Nashkel Mine, the new Orogs......I don't know...
Hey, I wanted to get everyone's feelings on the new Orogs.
Personally, I liked the older models aesthetically. I don't have much a problem with them gameplay wise, other than the fact that the new Sorcerors are a bit overpowered.
So, I wanted to know what everyone else thoughts were?

Visually i think the current ones fit better. The Sorcerers are more challenging, that is true ( which makes sense since they are casters ) but lets be honest, the previous ones were very weak.Orogs are orcs who live and thrive in the Underdark. They look like normal mountain orcs but are slightly taller, with larger ears and huge pale eyes.

Berserks is still most dangerous there, and in combination with sorc's -10 ab bigby they are just awsome!
Though I miss crossbow shooters there, and warriors which appeared in their place are just meat pies.

Regarding appearance, there is also this taken from the same source, "Races of Faerun":mrm3ntalist wrote:Visually i think the current ones fit better. So, it would be nice if the Orogs at the mine would be outfitted with Heavier Armors, as the old models had been. TBH, I have to say that you get a bit of Orc fatigue when traveling this server. When you see some of the same models being shown in the Sharpteeth, Misty Forests and now the Nashkel Mines (not mentioning the new Orchome since that is a PC/NPC haven area.Over the centuries, orogs
have mastered the art of forg-
ing armor and weapons from
the strange ores found in the
Underdark. They favor half-
plate and full plate armor,
which are typically adorned
with armor spikes. Orog weap-
ons are festooned with a multi-
tude of hooks, spines, and redundant cutting edges. An orog
rarely goes anywhere without being fully armed and armored.
In short, variety is the spice of life and the more the models differ between the areas, the more it will feel like a new experience for players, like it should. Orogs are a different race, giving them different characteristics such as heavy armors and arms, aids in this immersion.
Regarding game play, I am currently playing my first non-powerbuilt, non hipser character in a long time and they are really struggling to put those Orogs down enough to warrant the XP/trouble. At level 22, they receive only 16 XP per kill when these creatures are far harder in groups than their Ogre counterparts which yield the same XP. My character is by no means weak either, it's just a pain to get dispelled, bigbied and spammed with spells while taking on a mob, especially when there is no Boss present

Edit: Like the fight

PS—I notice you didn't write "non-elf" along with your other "changes." Maybe that's your real problem?!?!

I am trying to voice legitimate concerns.

Any improvement to making any Area more challenging to those that are used to ease-of-grinding so they can reach an "appropriate" level for PvP and other "role-play" reasons, is a positive move, in my opinion.Maverick 40 wrote:Hey, I wanted to get everyone's feelings on the new Orogs.

To my knowledge Orogs are half-Ogres, not Orcs. Although they could be half-Ogre half-Orc (though there's a specific name for that: Ogrillon).
It is possible it got changed again in later editions though. I really dislike when that happens.
