How far will gods go to get followers?

IIRC in canon, people in the Forgotten Realms say a quick prayer to various gods throughout the day. Of course, people also have a "primary" god that they worship, too.

For example: let's say Sally Treasure Hunter followed God A, and later decides to begin worshipping God B.

Would God A be wont to seek retribution for their lost follower?
-vengeance against Sally Treasure Hunter, the mortal that no longer worships them?
-vengeance against God B?

It depends on where you are in the time-line. After the Time of Troubles gods had to rely mich more heavily on their followers for their own powers than they did before the TOT.

With respect to seeking retribution for lost followers if would depend on a) the god, and b) the position or relative influence of the follower. A LG god of love might not seek much retribution, where as a CE god of deciet and murder might - depending on the follower. Followers asking for boons that are granted would be looked upon by most of the pantheon as poor believers if they were then to abandon the god, and yet there is the whole concept of redemption and the possibility of the follower coming back to be considered. Gods generally do not fight each other over casual worshippers in general - there are no atheists on the battlefield so it is said, but calling out to Tempus is as likely to fall on deaf ears as it is to find his divine aid, or divine retribution as a casual follower/believer.
