Rumors & Events of Baldur's Gate

As dawn rises, Telia joins Ameris in his morning prayer. She is silent, just kneeling beside him and with her eyes closed. When it the prayer is done, they walk to Lucky Aello's and Telia picks a few dolls for any girls they may see on the streets. She does not spare expense, and the couple share the cost. Telia asks Aello for some tags and then writes a name on each one. Then the nametags are hung around the dolls' necks.

They go to a carpenter next, buying toy ships and animals. The pair share the cost again, although apparently by this point Ameris' coin pouch is rather light. Telia carefully paints a name on each of the toys.

Finally they visit the a confectioner and purchase some candies and honey treats, Telia digging deeply into her purse. Once they have ten toys all with names on them and several bags of sweets, they make their way to the docks. Telia with her arms full of the dolls, Ameris carrying the wooden toys.

The sorceress glances at the priest and she would smile before she slinks down one of the alleys. It is not long before they find the poor kids of the city. The children are approached carefully, with soft words and smiles.

"I have a friend here for you, will you look after it...? Her hair looks just looks yours!" A toy is extended and carefully accepted.

"The Crying God watches over you." The phrase is said in almost a whisper, as sweets are handed over.

The sorceress and the priest move on.

"We found this boat, looks like one on the seas does it not...? Do you ever wonder what it is like to be sailing on it...?" She speaks gently to a young boy and gestures for Ameris to give over a toy boat and some sugared almonds.

And so the couple proceed onwards, distributing toys and sweets as they go.

*Those entering the Shelf of Many Books in Baldur's Gate over the past few days speak of a strange bearded man with an ugly scar on his left cheek in the shape of a triangle, smelling of pine and pipe smoke has been fervently copying a passage from an old looking tome with a cracked leather cover into several fresh books. Anyone who got to close mentions his cold stare until they move along to a different area of the building. If questioned the proprietor would only say that he paid for several blank books and came back for a few days copying something or other. She would also complain that she had to threaten to throw him out at one time when he almost lit his pipe write there at the table, with all those flammable books nearby!*

A woman with short black hair can be find at a table in the Shelf of Many Books. She seems hard at work, with a few books around her but more noticeably several piles of papers. Some have been folded and sealed, clearly intended letters. If anyone walks close enough to the table, they may see some paints and paintings waiting to dry.

Green eyes lift from the papers in front of her every now and then and eye the bearded man with the scar. She does not move away though. Her duty lies before her. If the man would notice her and attempt to stare her down, she would return the favour but make no attempts at conversation herself. Later, she does ask the librarian about the man but without any real interest.

*Not having met the green eyed woman the man would eventually give over, but hunch over his work and look up occasionally to ensure she was not overly focused on his writings. Were she to be overly curious he would either move further away or leave and return later to finish his writings. Assuming she remained aloof as to what he was doing he would continue at his work, paying little further mind to her.*

The woman appears to be far more focused on her own work than that of the bearded man's. If anything, she would seem a bit hurried. She reaches for one of the paintings, dabs some more paint on it and then grabs another and does the same. While these dry and wait for another layer of paint, she writes in some papers and only occasionally consults one of the books near her.

Amidst the writers, a diminutive young woman would be seen nervously slipping around the library, footsteps barely audible. Every now and then, she would be seen slinking by with a book of one kind or another clutched to her chest, or heard in the act of skimming pages in some secluded area.

The times someone bothers to look, they may notice that all the books appear to be dissertations, discussions, and other such dry topics regarding deities, or their dogmas.

A smiling face under a wide brimmed hat, not been seen for several years has been spotted around the Gate recently by those who would recognize him. He is greyer, more heavily lined and scarred and his expression less welcoming than it was in years gone by. He can be seen speaking with adventuring types and mercenaries and making inquiries about work from time to time. Often in the company of a particularly stout and armored dwarf.

Halbazzar Drin seems to be in better spirits today as a elven priestess hands him some gold bags that will pay for the repairs his laboratory incurred over a tenday ago. He regards the elf as "True to her word".

The blue-garbed priestess leaves Sorcerous Sundries sometime later with a handful of blank scrolls and makes her way to her temple with a contented look on her face.

A group assembles at the arena in the Northern Farmlands, including the Grandmaster of the Radiant Heart, the Head Watchknight of the Everwatch Knights, clergy of Ilmater and Hoar, and oddly enough a pair of Herald journalists. Apparently some gentle sparring had been the order of the day, but a heated argument broke out over a past conflict.

In the end an agreement was reached, and the majority of the group headed to the Temple of Helm in Baldur's Gate. Some time later, the group is seen leaving the temple one by one. Some seem fatigued, some seem relieved. From the expression of a priest of Ilmater, at least, it could be said that some measure of justice had been done this day.

There seem to have been some uncertainties with the Herald publishing this month. Nearly a tenday later though, issue five is being distributed in Baldur's Gate and sent further across the Heartlands with merchants and messengers.

*Eleanor enters the Temple of Helm in the early morning, she stands in front of Watcher's statue and places a small candle and an offering in a form of few coins before kneeling. As soon as the candle is lighted she starts her quiet and short prayer, leaving the temple shorty afterwards.*

• Lord Helm, I stand before you, humble and honest servant of Triad.
  I pray for you to see one of your honorable followers, Grandmaster Arkaine, struggling with his duties due to his soul's torment.
  Protect him, as his is your own, protect his shattering hear and soul so he may serve you to the best of his abilities.

A wealthy merchant from Calimshan, Haseid Jassan, has once again visited the city of Baldur's Gate now that the plague has subsided. Rumor has it he wants to begin operations set in motion before the illness plagued the city.
