Re: Order of the Radiant Heart Role-Play
The Enemy Within, part 2
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: *having commanded the room to remain silent, the Chancellor speaks further. The Chancellor looks upon the squire, waiting.*
Cecilia Lafayette: "Proof or what I have, lays in what I have witnessed in the past few months, and others before me. . . in brief, aside from the questionable words from the Grandmaster's lips in our numerous conversations together - words which can be taken incorrectly, true, yet perhaps give pause."
Eliphas Valkarian: *his head bows down, his white mane falls over it. He looks defeated.*
Cecilia Lafayette: *taking a deep breath, the paladin continues perhaps slight traces of earnest detectable in her tone* "The rejection of a sword which held a goodly power, witnessed by Brother Ameris whom was he himself able to pick up alongside others, including Sir Alexander. There was a mole suspected then, and even now after all those senior knight save for two have turned to duty elsewhere, it is clear a traitor remains in out midst of dwindling numbers. The unusual length of my Squireship, eight months long now, even having served under Eliphas where one would assume training would be of the highest quality. Even with the approval of the Senior Knights, it was Eliphas whom ruled I was not ready. . . a decision I respect, yet holds back able and willing hands. Accepted because he is. . . like father to me." *the end of the sentence trails off, tone pained and slightly bitter.*
Ferragus Manus: *he too would look on in shock, his gaze never leaving Eliphas. Betrayal mixed with outrage and confusion was etched on his features*
Cecilia Lafayette: "Yet all these convictions sit among other puzzle pieces which seemingly slot into place with recent witness. Yes, a witness. Though I would not deign to put my faith in the words of any one man, the words come from a paladin."
Eliphas Valkarian: *his head remains bowed, his shoulders equally so. He stands there as a mere stature, his face still covered by his long white mane.*
Cecilia Lafayette: "One who is not of our Order, but has proven a loyal ally over many years. He himself witnessed Eliphas among the Zhentarim, in person, news of which was shared with me not two days ago. . ." *her words trail off then, despite her now steadier tone.*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: *the Chancellor looks among all those assembled* Do any of you assembled here, share the words that this squire states?
Cecilia Lafayette: *Her head hangs limply, gaze focused on a single tile before her humbly. Any gazing upon her would she her murmur softly, though the tongue forgeign. The tone suggests an apology.* "eye'emm esoharrarrex. . . padre." [[Cormanthan translation: "I'm sorry. . . father."]]
Ferragus Manus: *He turned to Arkaine, then back to Eliphas, still confused* Is.. is it truth she speaks?
Eliphas Valkarian: *he mumbles something in return, also in the same language* arregeeeharrdeelleeses che-cosa ehtchehpeepeeeenes... i am peearrohyoude oheph si, deehyougeeehtchteaearr. [[Cormanthan translation: "Regardless what happens... I am proud of you, daughter."]]
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: Is it true, then...this squire speaks out against her Knight-sponser, solely on her own?
Gaervin Goldenshield: *He frowns.*
Cecilia Lafayette: *Her jaw clenches in the silence as she stands alone, a quickly hidden expression of grief and pride at Eliphas' words.*
Ferragus Manus: *he jabbed a chainmailed digit at him* You seem not the least surprised of her accusation, or even outraged over it.
Eliphas Valkarian: *his head arises from its bowed down position* I knew I was a suspect, so no... it did not surprise me.
DM Novus: Arkaine makes a move towards, Eliphas...his hulking figure slow but full of righteous fury....
Gaervin Goldenshield: *He looks to Eliphas, attempting to make eye contact.*
Eliphas Valkarian: What I was about to say before being interrupted earlier was that James White was the other traitor. Beric most likely warned him before I could get my fingers in him.
DM Novus: Arkaine plows his bulk through the assembled...to land his hands upon the armor of Eliphas...seemingly ready to bash Eliphas to the ground.
Cecilia Lafayette: *Stumbles back out of the way, eyes widening slightly in horror and surprised.*
DM Novus: Eliphas makes no resistance, at first...
Eliphas Valkarian: *does not move as he sees Arkaine assault him*
DM Novus: Gaervin takes his action to draw his sword...but it is not know if in defence or offence.
Gaervin Goldenshield: *He draws his blade in a swift motion.*
Cecilia Lafayette: "Brother, this is not how we conduct ourselves." *the paladin calls out to the rage-blinded Orc.* "We are paladin, not animals."
Roll Target: Arkaine HalfOrken
DMFI Dice Roll for: Diplomacy Mod: 21 TOTAL: 40
Arkaine HalfOrken: *Arkaine grips the insides of Eliphas' breastplate and forces him down to his knees (or attempts to if needed), and bellows* I would know the truth of it, swear your will, your heart and your soul to thine wisdom of Torm!
Ferragus Manus: *Sensing movement from the corner of his eye, he would slide his large bastard sword from its sheathe- perhaps expecting more treachery from other sources although he did not impede Arkaine's charge*
Arkaine HalfOrken: Roll Target: Eliphas Valkarian
DMFI Dice Roll for: Strength Mod: 9 TOTAL: 15
Eliphas Valkarian: Roll Target: General Area
DMFI Dice Roll for: Strength Mod: 5 TOTAL: 6
DM Novus: Arkaine's fury pushes Eliphas to one knee...but Eliphas holds there, only marginally within Arkaine's grappling move. Cecilia pleads aloud for Arkaine to temper his actions, while Ferragus prepares his sword for other treachery. Gaervin also.
Gaervin Goldenshield: *Gaervin lets out a holler, as strong and deep as he can muster.* "Enough! We shall have due process!"
Gaervin Goldenshield: Roll Target: General Area
DMFI Dice Roll for: Diplomacy Mod: 24 TOTAL: 30
Eliphas Valkarian: *gets brought down to his knees. Eliphas looks up at Arkaine, spitting blood to the side.* You done or can I continue...?
