Background: Imaskar was the first overpowering human empire, predating even Netheril. It was responsible for the creation of the oldest empires still in existence, the ancient empires of Mulhorand, Unther and Chessenta. They were the first astronomers and the first to give names to the planets. Their artificer-kings held tremendous power and respect, leading forays into other planes to bring back otherworldly slaves for use in building the cities of Imaskar.

The empire was destroyed in -2488 DR by a cataclysmic uprising among their Mulan and Untheric slaves assisted by the incarnate gods of the slaves themselves. By this time it is suggested that the slaves in Imaskar numbered in the tens of millions. The war that followed was brief but catastrophic, and the destructive battles between the Imaskari artificer-kings and the slave's vengeful gods destroyed most of the empire, whilst the freed slaves looted and burned the once proud cities. The event led to the creation of the Raurin Desert.

Everyone thought Imaskari to be long dead, but a group led by the wizard-lord Ilphemon actually survived the cataclysm by descending into the Underdark and creating a hidden city called Deep Imaskar. The city was constructed to be magically self-sufficient and was concealed by a great magical seal.

Anciano is one of the last remaining decedents of this once magnanimous empire. Born into the noble house of Manaalin one of the oldest of the former artificer-noble families, he was groomed from his birth in the way of ‘The Art’ and it’s secrets. A mortal progeny, Anciano has brought his line great prestige in his expeditious mastery of the arcane. He spent most of his years studying the ancient lore of his people prior to the decent, practicing his cantrips, and testing his metal against his elder masters who always tutored him. Forever working to perfect his skill in ‘The Art’ he had little time for fun or any sort of revelry. This has made Anciano a cold stoic individual with incredible intelligence, but little personality. An example of wizardly youth for the society of Deep Imaskari and it is for his exceptional abilities that he was chosen to adventurer beyond the barrier of his home.
The city discovered by Anciano and others of kindred, The City of Dark Weavings or Sshamath has become his new home. It is here in this underdark city-state ruled by a Conclave of Drow mages that he takes on his arduous tasks, as an ambassador of his people. Writing down the culture and nature of the various races he comes into contact with, like the drow, completing lore such as maps and survival information of the vast underdark tunnel system, searching old ruins and sites for arcane artifacts and ancient lore, and attempting to discover a safe route to the surface realm.

Goals: To discover as many arcane artifacts of note he possibly can, to explore the realms and learn new lore and meet new cultures, establish a presence for the Imaskari once again, and to become a true master of 'The Art".
