Noob Help 2.0

Unread post by ChrisB »

I decided to make one thread as I feel it is less rude than making multiple for this:

I am looking for these things:
An exact premade Wizard build with Maximum DC/CL
An Exact Premade Cleric Build
An Exact premade Ranger build

SOLO play is in mind.

Secondly, I have a level 2 wizard. I'm struggling to both navigate and survive. I attempted to find the bandits, and couldn't. I encountered wolves and snakes, who subsequently murdered me. I was thankful to find out I won't lose levels if I resurrect.

Wizards have to struggle, as they shine later on - try a fighter or something more robust for your first steps.
Just looks a bit further on that map for the bandits - exploring the world is part of the fun.

I think it's not the build that is the problem but the way you play your wizard, if you can't survive bandits.

I'd suggest you either play a fighter type build before trying the wizard, or try to change the way you play wizards or the spell you chose. As a low level wizard, you should always walk around with buffs. I believe you start with 1000 gold with a new character, I suggest you go buy some low level scrolls at the sorcerous sundry (if it still exists). It should help you pass the first 2-3 levels.

You should also go to the graveyard for the first 6-7K xp you'll gain. You'll often find other people there, even if you want to play 'solo' (which is a pretty strange idea to start with on a multiplayer game as there's mods for those who wants to play solo). Just team up an hour with a few people there and those first levels will come. Once you get IMA and some other defence spells up it should be easier.

Do your build search here.

Buy yourself a crossbow and a shytload of healing kits; your offensive spells aren't all that great at lower levels, so pick defensive until later levels.

Do the fed-ex quests, trying to stay out of combat as best as you can, until you get a few levels.

Don't go rushing into hopeless battles, treat your character as though he'll be permadeath if you die (not saying you need to do that, but the mindset will help him survive). Take your time. This is not a fast leveling world.

Also, RP will get exp (not sure how much).

Guys, it's been a while I havn't logged in, but I do remember when I last played a wizard, there was... scorching ray scrolls, lvl 1, which dealt a lot of damage for the little sum of 14 gold a piece. Do they still exist?

This would be an idea for you.

Are there server regulations of NN and ASC?

My advice? Utilise your rest more! You can rest once every 45 seconds x character level. Load up on sleep spells, cast immunity to your own alignment (if you're not an elf, and hopefully not neutral!) and just go on a sleep spam fest, resting whenever you run out of spells. Use a summon creature as well if you have to, useful cannon fodder between rests.

Also, buy Refreshing Water from farmer Thom in the eastern farmlands. 15gp-20gp ea and heals 13 hp over 13 rounds. They are lifesavers!

No, Neverwinter Nine class was renamed in "Bodyguard" class, arcane scholar of Candlekeep's name remained unchanged but RP wise the knowledge is considered to have spread and is not limited to Candlekeep anymore.

The server regulated classes are the following :

Red Wizard of Thay
Thayan Knight
Shadow Adept

These are in Candlekeep.

As a low level wizard, you need to play a bit smart. Really utilize the consumables. Mage Armor scrolls are pretty cheap and last 5 mins, get those. There are shield potions as well, if your AC is not enough.

When you have more gold, you can look into Spiderskin scrolls or Barkskin potions for natural AC. Focus on the cheap ones first though.

Sleep is great at low levels, there is even a wand with 50 charges.

Crossbow and/or just buffing yourself up to whack mobs works too. You are not going to have enough spells in your spellbooks to kill things only by that. Have to rely on scrolls.

Alternatively, buff with all the defensive spells you can, take a club and charge (use the charge feat !) the skeletons in the graveyard, it works wonder and is hilarious though not correct RP wise for all PCs of course :D