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: Hold your rage, Sir! *the Chancellor beams his own facial fury upon the grappling Knights before him*
Gaervin Goldenshield: *The gnome does not enter a combat stance, his blade's grasp directed towards the floor.*
Eliphas Valkarian: If you wish... you may peek into my soul and discern the good in me, Chancellor. *he says, looking almost defiantly at Arkaine*
Arkaine HalfOrken: *His fangs bared in fury, he begins to bellow once more, before his head yanks around to meet the gaze of the Chancellor. And after a moment he releases Eliphas and takes a step back.*
Cecilia Lafayette: *The young paladin's hand is no where near her blade for a change, though she seems intent and aware.*
Eliphas Valkarian: *he readjusts his mithral armour, then looks at Arkaine again.*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: *the Chancellor sweeps his gaze upon all before him, relying on the situation to have calmed slightly, before he continues*
Ferragus Manus: *He rumbled a deep earthy sound, something akin to the shifting of boulders in a mountain slide. He didn't look too convinced at Eliphas's words*
Arkaine HalfOrken: *His gaze reflects the horror and anguish of betrayal more than anything, before he takes a few more steps back.*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: *to all but Eliphas, the Chancellor motions with his hand for them to step back, to the last of the benches before him*
Cecilia Lafayette: *Takes a bench up the very back, her expression haunted.*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: *to Eliphas, with his right hand gauntlet, he motions the Knight to move before him. *
Gaervin Goldenshield: *The gnome sheaths his blade in another swift practised motion.*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: *with his left hand, he motions for Cecilia to come forward to the right side of Eliphas, so that both reside directly in front of him*
Ferragus Manus: *he too would slide his blade back into the sheathe on his hip*
Eliphas Valkarian: *He moves in front of the Chancellor, giving Arkaine and the others a last stern and disappointed look before turning around to face his Excellency.*
Cecilia Lafayette: *She swallows and stands once more. Her gait slow, she moves to stand beside her mentor.*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: Stand before me, both of you. *his stern glare is evident*
Eliphas Valkarian: *he looks straight ahead at the Chancellor*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: Closer...*the Chancellor points to a place within arms reach of himself, for both to move fowards. As they do so, the Chancellor begins to speak* Knight Eliphas Valkarian, you have been accused of deceiving the Most Noble Order of the Radiant Heart by none other than your own squire.
Eliphas Valkarian: So it appears, your Excellence. *he simply affirms it*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: In an Order where obedience and faith are unbreakable foundations of our Code, it disturbs all that defines a Paladin Order...that a Knight is challenged by their own squire! *he bellows as if the concept annoys him*
Cecilia Lafayette: *Her eyes find the floor, brow furrowed yet her jaw remains set in her conviction.*
Eliphas Valkarian: Former squire. She is to be raised into knighthood once the oaths are to be sworn. As any squire of mine before her. *he confirms*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: As I look upon this Squire, her radiance does not diminish, after her words were spoken, thus they would not be lies that come from her heart...yet....
Cecilia Lafayette: *Her eyes flicker to her left, and away.*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: It is deceit that works into false truths, and a Knight that watches over a Squire is responsible to guide their Squire. It is your willingness to allow the blessing of Torm to shed light upon your loyalty, your righteousness, so that this Squire may see the Truth as it exists under divine guidance?
Eliphas Valkarian: As I said before.. if you wish to lay witness to all that is good in me, do so. A dark heart can deceive, a good one cannot.
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: *the Chancellor looks at Elipahs*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: *he raises his right hand...the massive and decorated gauntlet begins to glow...*
Eliphas Valkarian: *the Grandmaster looks back with his one eye*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: Behold...the Guantlet of the Loyal Fury ... *the guantlet begins to glow even more, in divine white light*
Cecilia Lafayette: *Eyes upon the gauntlet in wonder as it glows, a hopeful expression finds her features combined with a mix of other emotions. . . relief, confusion, embarrassment, saddness. . .*
Eliphas Valkarian: *grabs her hand and squeezes it*
Cecilia Lafayette: "I'm sorry. . ." *She murmurs softly.*
Eliphas Valkarian: *Whispers* You did what you thought right. I expect nothing else from you.
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: Eliphas Valkarian....grasp this Gauntlet in honor and faith, clasp hands with the blessing of Torm...and answer this unto Him: To which Lord do you give ultimate faith? *the Chancellor reaches out the Gauntlet*
Arkaine HalfOrken: *His neck reaches forward, as his beady eyes seem both captivated and fixated on the gauntlet in wonder and desperation.*
Eliphas Valkarian: *raises his hand and places it on the gauntlet* I, Eliphas Valkarian, Justiciar and Knight of the Radiant Heart swear allegiance to the Maimed God, may his justice be found today.
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: Roll Target: Chancellor Omased Nobleheart
DMFI Dice Roll for: Will Mod: 21 TOTAL: 31
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: *Eliphas touches the Guantlet with an impressive willfullness...the divine white glow...begins to fade... the Chancellor's face turns grim, as he looks up from the Gauntlet to the face of Eliphas...the two still in a clasp of hands*
Eliphas Valkarian: *the one eyes stares intensily into the other man's two*
Cecilia Lafayette: *She glances to the gauntlet, her features crumbling as her stomach drops. Slowly, she attempts to pull her hand away from Eliphas'*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: *the Chancellor speaks* A blessing from Torm is not given, Eliphas Valkarian....*his voice trails off, as he glares at Eliphas*
Cecilia Lafayette: *If her hand does not come away easily, she would attempt to yank it free.*
Eliphas Valkarian: *he pulls his sword out, the blade changing its appearance from its usual light hue to a darker and grim one. An unholy baneblade, which evil corruptive aura can be felt by anyone in the room. He attempts to pull the gauntled arm closer trying to end the Chancellor's life.*
DM Novus: Eliphas makes a Surprise Round action.... The power of his true Faith powers his Initiative, the Baneblade flying from sheath to mid-section of the Chancellor in a massive blow. All stand in shock...all but the face of the Chancellor, who recently came to know Eliphas...
