Marroar Hedger "I see dead people."

Unread post by Bubbajoe »

First Name: Marroar
Last Name: Hedger

Appearance: Normally he wears a Gisha mask with black lips and a black hood, bracers, and a leather vest over robes. When 'disguised' he simply wears a nondescript shirt and pants. His nose is crooked and the careful observer may notice a large quantity of small scars all over his visible skin, particularly his scalp.
Race: Strongheart Halfling
Age: 26
Height 3'2"
Weight: 36lb
Eyes: White
Hair: bald
Facial Hair Style: none

Personality Profile:
Marroar comes across as unhinged most of the time. He tends to be fascinated with death, even snickering to himself when he kills things/people, and talks about collecting parts of people that anger him. He also tends to spout 'meaningless drivel' seemingly without end, leading to those around them tending to ignore what he says.

Marroar is not nearly as insane as he seems. For those that have the intuition or intellect and who spend the time, his words show a vastly unorthodox method of viewing the world, and much of what he says is simply metaphor. He has also never been observed collecting any part of another sentient creature.

Marroar is manipulative. His insanity is partially a facade, intended to disturb (which he enjoys) and deceive. To Marroar, everyone is a potential enemy, and an enemy that thinks he knows the halfling but knows nothing is an enemy that can't hurt him.

General Health: Physically, as well as can be expected for one his age
Deity: Talona (pays little more than lip service)
Initial Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Profession: Mystic
Base Class & Proposed Development: Spirit Shaman, dipping into Blackguard
Habits/Hobbies: Snickers profusely. Collects various items out of curiosity, although he tends to dispose of them soon after. Plays seer for amusement at times, demanding payment one time, and doing it for free the next. Also tends to play pranks, even trying to pass off poisons as healing potions to his allies.
Languages: Common, Halfling, Animal, Goblin
Weapon of Choice: In the past he has favored handaxes, although he's recently gained a quality dagger he will use once capable.

Background:
Born to a gardener from Luiren, Marroar was a normal halfling child with all signs showing that he'd take up his father's occupation once he was old enough. This all changed when he was twelve, there was a fire in the home and his older brother Falras rushed him out of the building. When they were separated by falling flaming debris, Marroar was forced to watch Falras burn to the sound of their parents' screams. Marroar was taken to live with his aunt and uncle, but the experience severely twisted his mind.

As the years went on Marroar became convinced that his aunt and uncle had lit the fire out of jealousy. What is more, ever since the event his dreams became haunted by a masked figure and the shrouded figures of his parents, his waking hours he constantly thought he saw his brother walking nearby, but when he chased after he always disappeared. All these things compounded to twist his mind further, until one day when he was nearly a man he took the hatchet to his sleeping aunt and uncle and he ran for his life out of the town.

As Marroar wandered he increasingly pursued his brother's image, until one day he caught him. Falras told him that he'd keep taking care of him, and when Marroar asked him why he wasn't dead he simply told him "I am.". The influence of his brother's ghost attuned Marroar to the spirit world and by the time he reached age 26 and the city of Baldur's Gate, he was able to draw power from the spirit world.
Goals: Mar himself simply wants to survive, although he also seeks the identity of the masked figure (whose appearance he emulates) who haunts his nightmares.
For my part, I'd like to have some redemption occur for Marroar, which would require the healing of his mind to a degree, although if such a drastic change of alignment were to occur it would be an extremely long process.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: he emulates the masked figure's appearance because she is his greatest fear.
Fire is his second greatest fear, and though he will shrink from it, he also sees its power because of his fear.
Every spirit shaman has a spirit guide, and Mar's is his brother.
I used to create flaming edgelords. Hopefully my characters have some depth now.
