Appearance: A lithe, yet reasonably strong young woman, Lyra's inquisitive eyes take in everything around her. Her long auburn hair is often an afterthought, tucked away in a slap-dash braid beneath her hat, as are her slightly pointed ears. She wears soft supple leathers and a cloak, obviously at home more in the woods than the city. She is rarely without her bow in hand, and often a wolf at her side.

Habits/Hobbies: Lyra enjoys spending time in the woods, people watching, scouting, and playing her lute, drum, or flute. She prefers to be on the move, rarely staying in one place for more than three days without at least an excursion elsewhere.

Background: Lyra originally grew up with a small community of elves who passed through the woods closer to Neverwinter. Her parents had been adventurers; her father did not live to see her 2nd birthday. She learned how to appreciate the woods and the land, and to speak with the creatures within the forest. As she grew older however, she stuck out more amongst the elves, and after a few more years, she was dropped off at her aunt Sarah's human home when her mother took up adventuring once more. Her younger cousins (children being what they are) would tease her, thus Lyra quickly adopted the habit of always wearing a hat to cover her ears in the town. When training as a scout as a teen she worked with both humans, elves, and half-elves, but never quite outgrew the habit.
She made her way to Baldur's Gate to seek out new opportunities, and found them, rising through the ranks of the Weave Master scouts to become Overwatch.
However a few months later she volunteered for a risky assignment in the mountains and was not seen since, until now, 6 years later - only to find that there is no longer anyone to report back to.

Goals:
*To find the right guild to aid with her skills
*Protect the forest, and the creatures and people within it
*Aid in protection of the city and surrounding areas if/as needed

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
*Was once Overwatch of the scout branch of the weave masters.
*Lyra has not seen her mother since she was a teen.
*Once had Red the deer following her everywhere who would speak in common but only to her. People began to think she was crazy until Red insulted a dwarf who wanted to eat him.
*Sings and plays for the woods more than for people.
*Once lost her voice due to magic from a Nisharuu that attacked the best skills of the weave masters, and had to speak in gestures and written word for at least a month.
*Helped stopped many threats to the city or area, but it was many years ago, and she was not the leaders of the group(s). Including a dracolich ridden by a red wizard.
*Met Elminster once.
*Has seen dopplegangers, vampires, drow, githyanki, umberhulks, assassins, space golems, exploding balors, and more, before.

Lyra sank exhausted into the chair at the inn. It had been a long journey to return to Baldur's Gate, by anyone's standards.

But even so, she was not prepared for the changes that awaited her.

Arriving earlier today to report on her long absence and her last mission that became such an extended foray, she learned with dismay that there was no one at all to report to.

Elias, William, Nahum, Lilly, Clay, Chloe, Waylan... and more so, the entire guild of Weave Masters... gone. Her network of contacts was expected to be 'cold', but this? Niaduinen, Sheritomo, so many others not to be found either.

As the masked girl, Chloe said whom she met in the marketplace, she was now a stranger in her own city.

But now what to do? She had no job, no role to return to. If what was said was true, that someone else had taken the place of Nahum and Elias and then got himself exiled from the city...

What had become of those companions she worked with, laughed with, shared with? Friends that had brought chalk tablets, and deciphered arm movements when a curse had stolen her voice completely for many weeks. Those who had fought side-by-side with her and driven away threats to the city and surrounding lands... What had become of Red, that annoying, curious, amazing, common-speaking deer that tried to start a fights with a dwarf, and refused otherwise to let anyone but her hear him? It was too much to think that she would find any of them, after so long an absence. Although, she wasn't quite sure if she wanted to know how Red had gotten on - he was likely someone's dinner by now if he hadn't been killed out of annoyance.

She felt old, for once. The mission, and journey afterwards, had not been kind. It would take months to rebuild her contacts and choose where to best apply her skills. But she did have the choice. Stay, and work for all that she had once earned, perhaps in a new line of work, or let it all go and keep moving to somewhere else. Somewhere small.

No, she did not come this far to give up quite so easily. It was time to return.