Arkaine HalfOrken: *He bellows a defiant roar.* Blasphemy! To arms! *He yanks his giant mace out from behind him as he does so.*
Ferragus Manus: *His gauntlet again moved to the pommel of his sheathed blade, and the hiss of steel filled the air of the sanctified hall. The genasi bellowed with the fury of a mountain, his visage sullen and foreboding when he set his features like this* Treachery!
DM Novus: The Chancellor's body slowly slips off the Baneblade, backwards to the floor, as Eliphas turns his attention to Cecilia.
Cecilia Lafayette: *Assuming he still holds her hand which she was unable to wrench free, she reaches for her blade with the other, features twisted in rage and horror.*
Eliphas Valkarian: Roll Target: Cecilia Lafayette
DMFI Dice Roll for: Strength Mod: 5 TOTAL: 14
DM Novus: Eliphas turns and manages to grapple Cecelia, placing his sword to her in an attempt to take her hostage. He may or may not face the rest...and Cecilia may or may not make an attempt to break the grapple.
Blake Keeper of Rolls and Deeds:*the Keeper drops his book...moving to the aid of the Chancellor*
Paladin Dedicated to Torm: *The Paladins remove their blades....*
Cecilia Lafayette: Roll Target: Eliphas Valkarian
DMFI Dice Roll for: Strength Mod: 6 TOTAL: 9
Eliphas Valkarian: [Talk] Roll Target: Cecilia Lafayette
DMFI Dice Roll for: Strength Mod: 5 TOTAL: 23
DM Novus: Arkaine's voice rings throughout the Guild, awakening all to the situation. He and Ferragus march toward Eliphas and Cecilia...but they see Cecilia struggle...and that she is helplessly held by Eliphas, who could easily give here a killing blow with with his Baneblade (for the moment, at least).
Cecilia Lafayette: *She seems grave and solemn at the nearing of the end her life, her neck pressing into the blade as she struggled. Understanding the situation, Cecilia looks to her brothers to carry out what was needed.* "The courage of one. . ." *she murmurs, ready to see permanent end for the Chancellor's safety*
Chancellor Omased Nobleheart: *bleeding badly...*
Eliphas Valkarian: Hold it right there, brothers. *Eliphas smirks as he holds his baneblade at Cecilia's neck* You do not wish another innocent death on your hands, do you?
Ferragus Manus:*He marched forward, his face a mask of fury. He jabbed his chainmailed finger at Eliphas and bellowed* Release her, traitorous filth!
Eliphas Valkarian: I will... once we are far away from here. You have my... word. *Smiles*
Ferragus Manus: You don't honestly believe you are walking out of here alive..
Eliphas Valkarian: *puts some pressure on the blade at her neck, a drop of blood appears.* Maybe I do. Any assault on me will result in her death... do you really wish to end her life before it has really begun?
Arkaine HalfOrken: *Arkaine sees the resolve in Cecilia's eyes and does not pause in his stride as bellows Helm's name and channels as much of his power as he can into a smiting blow directed at Eliphas' head.*
Eliphas Valkarian: *as Arkaine attacks with his mace, Eliphas instinctively moves Cecilia in front of it to protect himself from the blow.*
DM Novus: Arkaine makes a mighty blow at Eliphas...but the Now Known Dark Knight moves Cecilia's head into the direct swing of the head of the warmace. A great sound of crunching bones is heard, as her face caves in.
Ferragus Manus: *he charged Eliphas without pause, swinging his great blade down in an arc to inbed into Eliphas's shoulder. It misses and clangs against the ground.*
Arkaine HalfOrken: By her death your dark god shall not absolve you! *He bellows, and his next resounding swing comes around as another smiting blow directed at Eliphas.*
DM Novus: As Cecilia falls toward the ground, Eliphas remains hold of her limp, barely alive body by ring of her armor. Arkaine and Ferragus raise their weapons as if to charge heavily into close combat amongst both hostages and not. Eliphas, in the split seconds that pass swings his sword towards the fallen Chancellor, taunting the two Paladins to continue their swings, knowing that if they were to continue, the Baneblade would find again a home in the body of the Chancellor, possibly resulting in an innocent death.
Eliphas Valkarian: Ah-ah... not so fast, gentlemen. *holds his blade right above the neck of the heavily bleeding chancellor.* Continue and you will see another death on your hands. And another. And another.
DM Novus: The Paladins realize the grave situation here: act, and possibly kill the Dark Knight Eliphas, or...not act, and save the life of an innocent, wounded man.
Eliphas Valkarian: The solution is quite easy, brothers. You all promise me that I can leave with Cecilia. She will be returned to you once I have a talk with her... unless Arkaine's blow was a bit too fatal.
Blake Keeper of Rolls and Deeds: *the Keeper can only hold onto the Chancellors open gut wound*
Karl: *carefully closes the doorway behind itself, after passing through. He holds a small letter in hand*
Cecilia Lafayette: *Has a lovely smashed in face, looking quite unconscious in her bloody state*
Thedran: *Takes in the scene. .*
Karl: *slowly turns its helmed head, taking in the scene in font of it - in particular the unconscious Cecilia*
Eliphas Valkarian: *holds Cecilia's limp body in his one arm, his sword pointed at the neck of the downed Chancellor. He wears a smirk on his face* Looks like the cavalry arrived...
Thedran: Kill him.
DM Novus: As the seconds pass, yes, only seconds...the members of the Guild start entering the room...it seems that the Dark Knight Eliphas has become fully surrounded.
Thedran: Do -Not- negotiate. *Pulls his sword and moves forward*
Karl: *blocks the very staircase with its massive bulk - following closely behind Thedran. It reaches for the shield hanging from its left shoulder and pulls it over its chest - while still unsure of what is unfolding in the chapel. It stands quietly, its free hand reaching for the halberd dangling from its right shoulder - but not taking any action*
Gaervin Goldenshield: *he would take the hammer from his belt after regaining his senses.*
DM Novus: As Eliphas has moved his attention towards the Chancellor, an opportunity presents itself to save Cecilia from his grasp. It would be an opportunity that would disrupt the direct attack of either Arkaine or Ferragus.
