Deacon's Fancy Shmancy

[talisen]

Talisen begins to search for Deacon, in search of potions and possibly wands.

[Caleb]

Bumpity-umpity! Deacon still offers scrolls, wands, potions and wards.

[Charraj]

Charraj sees one of the small posters and reads it.

"'Come and seek him out, if ye are a fellow hiker of fair intent,' eh? I guess this one has some scruples. Wonder where the Hells he is, though?"

Because his usual supplier has not been seen in months, Charraj resolves to seek out this Deacon fellow.

[Caleb]

As chance would have it, a small figure stands behind Charraj, trying to see what the tall fellow is looking at. The figure then speaks up: "Oh, is that one of Deacon's old posters? My, how the wheather has had its way with it. Look at the fine decorations! All but faded. And the ink, all runny and smudged."

The little fellow wobbles closer to the poster, which hangs ridiculously low on the lantern post. "Perhaps it should be replaced yes? Torn down and disposed of. Would make nice wrapping paper for one of Deacon's cheeses, though."

The small figure gives Charraj an inquisitive look

[Charraj]

Charraj blinks and looks down at the tiny dwarf. He squints.

That has to be a magical effect, he thinks to himself.

Out loud, he asks, "Ah, do you know this Deacon fellow? My usual crafter seems to have vanished while I was gone, so I was hoping to find another artisan. This Deacon mentions people 'of fair intent'; is he really that discerning when it comes to selling his goods? Or is that just for the sake of appearances?" He pauses for a second.

"Er, no offense intended, if he's a friend of yours. Honestly, maybe a month ago, it wouldn't have mattered to me how discerning Deacon is. But now I'd like to know who I'm doing business with, if that business involves magic."

[Caleb]

Deacon chuckles: "Know this Deacon fellow? Know him quite well, actually! Know him well enough to tell thee that Deacon is quite discerning, rest assured."

Deacon gives the man an appraising look - running his free hand through his beard while fumbling his walkingstick with the other - and inquires carefully: "What manner of magic beeswax art thou looking to do with Deacon? Thee didst mention thy usual crafter? Dost this mean thou art looking for wands and such?"

[Charraj]

"Oh. Well, I was looking for wands, yes. Specifically, a wand of Least Spell Mantle and a wand of Death Ward. They're not even for me, really. I just have a couple of friends who seem to insist on doing foolhardy and dangerous things on a daily basis. If they don't want the wands, then I don't mind holding onto them; it never hurts to have protection against spells that can instantly kill you."

Charraj leans closer. "I do have something else I would like to ask Deacon about in person, though. Kind of a project idea. Do you think you could arrange a meeting sometime?"

[Caleb]

"Surely Deacon can craft thee a wand of Least Spell Mantle. Perhaps even a wand of Death Ward. And if it is further beeswax thou dost seek, why not follow this Deacon to its nearest shelter, and tell him all about thy needs?"

Deacon winks, then wobbles toward a nearby tree, waiting for Charraj to follow him.

[Charraj]

Charraj blinks, then squints at the dwarf's back as he wobbles away.

The wizard mutters to himself. "Okay. So he refers to himself in the third person. That's okay. He's an eccentric artisan, it's probably fine. I can totally follow him to an unknown location."

Charraj pauses, then holds up a finger to Deacon and calls out, "One second!"

He takes out a sheet of parchment, scribbles on it, and then posts it above Deacon's flier. The parchment reads as follows:

If this remains posted for a long time, please come looking for me. I'm probably with this Deacon fellow, and I'm probably scared.
