Seven Suns Trade Caravan Attacked!

Image
A caravan sponsored by the Seven Suns Trading Coster was attacked en route from Llorkh to Iriaebor. It is said that it was carrying several tons of iron and silver ore.

The front end of the train was attacked, and rumor holds it that goblins were responsible. Goblin chatter and tongue were heard, but several things are said to have been unusual about the hit. One man, a rather tall bow man, had his throat slashed with a knife. Goblins are not known for their height, but his half-burned body could suggest that he might have been stabbed in the leg first, and brought down for the kill.

Poison was also involved. Investigators think it may have been arsenic or cyanide, which had been introduced into the caravan's water supply.

All told, in the chaos of the raid, one guard died of wounds, three people died of poisoning, one old carter disappeared with a silver cart, and several horses were slain. Another cart that disappeared was later found several miles off-camp (cargo intact). A third was set on fire.

"It was chaos," said a wizard who was on scene. "I was sure I got one of the little skulks with my fireball, but I passed out from the poison before I saw what happened. I was basically the hero of the hour, though. Without my magic and my fire, they might have pressed the attack."

Yet, the attack was not pressed. By all accounts there were also no goblin bodies discovered on daybreak.

"If it was about money, they would have attacked the lead wagon," a Seven Suns representative said with a confused frown. "We had thousands and thousands of gold coins in there, as well as most of our important documents and contracts. I don't know why anyone would attack us for a bunch of rocks and leave all the gold behind. I think they must have been scared off before they could get whatever they were after."

Another theory being spun around Soubar is that it might have been an elaborate assassination job.

It's one of those stories that will likely fade quickly, once it's been talked out though. "That's what they get for skimping on mercenaries and hiring adventurers to play at being caravan guards," is the general, snarky sentiment of the day. But the Seven Suns are annoyed by the damage to their reputation and their bottom line. Even if they did not take a total loss.

An odd floatation of mushrooms has been sighted moving down the Coast. A number of prominent mages and herbalists have ventured out to collect samples of the strange fungi, which are said to be taking root in a number of sea caves and other damp areas along the Coast, from Roaringshore to Amn.

Common folk speak of a guard being dishonorably discharged from the Friendly Arms Inn due to corruption. His mates appear to be wary, save for one who has been enjoying much wine of the expensive kind, declaring his promotion quite proudly.

A grand fire blazed just outside of the old "abandoned" chapel north of Beregost. What remains now is a severely scorched patch of earth, and in the centre the earth molten from the heat and subsequently cooled down to form porous, brittle rock formations.

A large thunderstorm storm may have been sighted over The Lion's Way east of Candlekeep. Additionally, some may have heard of or seen a large fight around a portal amongst powerful magical and melee adversaries that ended in many dead or injured and one man fleeing the scene.

The shrine of Mielikki north of Beregost appear to have received some acidic burns. Someone must have defiled it. The burns are superficial, however, and can be cleaned away without much noticable damage to the shrine.

A while later, the shrine has been cleaned. It would be hard to tell it was damaged unless one knew its details extremely well.

Rumours speak of flaming shadows having spread throughout the Woods of Sharp Teeth. The source seems to have been a fire just north of Gullykin, across the river. The flaming shadows were defeated and the fire extinguished, leaving a severely burned patch of earth.

Rumors abound that Erlkazar Thornwood and his team of treasure seekers have returned to the Friendly Arm Inn. Where have they been and what have they been doing remains a mystery. However, Erlkazar seems to be in good spirits and boasts of being one step closer to claiming the Everwatching Eye...

The followers of Chauntea up and down the Sword Coast all share the same dream/vision, and rumors spead.

In the vision, there is a shrine of Chauntea, broken destroyed, with smaller makeshift shrines around it. The land in the vision is barren, diseased. An image of Chauntea can faintly be seen standing beside the shrine, as it slowly starts to fade into nothing. Another blurred figure still stands beside Chauntea as the Goddess reaches out to the obscure figure.

Then the vision cuts to a scene of a Festival where there are many wind instruments being played as those in attendance dance in the air, as the wind whips them about....feathers flying all around....

When the festival ends, the image of Chauntea vanishes from next to the Shrines, the blurred figure also vanishes, and the shrines to Chauntea all crumble away to nothing.

The dream/vision ends and all awaken suddenly with a feeling of impending loss.

Irsa, the village of Lord Danos, ex-advenruter, which he rebuilt from the ruins of those who came before him, was recently hit by an attack from multiple fronts.

The survivors of the carnage found a "Z" carved into a nearby wall, with many bhaalist cultists laying dead on the ground.

Furthermore, the engagement ring guaranteed to make lord Danos a noble in stature has been stolen.

Those who attended him last were a blue tiefling said to claim the identity of a well known harper in the area, one serving Lathander, and a scarred bardess claiming to be Darkhold's former sorceress, now a defector. However, claims are made that the identities were simply a ruse.

One thing remains for sure... Lord Danos lost his chance to become a noble by losing the engagement ring and his village, now covered in blood and fire, unprotected by ancient laws.

The old druidic ritual place just north off of the Lion's Way has been scorched badly. The earth in one of the stone circles has molten and recooled to form porous, brittle rock.

A large white dragon caused terror in the towns of Nashkel and Beregost as well as around the Friendly Arm Inn. Rumours say a druid had shifted to the shape of a dragon, but smashed into the ground by the larger true dragon. Afterwards the great dragon had swooped down to eat one of the Silver Rose guards.[/color]

The shrine of Silvanus south of the Wyrm's Crossing has crumbled to ashes. A large patch of ground next to it has been scorched black, the center molten and formed lava rock formations.