Ferragus Manus: *Being in mid swing, he believes himself capable of striking a blow before Eliphas's blade fell fatal on the Chancellor, so he does not halt the downward arc of his blade.*
Arkaine HalfOrken: *He continues the swing of his mace in an arc directed at Eliphas' neck, invoking the power of Helm into a smiting blow.*
DM Novus: Ferragus breaks his greatsword toward Eliphas, but the Dark Knight dodges it barely...this bringing his body closer into the swing of Arkaine. Gaervin takes advantage of the situation---and his stature---and pulls at Cecelia's feet, slowly getting her away from Eliphas' grasp.
Ferragus Manus: *He grunted solidly as his blade clanged against the marble floor, barely missing Eliphas*
Eliphas Valkarian: *Eliphas laughs at Ferragus' missed swing* Too big, too slow...
DM Novus: Arkaine's might warmace rings true against the Dark Knight, smiting evil as evil is. The divine force of the smite causes a visable grimace of pain to cross the face of the one-eyed deceiver.
Arkaine HalfOrken: *Swings about twenty pounds of wrought iron justice as he bellows* "Helm absolves you!"
Thedran: *Raises his free hand. . his eyes locked on the scuffle*
DM Novus: The blow by Arkaine is made with such force, that Eliphas is pushed across the prone body of the Chancellor...the Guantlet of Loyal Fury rolling off the Chancellor's hand, to lie just at the feet of Eliphas. The Paladins of Athkatla, and the Keeper, look to the Guantlet, with worry....
Eliphas Valkarian: Ugh... *he leans up against the altar, his hand reaching up to the wound and then looks at his blood on his hand. He then notices the gauntlet at his feet, his lips curl into a sinister smirk.*
DM Novus: The assembled watch as Eliphas makes a move....
Karl: *the Artificer chooses to remain on the stairs, instead of storming off toward into the fray - taking up a defensive pose and taking its mighty halberd from its massive shoulder*
Eliphas Valkarian: *he quickly leans down to grab the gauntlet while keeping an eye on the others.* Lookie what we have here... *he gets a hold of the precious gauntlet and leans back up again, holding the artifact in front of his smiling face.* Very kind of you to deliver me this parting gift, brothers.
Thedran: *Shouts* BE STILL!
Karl: *the iron behemoth does not say a word, as he never does - and readies the sharp end of its halbard for anyone trying to flee by the flight of stairs*
DM Novus: Gaervin has managed to drag Cecilia securely away from Eliphas' grasp. Thedran shouts a word designed to cloud minds....
Eliphas Valkarian: Be sure to bring her back as I remember her, Gaervin... *he looks slightly emotionally conflicted as he looked at Cecilia's body for a brief moment. It all disappears once Thedran utters something.*
Roll Target: General Area
DMFI Dice Roll for: Will Mod: 30 TOTAL: 49
DM Novus: The command of "BE STILL" that rushes towards Eliphas...only seems to make him more...angry.
Eliphas Valkarian: *he starts laughing all wickedly* Did you really think your little tricks had any affect on One of Bane's Favoured...?
Thedran: I think your head will decorate the road. So gloat. . while you can.
Karl: *deciding its previous stance would be detrimental, the massive behemoth rushes forth and settles at Ferragus' side - it storms forth under a loud orchestra of metallic clanging*
DM Novus: The weight of warriors towers over the Dark Knight...as he calls out to his true, chosen Lord Bane. In that instant, a dark cloud bursts from Eliphas, his figure slowly dissolving....
Arkaine HalfOrken: *The swing of his next blow passes through the dark mist and he bellows in outrage as his mace drives into the stone floor and he finally halts.*
DM Novus: The now known Dark Knight flees...Cecilia and the Chancellor...remain. The air is heavy with surprise...and conflict still lingers, as realizations begin to settle upon all those that have witnessed the unveiling of the deceiver Eliphas Valkarian.
Arkaine HalfOrken: *Arkaine throws his mace aside and it lands on the stone floor with a clatter, and he reaches down to invoke Lay on Hands on the Chancellor, as a golden light emanates from his leather gauntleted hand.*
Ferragus Manus: Clerics! *he bellowed, gesturing for a standing paladin to fetch the clerics of the order. His visage is a mask of outrage, transformed from its usual granite placid look*
DM Novus: The Chancellor receives the power that lies within the Half-orcs hands. He is saved from death, that is for certain. However, thought the wounds close and color returns to the Chancellor's face almost immediately, some might wonder if the wound by the Baneblade has any lingering effect...as he remains comatose.
Karl: *hangs its halberd over its large shoulder, dangling by a leather strap*
Thedran: *Sheaths his weapon*
Gaervin Goldenshield: *the gnome performs his lay on hands on Cecilia as well, placing both open palms on her.*
Arkaine HalfOrken: *His eyes glow with golden radiance for a moment, and then the light flickers out as the Half Orc stands with the Chancellor cradled in his arms.*
Ferragus Manus: *he would sheathe his blade in a quick practised motion and thud to a single knee before Cecilia, casting his own poultry healing prayers on her in an effort to assist*
DM Novus: Cecilia receives the power of Gaervin's hands...her bones and skin returning to their natural shape and beauty...and as they do, her consciousness returns. And soon, reality of what has occurred sets in to her thoughts...
Thedran: *Folds his arms*
Cecilia Lafayette: *Stirring, a soft groan leaves her lips as she overcomes her unconscious state, her limbs shifting, twitching. Her features are crest-fallen as the knowledge returns to her in a crushing wave, and for a moment her expression is one of deep hurt and despair.*
Arkaine HalfOrken: Blasphemy has been wrought here! By Helm we must recover thine Gauntlet of Torm!
Karl: *approaches Cecilia with the utmost care*
Cecilia Lafayette: *Her eyes shoot open, body jolting upright as she calls out the name of her former mentor. The fingers of her sword arm clutch nothing but air.*
Karl: *places down a well-packaged bundle, containing all manner of medical substances and tools, then shoves it toward Gaervin*
Ferragus Manus: *he placed a large hand on her shoulder to steady her* He has escaped for now. He attempted to take you with him, sister.
