search of the statues prompted by Arylyth. Kaiden decides to keep Oghma's empty journal, interpreting the find as a divine omen, and bowing to the statues. Arylyth and Umbral speculate that the Pirate had been watching them. Umbral argues that by taking the journal Kaiden is taking away the chance that it was meant for the pirates, who might have one day become monks.

The party finally depart amid speculation that the pirate might return with his shipmates if a vessel is anchored nearby.
Reward
- One blank Journal of Oghma, kept by Kaiden Lyonard.
- One Potion of Heroism, left in the stone Circle by Kaiden Lyonard.
- One Potion of Heroism, taken by Arylyth.
- Approximately 200 experience in total for each participant.

23rd of March 2015 (Omen of Peril?)

Participant
- Ivan
- Kit
- Vilmar Cystana
Hidden: show
As Ivan departs the Haunted Mansion in the Cloakwood he experiences a sudden drop of air pressure. Dust motes are blown up in front him, and gradually begin to fall back down again while far below the waves crash against the coast. As Ivan observes the falling dust he notices that it forms a visage... first a leaf of some kind, then a tusk, and then finally the visage is destroyed by a blowing wind.

Unsure how to interpret the visage Ivan quizzes himself on the tusk and the leaf. He decides that the leaf may have been an Oak leaf, significant to him, while the tusks could be related to Boars and Orcs. Perhaps Black Orcs or Orcs from nearby the Misty Forest.

Proceeding, Ivan decides to investigate the Cloakwood and while doing so stumbles across Kit and Vilmar Cystana in the Mines. Vilmar relates a tale of Orcs having been sighted near the mine's entrance, and speculates they were conducing some sort of ritual. He is unable to say where the Orcs went but agrees to help Ivan in his search. Kit mysteriously disappears in the Mines, apparently of his own volition.

After communing with nature Ivan is unable to pinpoint a particular disturbance in the Cloakwood related to Orcs. He experiences the eastern forest as healthy but less harmonious with nature than the deeper portions, and senses a degree of unease in its inhabitants. Ivan does not give up however, and ponders how to proceed based on what he found.
Reward
-Ivan begins a quest to interpret what he thinks was a vision or Divine omen.
-A few grants of roleplay experience.
