Ghrimold

Unread post by Steamer567 »

First Name: Ghrimold
Last Name: Bakerton
Race: Half-Orc

Age: 25
Height: 6'9"
Weight:235lbs
Eyes: Blue
Hair: A dark colored mowhawk

Personality Profile: Friendly, with a largely non-nonchalant disposition. Largely protective of those he deems as friends.
General Health: very good
Deity: Helm
Initial Alignment: Lawful Good
Profession: Soldier
Base Class & Proposed Development: 30 Man-at-arms
Habits/Hobbies: Likes eating roasted lizard. He also likes making little figures out of scrap metal, but he's not very good at it. He just likes to do it.
Languages: Common, Orc, Jotan
Weapon of Choice: Tower Shield. He uses a large hammer in the other hand because he felt he needed something there.

Background: As he was too young at the time to remember being born Ghrimold is unaware of who his biological parents are. Though he is of obvious mixed parentage he is quite sure one of his parents is, or at least was, an orc. To be fair, he really has not felt any motivation to find out, so he let that mystery fall, though he is slightly curious as to his biological are it is definitely not enough to make him seek them out.

The truth is, that he was born to an orc under priestess, and on his first birthday that particular war band was found and routed by a particularly efficient militia group. Ghrimold was asleep at the time covered up in some skins. When he awoke he was discovered by one of the militia men and with some pity he took the kid home to raise him.

The militia man was, by profession, a baker and his wife cleaned the Helm temple in Phlan. As a child he was treated about as well as any half-orc is treated and spend much of his youth in constant conflict with his peers. In an attempt to focus his aggression into something constructive his mother took him to the Helmite soldiers for some martial training hoping that his aggressive nature coupled with the religious instruction would help focus him.

As he came of age he joined the regular military and spent five years as a soldier off and on fighting the Zhentarim. He rose to the rank of Sergent and led a small team as security for the general. After his five year enlistment he left the military and decided to move on to see more of the world. He decided that he would fist visit all of the large city states, but not realizing how much that would really cost he found himself broke and out of work standing in front of Baulders Gate.

Goals: Wants to see the world, wants to smash the faces of the Bloody Hand orcs.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Since he is of orcish decent he knows that there is some orc and human somewhere that are his biological parents, but has made no effort to find out who they are.

*letter sent home*

Dear Mom and Dad,

Things are well with me and as promised I'm writing to you though it is perhaps later then you expected.

I 'd like to say fate left me here but really Baulder's Gate was were my money ran out. For some reason caravans won't take payment in cupcakes, so this is where I got off.

People here aren't really any different then anywhere else. Some are nice and some aren't. Often I get the usual stares, some elves decide that they should cut my eyes out and it turns out the local orc clan gets offended when some one of Orcish decent pays fidelity to Helm. Never would have seen that coming right?

So Mom, you'll be proud of me I settled down and got a job. Turns out they have an order of the Everwatch in Baulder's gate and across the boarder in a little place called Nashkel. Being in need of money I decided to sign up. My boss, the Head Watchknight is nice, pretty good swords uh...woman, but also a bit aloof. But I got my final induction type ceremony in a week or so from now. When you receive this letter it'll probably be done, and I'll have to write you again to tell you how it went. Now all I need is some other half-orc beauty to settle down with and then you can get those grandkids you always wanted. Because that's ever going to happen...

Well I seem to be out of paper so I hope this letter finds you well.

Dear Mom and Dad,

I have discovered that roads get longer when you are on your own horse instead of letting someone else drive the caravan. This travel back and forth between Phlan and Baulders's Gate leaves me too much time to think, and really hungry. Travel food gets more bland the more you eat it. I have to figure out a portable oven one of these days. Seriously dried meat gets so old so fast.

The horse the Hellriders lent me...and never asked for back...has proven quite sturdy. I've finally decided to name him Bob. I'm not sure if he likes the name, but he hasn't told me otherwise. Maybe I should get a Druid to ask him for me, but that would take the fun out of it.

Roumors spread about the Undead on the Sword Coast not sure which of them to believe, but I'm sure my boss will be able to fill me in. I felt bad leaving them alone. Everyone seems so conflicted sometimes, but hopefully I can help. If nothing else it will be an entertaining drama.

A few more days and I'll be back at the Gate. It'll be good to see everyone. I'm told there are some new ever watch members. Hopefully I can meet them soon.

Hope Dads feeling better.

Love Grim