Karl: *a deep sound rumbles within the iron giant's face mask almost resembling the sound of anger.*
Thedran: *Cracks his neck*
Arkaine HalfOrken: *He sets the chancellor down gently and steps away.*
Cecilia Lafayette: *The paladin checks herself over with a grimace. Head pounding, her gaze drifts to the Chancellor, a look of concern.* "He no longer has claim to this place, at least. His end will come swiftly when the time comes." *she murmurs hoarsely*
Thedran: *grumbles and turns on his heel*
Ferragus Manus: *The genasi nodded to karl, appreciative for the giant's help*
Cecilia Lafayette: *She reaches a hand out toward Karl, still dazed, but clearly a sign of gratitude before turning her hazy gaze in Gaervin's direction.*
Ferragus Manus: What of the Chancellor? *he asked of Arkaine* How does he fare?
Gaervin Goldenshield: *He says gently to her.* "You have done good this day." *He then rises to his feet, his gaze turning a glare.*
Arkaine HalfOrken: *He nods and grunts.* Aye, he will live.
Ferragus Manus: Rrrgh. It was as you expected, Brother. I did not truely believe it myself until Sister Cecilia came forward.
Cecilia Lafayette: *Pulling herself to her feet as best she can, she stumbles slightly under what feels like a heavy load as she attempts to hold onto her dignity. Her features set into a firm, hardened expression.*
Arkaine HalfOrken: Three traitors within our Order. . . We hath been befouled.
Ferragus Manus: And disgraced.
Cecilia Lafayette: "No." *she shakes her pounding head.* "We will rise up. Better and stronger than we were."
Ferragus Manus: *he clenched a big fist before himself, shame evident on his features* We should of known... *he turned to look at Cecilia and nod absently, even if he didn't believe her words right now*
Gaervin Goldenshield: "We shall see our honor renewed when this man's head is righteously separated from his body."
Cecilia Lafayette: "I apologise. I couldn't. . . risk telling anyone sooner, as I am sure you understand. Our slate has been wiped clean this day, the taste of betrayal bitter. But we will overcome. We are puppets no longer."
Karl: *reaches for its familiar pouch of illustrated cards - takes out three cards and reveals them in its mighty ironclad hands: one shows a drawing of Eliphas, the other a picture of Darkhold, and finally two armies in battle*
Cecilia Lafayette: *She holds her head in her hands, the blood throbbing in her ears as she looks over the cards.* "Yes. . . war has been waged, and we will fight."
Karl: *tears apart the image of Eliphas, then merges the card of Darkhold and the two fighting armies together, folding them into a tiny package*
Ferragus Manus: *he let forth a sigh, his head hung momentarily*
Arkaine HalfOrken: Hrgnn. . . Perhaps I hath been a fool these long years. Perhaps it is in reaching out and accepting thine support of other righteous individuals along thine Sword Coast, that will see the forces of evil laid low. *He wanders off somewhat as he speaks.*
Cecilia Lafayette: "I have made steps in which we might do so, if that is what the Order wishes." *She trails off and watches the group dissipate, rubbing her temples.*
Karl: *rumbles with a deep sound, resembling a voice... sounding like: "...grrmmbrlll-waaahhhrrr-grrrrr..."*
Cecilia Lafayette: *Cecilia would motion to the nearby paladin and guard to take the chancellor to the guest suite and see him comfortable.*
Ferragus Manus: *He lifted his head to look up at Karl, perhaps wondering what he is saying.*
Karl: *hangs its shield back over its left shoulder*
Cecilia Lafayette: *After a few moments, the paladin moves to the fountain pool of holy water and stares down into it in silence.*
Paladin Dedicated to Tyr: *gently puts an arm under the Chancellors shoulder and lifts him up*
Blake Keeper of Rolls and Deeds: "I'd best go with him. . ."
Cecilia Lafayette: "Please do, Sir. I will send a cleric after you." *she calls over, glancing at him briefly with a solemn nod before gazing back to her own bloodied reflection in thought.*
Arkaine HalfOrken: Hrgn, Brother Blake.
Blake Keeper of Rolls and Deeds: "Hm?" *looks a little disheveled from the ordeal, still covered in the Chancellors blood*
Arkaine HalfOrken: I do not think anyone here will object if you and The Most Noble Order hath full expense of our resources while the Chancellor is recovering.
Blake Keeper of Rolls and Deeds: *he nods slowly* "Ah yes. . . I shall inform the Chancellor when he recovers."
Arkaine HalfOrken: I am sorry for this great evil wrought on your liege. *He grunts.*
Gaervin Goldenshield: "I will alert the men at arms at the gates..."
Blake Keeper of Rolls and Deeds: *he nods quietly, producing a few parchments and refills his inkhouse - the Keeper of Rolls and Deeds has quite a task ahead of him to recount*

Re: Order of the Radiant Heart Role-Play
After a brief though purposeful follow-up trip to the temple of Torm within Baldur's Gate, Cecilia is disappointed to learn that none of the local clerics have been tied up in their own duties and unable to heed her call for aid. Returning to the Chapterhouse without delay she checks in with the Athkaltan guard watching over the Chancellor and the condition of their honoured guest.
Some time later, Cecilia meets with a golden-haired woman outside the gate whom mentioned she had met with Arkaine not long before. Surprised that the half-orc had not offered such given the woman's interest, she ushers the paladin into the manor to discuss possible Squireship. Once concluded, the guest is farewelled at the gate and departs with a heavy tome in hand.

