Hey all,
Camouflage says it lasts 1 minute/level, but mass camouflage says 1 hour/level. However, in practice that is not the case. Are there any other spells that durations listed in the description are not accurate? In most cases bonuses to stealth are only beneficial with long durations.
Thanks!

Re: Ranger camouflage and mass camouflage spells
its wrong, they are both the same duration... guess it was never updated
i think mass is suppose to be 1 hr, however its also not suppose to affect the caster either, so its not a bad trade off for being party friendly
and camo is plenty good as min/lvl (better of course if you extend)
the main problem might be tho where you are when you are using it and your stealth scores, either way camo, cats and greater heroism are all min/lvl and all good for boosting stealth, and pass without a trace im sure is min/lvl

I think they are both supposed to be 10 min per level spells as per pnp.

Re: Ranger camouflage and mass camouflage spells
Whatever their duration is supposed to be, Mass Camouflage is bugged. Its duration is neither 1min/lvl nor 10min/lvl. I asked for this to be fixed before, i got told it is hardcoded and cannot be touched. Maybe a new spell with the correct duration should be made

Re: Ranger camouflage and mass camouflage spells
Under the current system, I think it is hardcoded. It may be possible to remake the spells to be used under a different system to work as intended or at least with less confusion. But. Do we want to bother trying?
I am for fixing the bug in mass camo to work as PnP though. Change the order of the words and make a new spell to replace the old one.

Re: Ranger camouflage and mass camouflage spells
We should not lose sight of the fact that spell times are all SNAFU'd by the time differential between minutes and hours. That is to say that all spells in seconds and minutes last that in real time, but those in hours last in game time, and therefore are all short-changed. Those lasting minutes per level are already getting a major boost in comparison.

Re: Ranger camouflage and mass camouflage spells
Thanks for the replies in any case. Extended camouflage is plenty long, was more just confusion on my part. That said when in a party mass camouflage would be nice, but it really seems to have a 6 second/level duration...

Re: Ranger camouflage and mass camouflage spells
wut? that would definitely be wrong then
mass camo is hardcoded yes but camo and mass camo use the same spell call, which is why they are both the same duration, or suppose to be
and spell durations with min/lvl are real time, 6 sec/lvl is combat rounds, hours is something weird, its long but not that long in real time - 10 min/lvl is actually longer than hr/lvl in real time

Re: Ranger camouflage and mass camouflage spells
6 sec/lvl is combat rounds, which is real time. Hours are 2 minutes real time. 24 hour spells last 48 minutes real time. The 1 minute, and especially 10 minute, per level spells really last way too long in game time. Part of the problem is the large differential between game and real time.Blackman D wrote:and spell durations with min/lvl are real time, 6 sec/lvl is combat rounds, hours is something weird, its long but not that long in real time - 10 min/lvl is actually longer than hr/lvl in real time
