The Minotaur Maze Illusionist

Unread post by Katteratter »

After the previous day spent fishing with a group of people, old friends, new friends, and her brother, I showed up on the outside of FAI with my previous days catch and walked along the path blinking in surprise as Terri suddenly appeared in front of me saying hello, I instantly smiled seeing Terri Lalani my little sister (Not by blood mind you). I walked up to her with a grin and told her about how I went fishing, Terri stating she hoped I enjoyed my day off, fishing felt more like work than anything, (in my mind it was not a day off in the slightest!) And I stated so! I left and sold my fish to the local merchant of FAI, Trilduin and headed back to Terri, where I was surprised to meet both Terri and Nova, I walked to Nova and we greeted each other with a kiss on the cheek and he brushed his nose against mine gaining a remark from Terri, calling us "So cute!".

As we talked a decision was made to go to the Minotaur Ruins for treasure hunting and I to gain some training! As Terri warded me, a man asked where we were headed and we told him of our destination, his reply amusing as he stated with confidence "Oh. It is as if the gods fated us to meet then! I seek the very same place" I welcomed him to come and he replied with "Very good. I am Rurik of Ruathym, warrior of Tempus." Terri and I introduced ourselves, and I introduced Nova for him.

We started on our way to the Minotaur Ruins, arriving there we had small chit chat as we began through the maze, barely any Minotaur were to be found at the beginning of the maze, but as we went through a doorway we were surrounded by seven or so Minotaur at once an abnormally large patrol of them, but Terri and Nova let me and Rurik beat them all and we laughed together wishing there were actually more! As we calmly stated so, our wish was granted as another large patrol of Minotaur came running at us Rurik stood in front slashing through everything coming near us and the Minotaur seemed to focus on me as I started taking most of the their brute force getting damaged heavily. After they were defeated Nova healed me and patted me on the back as I wiped away some blood and I thanked him. Not getting much time to relax as we were bombarded by yet another wave of Minotaur, both myself and Rurik taking damage by the third wave of them!

It was then a decision was made for Terri to begin scouting ahead checking to see how safe each new room would be, as she walked through the next door, she came back and to our surprise told us there was a wall of flame! We followed her through the door and saw for ourselves from the left wall to the right, a wall of flames was blocking the path for us to
continue. Terri decided to try and jump it, safely making it to the other side and told us to jump and said hurry as a large group of Minotaur appeared by Terri and began to attack her as she was alone, I quickly tumbled through the fire, fumbling back as I landed causing the fire to burn me and as quickly as I could ran to Terri for her aid and attacked the Minotaur, Nova from the other side of the fire wall shot magic at the Minotaur causing them considerable damage, Terri and I finishing them off, the wall of flame disappearing as the last one was defeated.

As we looked at each other Nova walked to me as I coughed up a bit of blood, using the last of his healing magic to help me, I smiled and thanked him again. At that point I realized I would have been long dead without Nova's healing! We were a bit shocked as we realized Rurik had disappeared, where he had gone we were unsure, we waited where the fire wall had been for a few minute to see if he would return, to our surprise he never came back and we hoped we would manage to find him elsewhere in the maze, I held Nova's sleeve as we waited while Terri scouted ahead, the first door leading to a dead end and she lead us through another door.

We walked through the door and to our surprise at the end of the hallway was piles of gold spread everywhere! We stared at the gold in awe before examining more closely, right before our eyes all of the gold disappeared (To our disappointment, it did not disappear into our pockets.) We had been tricked by an illusion! Sadly we continued on, spotting chests in a room along the way, we were ambushed from the door by hoards of Minotaur before we could get the chests, all three of us fighting to the best of our abilities to defeat them all! The last one attempted to flee, I chased after it knocking it to the ground and vanquished it quickly, and we went back for the chest hastily grabbing it loot.

Just then Skeletons appeared two of them surrounding Nova, just as quickly as they appeared they disappeared, Nova's fist going through it as it was gone in a flash. We reached a row of doors knowing at the end was our destination where we believed the one causing these illusions would be, we went through one door, the door to the next small room straight ahead was already opened, as we took a step forward, a vortex showed up roaring in blue fury stopping us dead in our tracks, Terri made an assured decision that it was not real, and stepped into it and we followed, the vortex being an illusion as we all stepped through it, it disappeared.

We went throough the last door prepared to fight whatever it was, to our astonishment.. The large room was empty except for the usual two chest that sat at the front. We looked around in stupefaction and as I eyed the room my eyebrows raised as I saw two more chests towards the back of the room, chests none of us recalled ever being there before in our times of being through this Minotaur maze. As Terri walked to the one on the left, Nova and I walked to the one on the right, I leaned over and looked at the chest yelling out "Oh my gosh!" As the chests came to life, its lid parting to reveal a large tongue and sharp teeth and it began to attack us, Terri yelling from the other side of the room "It's a mimic!". Nova and I brought one of the chest down to its last bits as Terri yelled for help and I ran to her helping in wrecking the other chest as Nova destroyed the one we had been fighting, Terri and I finishing the other almost immediately afterwards.

We all took a sigh of relief and as we looked at the Mimics we had dealt with, we saw three items, one mimic held within it an amulet of the mimic, the other holding gloves and a belt of the mimic. Each seeming perfect for one of us. Terri took the Amulet, Nova took the belt, and I took the gloves. Our odd event of going through the Minotaur Maze giving us a reward we would never forget. As for the Illusionist we never found him or her, and we took our leave of the maze as our wards began to wear off, swiftly making our way out of the maze with a sense of accomplishment and a new story to add to our lives, forever questioning where the illusionist had gone.