Re: Order of the Radiant Heart Role-Play
*A recently returned templar of Ilmater has lately been spending an unusual amount of time in the vicinity of the Radiant Heart chapterhouse, though only on the exterior. He seems to approach and then turn away, looking torn and a bit forlorn. Ultimately he ends up returning to his duties eventually at the temple of Ilmater each time, his head hung low, almost as if in shame or embarassment.*

Re: Order of the Radiant Heart Role-Play
Having noticed Colwyn in one of many patrols of the area both within and outside the Gates of the Chapterhouse, Cecilia raises a hand in greeting to the acquaintance even as it goes unnoticed by the quickly departing man. The paladin makes a mental note to follow up on this when their paths cross in future.

A woman in light brown studded leather approaches in the evening during a downpour, her long red wet hair draped over her face. She approaches the guard with a warm smile.
"Hello there, wonderful evening isn't it?" reasserting a smile and holding out a key in outstretched hand "Most curious, I found this near a campfire not too far down the road from the Silver Rose keep. The engraving mentions Thedran by name, he should probably have it" She hands him the key, waves and walks away as casually as she arrived

Upon seeing off a familiar golden-haired guest from the gate of the Chapterhouse with the warmest of smiles, Cecilia's gaze lingers on the departing figure until he fades from view and then turns to the Man at Arms as he approaches her. Her brows lift as the key is presented and the story that came with it. Eyes narrowing on the item in the guard's gloved hand, the paladin clicks her tongue thoughtfully and requests it be held for Thedran himself. The key does not enter the compound.

Re: Order of the Radiant Heart Role-Play
A bell tolls from within the Order of the Radiant Heart Courtyard, signalling a new beginning for the auxiliary as a number of ceremonies for it's Brotherhood are undertaken within it's halls.
Brother Gaervin Goldenshield is named the Official Keeper of Records and Deeds for the Order, a proud, honourable role in being the lawful keeper of the history that the Auxiliary will come to make.
New squire, Artoria Pendragon is ordained into the most Radiant Order and mentored by Brother Arkaine of Helm.
Sister Cecilia Lafayette reaches and is granted Knighthood after the unusual extension of her Squireship.
Brother Ferragus Manus and Brother Gaervin Goldenshield are recognised and knighted as Senior Knights of the Order.
After a tied vote of the nominees for Grandmaster of which was broken only by his own vote of self, Brother Arkaine of Helm is recognised and knighted as the leader of the Baldur's Gate chapter of the Most Noble Order of the Radiant Heart.
The assembled Knights and members of the Auxiliary are relieved that the ranks have become fulfilled once more. Thus the book closes on the Radiant Heart of old, opening instead to a freshly opened page, a new chapter beginning for the Order as all look to the future.

Re: Order of the Radiant Heart Role-Play
*Colwyn Hereford, templar of Ilmater, can be seen speaking with Arkaine of Helm just outside the Radiant Heart chapterhouse. After a lengthy discussion Colwyn entered with Arkaine. He can be seen leaving later with some sort of scrolled parchment in hand and a look of determination plainly obvious.*

Re: Order of the Radiant Heart Role-Play
A letter is left with the guard of the keep, written in common ink on a common piece of parchment, but finely made;
To most honorable Grandmaster Arkaine Halforken.
I am Magnus Illustrian, Warpriest and favored to the Even-Handed and Just Tyr.
I have just recently arrived to this land from Waterdeep, where I've studied under Tyr's priesthood in the Halls of Justice. I've traveled to the frontier for I was rarely needed in the bustling city, while out here, many could benefit from my toils.
I've talked to Sir Auron about petitioning for a position of Squire with your most benevolent order. While my hands may not be the strongest and my body might be mediocre, my thirst for Justice and a strong moral code compels me to offer my aid to your most esteemed order, whatever that aid may be, weather tending to the wounded or maintaining my better's gear, as long as it would serve the just cause of the Triad.
If you would deem me worthy of your time, I would request an audience regarding my acceptance among your rank.
Until then I will work on my own, aid whomever might need my hand and await your response.

Re: Order of the Radiant Heart Role-Play
A small caravan pulls up to the gates of the Chapterhouse accompanied by two blonde paladin of white and black armor. Together the two enter the manor and proceed transfer a number of crates, making the few repetitive trips to place them on the cart. Once completed, the entourage continues in a southerly direction.

Re: Order of the Radiant Heart Role-Play
A mysterious raven has taken up residence in one of the trees within the Radiant Heart's Compound, which is not that unusual... wasn't it for the fact it seems to have no interest in the other ravens that are about, keeping its keen pitch black eyes on any and all humanoids.

Re: Order of the Radiant Heart Role-Play
[[ OOC: Not to be Meta-Gamed ]]
It had been well over a tenday since Cecilia took up residence in the Song of the Morning temple in Beregost and close to another since that offer had been extended to indefinite accommodation. An offer she had been all too willing to take up. As the doors of the temple opened and a hulking, stone-like figure stepped through, Cecilia could already guess what the following conversation would entail.
The blonde paladin bows with fist over heart, rich purple cloak swishing from her shoulders. "Well met, Brother Ferragus."
"And you sister." he returned the salute and cast a slow thoughtful glance about the small temple "Hrmm." he rumbled in his deep earthy voice. "The Temple to Lathander. I had heard you moved here to Beregost. This is the Temple in which you reside?"
The Genasi's gemstone eyes took in the temple once more, before returning to Cecilia. The paladin watched him carefully all the while. There it was. The judgement. She had given everything. Everything she had. She had died for her cause. Felt the sting of betrayal. Watched those around her rise in rank while she remained stagnant. Yet it was never enough. Perhaps never would be. Stop it. The Paladin scolded herself quietly. That train of thought it dangerous and you know it.
Even now, the words of the stone giant rang in the back of her mind To rise from Squire to Grandmaster is simply unheard of. She is still young and lacks experience. On that note there is only one true nomination in my eyes, and that is Arkaine HalfOrken. It was not as if she disagreed, in fact it was not a position she had expected. Yet it was no less disappointing that she was deemed unworthy. Be it age. Gender. Experience. Circumstances. The Half-Orcs words had followed, agreeing to the point of poignantly stating all that she was not. Thine leader of this host must be able to lead us into battle. Into thine thick of battle, and seek out the most heinous villain to accost. He must be pure and unadulterated, and willing to give of himself his life to thine cause without hesitation. Hith honor and sense of chivalry must be without question, and must seem daunted by no foe. Hrgnn. I can see no other option than to give of my vote to myself at this hour. . .
