Background & a recounting of the tale so far:

Flynn hails from a very small village a few days journey from Baldur's Gate. His parents are human millers in the village and were frightened when their son was born an Air Genasi. The village held council to consider how the child should be handled. It was decided that given his father's profession as a miller, the air-touched genasi would be seen as a blessing and omen of good fortune for the family and the village. Thus Flynn grew up welcomed by his community with open arms.

Flynn developed a keen mind that showed a great affinity for learning. Unfortunately, in such a small village his opportunities for education were quite limited. Still, Flynn spent most of his days sitting high on the scaffolding of the windmill reading every book in the village and waiting for the wind to die down, so that he could summon some more.

As he got older, he grew restless and desired the adventurer's life described in the stories he read. It took several years, but eventually his parents agreed to let him go and booked him passage on a wagon bound to Baldur's Gate with a few supplies and a rapier donated by the village. Flynn had never before left his village however, and quickly found he was well out of his element. His sheltered life had fostered an almost unprecedented level of naivety that led others to often perceive him as a simpleton or fool.

The tale so far... (So I had a bit of fun with this, but the basic plot is what has happened IG. I hope you enjoy!)

As Flynn got off the wagon he thought to himself, 'I don't even know which way's north vs. south!' Followed a road, to the city he head, instead found himself in a land of undead. Filled with sheer terror, he soon turned to flee, but remembered the hero in every story. "Even on my first day a great hero I'll make! One little skeleton, my life will not take!" He turned head away and clenched tight his eyes, he stuck out his sword and let out a cry!

...Nothing...

Flynn was so sure that his sword had struck true, but when stabbing at skeletons, the tip goes right through! He opened his eyes and turned only to see, the blunt side of a pickaxe, then skeleton feet. Thrown prone to the ground semi-conscious and bleeding, Flynn thought to himself, 'I hope dying's like sleeping.'

It was at this point when things looked so grim, that Flynn saw a bright light and a blast over him. The skeleton soon fell destroyed to the ground. With the last of his strength Flynn he looked all around. A young woman ran up and tended his wounds, Flynn meeting his end was no longer assumed. As Flynn slowly but surely returned to his feet, the face of a wizardess he turned to meet.

She greeted young Flynn with both smile and nod, He stood right before her with face rather odd. 'How did she do that?' he thought in his head, but quickly gave thanks for him not being dead. With a wave of her hands, magic spell did she utter, not even one single long word did she stutter. Curious Flynn looked about for the spell and quickly was wrapped in a magical shell. From wizardess mouth words continued to flow, both strength and endurance inside him would grow! "Look at me now! Even dragons should fear!" Him now gaining confidence, let out a cheer! "These undead yes, will fall quickly to thee, but should you see dragon, best turn tail and flee." With nary word more she was then off away, "Flynn, stay far from death." she did heartfully pray.

Now through the graveyard Flynn went on and wandered, the name of the wizardess soon did he ponder. He never again would the wizaradess see, but becoming just like her he now dreamed to be. Flynn followed the trade way for several more weeks, a wizarding master continued to seek. Looking at Flynn nearly all wizards laughed, all thinking the young blue genasi quite daft. "Simpleton!" "Fool" They continued to call, watching young Flynn and his confidence fall. "What to do now?" Flynn felt at a loss, till the path of a sorceress soon did he cross.

He walked through gates of the Friendly Arms Inn, when a young red haired woman took notice of him. Looking her over, Flynn gained just a peek of her bearing the symbol of Candlekeep. 'I know this symbol!' he thought to himself, 'a place full of books which all rest on a shelf. A reputation for magic and many a mage. I remember it clearly, wrote down on the page!' "Are you a great wizardess likened to she? Would you be so kind to teach magic to me?"

"No." She said, "a wizardess not. I was born with the magical gift that I got." Feeling defeated, and with teary eyes, Flynn flopped to the ground and he started to cry. Taken aback and filled full of surprise, she regained her composure and let out a sigh. "Isabella VIllame" she introduced in full form, "Captain protector of Candlekeep and Knight of Torm."

"Stop crying! Stand up! I must quickly discern, is there any capacity in you to learn?" She glared at him sternly inspiring fear, Flynn jumped to his feet and he wiped off his tears. "Of course I can learn! I am really smart!" responded him quickly with words full of heart. Raising an eyebrow, she seemed quite unsure, how much more of this Flynn she could stand to endure. But Flynn was persistent; continued to badger, and followed her round for most nearly an hour. "Enough is enough!" her face grew bright red, as red as the hair up on top of her head. "I relent! I will teach you!" Her face and eyes weary, "I cannot teach spells, but can magical theory. Be silent and hurry! Go sit by the fire. I promise you now I am far from a liar. I will come shortly. I need time to rest and think how I might help instruct you the best."

As several days passed, Flynn would always return and sit by the fire to listen and learn. Isabella of course was true to her word and spoke many things that to Flynn were unheard. Dragons, the weave, even lessons on genies, and none of the lessons were even done meanly. Then taking note of him wielding his sword, she offered a lesson to teach him much more. "Parry, thrust, lunge and repeat. Far quicker Flynn, you must be on your feet!" Both swordplay and spell his new master did know, Flynn gazed in wide wonder and dodged to and fro. 'How can I be more like master endowed?' Flynn thought, 'I know! I'll become an avowed!'

He quickly sent letter and then planned to meet, The Guide they call Teo at Candlekeep. Flynn told him quite bluntly desires to be, like their former Guard Captain, Miss Villame. The Guide thought him a fool and then told him to leave. With eyes full of tears, Flynn then jumped to his feet. He cried out to Teo, "Please don't make me go! This dream that I have, it is all that I know!" What happened next in the keep they say, The Guide Teo, his heart grew three sizes that day. "Stop crying, Flynn! You may stay in the keep, as long as you promise to no longer weep."

Several months passed and Flynn stood and endured, Teo's chastising and long list of chores. Study was easy; not nearly the quandary of doing most all of the acolytes' laundry. Socks were shrunk and robes were stained earning young Flynn a great deal of disdain. Many when chastened may stand statuesque; but our Flynn is found hiding right under a desk.

For the keep he faced trials, some great and some small, even armies of undead came right to the wall! He stood in defense at his new master's side, recalling the that very first day he near died. He quickly discovered resolve within grown, already considering Candlekeep home. He soon went to Teo and asked for the test, considering careful which answers the best. And so we have come with our hero till now, the day our young Flynn has become an avowed.

Goals: To become a "seeker-scholar-guard-wizard-adventurer." To protect Candlekeep. To be just like master! (Has hidden goals as well)

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: The death of Acolyte Lilianna at the hands of Uriel, changed Flynn in a profound way. He's lost much of the innocence and naivety that he viewed the world with before.

"Flynn was the smartest person in his whole village!"