"This is." Cecilia states, clasping her hands behind her back. "I will be lodging here until further notice." Ferragus' rocky features form a slight frown and he clanks forward, offering a respectful nod to Kelddath as he does so. "I see. Duty calls you here then?"
The paladin's tone is cautious, caged. "In a sense yes. No more or less than in the North."
"I could not help but notice that this happened almost directly after Brother Arkaine was deemed the new Grandmaster of the Chapter House. Did this effect the move here?" he asks, moving a large plate gauntlet up to scratch at the long scar chipped away into his cheek, with a single mailed digit.
"I have my reasons for the relocation, many. It was offered, and so I took it. You understand that among other things, I court the Dawnknight Eldarian, Commander of the Lathanderite Templars within these halls." her brows loft slightly, chin tilting upwards without shame. And it was true, she had many reasons. There was too much. . . pain in that place. Memories. Judgement. Hypocrisy. A break was needed, lest the bitterness eat away at her. The fact that such was offered in the halls of the one place she had felt most at home, in her most cherished company made it all the more welcoming.
Nodded slowly, the Genasi shifted bulk shifted. A deep earthy hum resonated from the figure, that echoing softly through the hallowed halls. "I did not know. Does Ameris frequent these halls as well?"
"He does not. Not often enough to be noted. He has his own duties to attend to." the paladin states plainly, a wave of her hand before it returns to the other behind her armored form.
"Tis good to see you are. . . well." he gestures to her with a gauntlet "The deceiver Eliphas wronged us all greatly, but you the most."
A weight presses down on chest as the topic surfaces, pale golden brows furrowing heavily. "He will answer for his sins." she states with a single nod. Determined. Firm. Unyielding.
"I am told he and other Zhentarim cur confronted you at the fair recently." A dark scowl etched itself over the Senior Knight's rocky features at her calm reply."He did. They were here, outside this very temple."
"No doubt they were taking advantage of the no combat agreement."
"Apparently they were participating in the faire, within the boundaries of the law. Yes." Her blue eyed gaze drifts over the genasi with a stoic expression, though a slight frown twitches her brow. "Brother Gaervin was present, as well as Sir Alecar of Tyr and the Construct of Gond. Witness to the Dread Lord's words."
"You have not seen him since?"
Cecilia's brow does crease then, a frown finding her feminine though stern features. Was he daring to imply that she had been doing so? That she was any less of a knight than he because the man whom had squired her had in fact been the Lord Castelleon of Darkhold? Her response is curt, laced with a tone that implied offense. "I have not. Why would I?"
"I have a feeling you will." Ferragus states sourly, his gaze again moving around the Temple interior. "It is possible he may attempt to capture you again. You know him better than any other." He leans in closer, the shadows playing over his facial features, giving the genasi an almost sinister look of determination. "I would know his strengths and weaknesses in combat. His favoured weapon, his sword technique, all of it."
A sad day it is when those you consider Brothers and Sisters, those you have fought for and alongside shun you with idle threats and accusations. The blonde's jaw clenches softly, eyes narrowing slightly at both the demands and the realisation. "I do not believe he wishes to capture me. Well, no perhaps he does. Kill me, however, is a different matter and unlikely. You have seen his favoured weapon; the Baneblade. He was not foolish to use any of his dark blessings in front of me during the time I squired under him."
"Yes, a fell blade that radiates with evil energies. He is a blackguard, this much I know. What struck me odd was how different he seemed when he revealed himself at the Chapter House. He was overconfident, cocky, and almost seemed addled in the head with madness."
"Likely his true personality." replies the Tyrran, tapping the side of her head with the words that followed. "Though I did not witness much of it. As you know I was . . . indisposed."
Seeming to ignore her comment and the near-death experience surrounding it, the earth genasi continues with his interrogation. "Did you ever spar with Eliphas?
"We did, yes, though not at any great length. He mostly watched on and coached technique from the sidelines, pushing endurance and correct use of blade."
Pick it up, Girl. You don't want to end up fat like Ameris, do you? Strike hard, where it counts.
You're holding back Cecilia. My squire does not hold back. Now strike like you mean it!
"Did he show any apparent flaws or weakness when you fought with him? Against other creatures, perhaps?"
Cecilia she shakes her head slowly, both in relation to the question asked and the reminiscing. A pensive expression settles on her features. "Not that I can recall. In fact it was all very simple. He swung his blade as any other would, creatures fell as others would. He is as skilled, if not more so than any Knight with blade. Fast, surprisingly agile given his age. I cannot think on anything out of the ordinary."
"Hrm." He went silent for a time, as if to ponder something. Perhaps the legitimacy of her words. "Very well. If you can recall anything that may assist me in finding and bringing him to justice, then I will hear it."
"Ameris has fought alongside him previously, perhaps you might ask there." the paladin offers dutifully. Emotions, accusations aside she was still oathsworn.
"I will." comes Ferragus' reply before the genasi goes silent again for a time. Eventually more words grind from his maw in a reluctant fashion. "I hope you do not hold my decision of choosing Arkaine over you personally."
Your decision? No. It was yours to make, after all, even after months of absence. Your decision, even, to discredit all that I have worked hard to bring about. All that I have been through. Intentional? Perhaps not. Yet why is it with Eliphas' discovery it's as if I'm on the outside looking in? "Such is the decision of the Senior Knights, I am sure you and Brother Gaervin will continue to serve and uphold the oaths and the presence of the Order as you have been trusted to do."
"I believe you will make a fine Grandmaster in the future."
"Perhaps." she waves her hand dismissively with a quiet sigh. "I have given up any aspirations of such, if it happens in future so be it. I do not chase it any longer."
Ferragus reaches into his tunic, his large hand coming out clenched. Holding it out before her, he opens up his hand to reveal a small gem, pale red in colour. "Earth Genasi often collect and keep rare rocks that they like." he explains with the sound of rocks grating upon on another. A single delicate brow raises on the female's forehead, looking to the gem and back to the stoney figure. "It is common that to seal or placate any indifference or misunderstanding that we offer or trade such rocks. Take it, the garnet has a noble name, reminding me of yourself."
Cecilia's blue-eyed gaze returns to the gem atop the rocky paw of a hand, staring at it for a time in quiet contemplation she eventually shakes her head, ponytail swaying from the motion. "Keep it Brother" comes the quiet reply, followed by a polite dip of the paladin's head. "There is no misunderstanding. I would not seek to take such from you."
His features soften slightly, and he withdraws his hand. "As you wish." He states before turning to clank out. "Helm protect you, sister."
"Tyr guide your blade, Brother." she bows, fist over heart as she watches him depart, gaze lingering on the temple door even after it closes.

Re: Order of the Radiant Heart Role-Play
It was not often that he visited Beregost, and even less often that he lingered more than a day or so. The hardy genasi preferred the open road to the bustling streets. Some passer-by’s stopped to stare at the Paladin, who must of looked intimidating in his battered battle hardened full plate armour. He told himself he was solitary by nature, although in truth it was probably not by choice.
Ferragus Manus was an Earth Genasi, and shared many of the unusual characteristics of his kind. He was not a conversationalist, he was not easy to laugh or make friends with. He was as different to many of his human brothers and sisters in the Order as night was to day. This was in part reason why he and Arkaine were kindred spirits and got along so well. He could count on one hand the amount of other Earth Genasi he had ever seen in his travels, and had lived among humans for all of his life. Despite this, he still found them difficult to discern, and often emotionally unstable when it came to certain things, things he did not believe were worth getting upset over. Sister Cecilia’s immediate departure from the Chapter House after Arkaine was declared Grandmaster had been the reason for his visit to Beregost.
As he neared, he saw the two Templars stationed outside the Temple to Lathander. Despite being a vision to behold in their armour of gleaming silver plate, the sight brought a slight wrinkle of his lip. This was not a new feeling for the Genasi. He acknowledged that they were expertly drilled warriors and their duty to safe guard the temple was important, but he also felt that they were far from the real work of their gods. Temples needed protection, but it was out there in the dirt and grit of the road that Helm’s will was done.
Upon entry into the temple, the blonde paladin bows with fist over heart, rich purple cloak swishing from her shoulders.
The paladin watched him carefully all the while. He saw in her eyes immediately that she was not comfortable in his presence. It was the same look he received from many humans, as if they were weighing in their minds if he was a monster or not. He suspected Arkaine had it even worse.
Did this affect the move here?" he asks, moving a large plate gauntlet up to scratch at the long scar chipped away into his cheek, with a single mailed digit.

"You have not seen him since?"
He knew it was an unfair question, but he felt it had to be asked in order for him to determine whether she still had feelings for the traitor. What he saw in the offended look that flashed across her comely features was confirmation enough for now that she hated him as she should for his betrayal.
"I have not. Why would I?"
"I have a feeling you will." Ferragus states sourly, his gaze again moving around the Temple interior. "It is possible he may attempt to capture you again. You know him better than any other." He leans in closer, the shadows playing over his facial features, giving the genasi an almost menacing look to his determination. "I would know his strengths and weaknesses in combat. His favoured weapon, his sword technique, all of it."
Although he might of came off as sounding demanding, he did not mean it. But there was determination and a burning desire to see justice for the Order in the wake of Eliphas’s betrayal.
He recalled the moment Eliphas used her to shield himself from Arkaine’s maul. Anger threatened to rise up inside of him, but it was quickly quelled, not showing on his stony features. "Did you ever spar with Eliphas?
"We did, yes, though not at any great length. He mostly watched on and coached technique from the sidelines, pushing endurance and correct use of blade."
He considered asking if she had seen him in council with any questionable individuals, but quickly thought better of it. This was not an interrogation after all he told himself.
Eventually more words are ground from his mouth in a reluctant fashion. "I hope you do not hold my decision of choosing Arkaine over you personally."
It was difficult for him to say this, as he believed his decision was sound and Arkaine was still the right choice. There was a saying he had once heard from a man in Hill’s Edge, about those that wore their heart on their sleeve, or was it their emotions? He could not recall. But he saw that this saying very much applied to Cecilia. She was young and perhaps felt victimized, that her hard work had amounted to nothing.
He understood this feeling well from his own hardships. He wanted to tell her that when all was said and done, it was these very hardships that defined a Paladin and made them into what she or he was. There are those that stand fast in these trying times and emerge stronger and more worthy in the eyes of their gods for it, and there are always those that crumble and take the easy path, forsaking and leaving behind all they once swore to uphold because of vain thoughts of oneself. He wanted to tell her she was not alone, and that all righteous men and women encountered this at least once in their life. But it was not his place to tell her this, because ultimately all stood alone in such times.
Whether or not the peace offering had changed her mind about him or not, the hardy genasi would not give any further thought to it. He was a Paladin of Helm, and his duty always came first.
The paladin watched him carefully all the while. He saw in her eyes immediately that she was not comfortable in his presence. It was the same look he received from many humans, as if they were weighing in their minds if he was a monster or not. He suspected Arkaine had it even worse.
Did this affect the move here?" he asks, moving a large plate gauntlet up to scratch at the long scar chipped away into his cheek, with a single mailed digit.
"I have my reasons for the relocation, many. It was offered, and so I took it. You understand that among other things, I court the Dawnknight Eldarian, Commander of the Lathanderite Templars within these halls." her brows loft slightly, chin tilting upwards without shame.
Nodding slowly, the Genasi shifted bulk shifted.
He knew it was an unfair question, but he felt it had to be asked in order for him to determine whether she still had feelings for the traitor. What he saw in the offended look that flashed across her comely features was confirmation enough for now that she hated him as she should for his betrayal.
