Woedeiir's diary

Unread post by Storm Munin »

The cycle before yesterday:

Freedom and a grand hangover. No more masters if I can help it.
Met a jaluk named Adin and his volunteer servant svirfnebli named Merin in the bazaar.
Adin proved to be useful for gaining components and trinkets in the underdark.
He claims to belong to the Beastlord but honors our praised Queen and has a proper demeanor. Cast divine spells, firey ones in particular, like to coat me in a barkskin.
Handy male.

Obnoxious female trickster named Nawiel pulled a prank on me, lets see how she likes the payback. When opportunity arise.
Also met two wizards named Nymrath and Zakn'Atar along with a wizardess named Shynt'Riina. Their usefulness are too early to tell.

Yesterday:
Went adventuring with Adin, Zakn'Atar and Shynt'Riina. Merin showed up later in the stonespear goblin tribal areas.
Also that mysterious svirfnebli priest and a useful orc fittingly named Bonk joined.
Adin tried my temper by dying again!
Thankfully Faernil Shynt'Riina had a scroll to spend.
He isnt too bright when it come to tactics but he is loyal.

Today, 4223 progressions since the great failure, 6 of 12, 7:3:
Got lucky and found a spell chamber unused in the early hours of the cycle.
Used the time and quarters well to divine the day.
Nothing troublesome revealed itself in my scrying ball.
Zilc was playful again. Fed him some beetles.

Spent the midday harvesting pincers for faern Zarmoon, fire burst is such a handy spell when you are alone.
Went shopping for the plakla.
Zilc is whiny, not that I pay attention. Do spiders get stomach ache? Serves him right for gorging himself.

Perhaps another adventure with Adin tonight?
He will have the Hells to pay if he does not comment on my new black dress.

<date>

One of those days when I felt blessed.
First some practice at scrying and then a bit of cajouling with the merchants and some wizards.

For rather mundane reasons I thus became in need of the services of an illusionist, lo and behold!
The young one with the radical haircut made his presence known just outside Gloura's.
Nymrath, yes thats his claimed name.

Anyway, after some banter and haggling he aided me in retrieving objects of some value from dangerous places in the tunnels.
All for the promise of aid once in the future.
He did not even ask for written contract!

Just for the chaos of it I feel like actually helping him.
I wonder if it will be in the ways he imagined?

The coins made should last me a few weeks of study and experiments.

Through pure chance I ended up seeking coin with that able svirfnebli warrior Merin when his cousin Yurken showed up. Apparently all svirfnebli call each other cousins because of some golden hills in their past.
Anyhow we raided the stonefire goblins again and I learned geedle's loop is a good spell around Merin.
Grease and web not so much, good to know.
Shynt'Riina joined us but had to leave after a while, I suspect she wanted to learn what Zakn'Atar was doing in Sshamath for so long.
Also met that evoker girl again, her spell repetoir is limited but she can use it like forever.
I wonder if she has some kind of spell storage device?

A fair cycle all in all.

Two boonful if harrowing cycles spent out in the tunnels.
The innard of the stonespear tribe yesterday, today most successfully in the necromancer's playground.
With lesser success boosted by our pride we struck a foray into the Illithid mines.
We survived long enough to see reason.

Nymrath has found a new friend in a masked and armorwearing Faernil named Sasha.
A very trusting person it would seem since she now habitually let me aid her with donning her armor.
I am unsure of her School but she cast her weaves with words alone most of the time.

Nymrath is either gullible or more cunning than I give him credited for.
As a test I cast negative energy rays at one of the undead we were fighting.
He did not seem to take note in any way.
By chance I also acid spattered Sasha as an undead fell faster than I had anticipated, she took it most graciously.
Not sure on her.

The svirfnebli Sargtlin Merin is as able as ever finding narrow passages to make a stand in and take the brunt of enemy ambitions, I wonder how he would fare against a drow Dreadnought? Anyway, it is a valuable asset. For now.

During the expedition towards the Illithid mines Faernil Shynt'Riina made her presence known in the cave with the Horrors.
Coincidentally she materialized in between our ranks just after a pack of Horrors hit us.
A jali worth watching I think, I see much of me in her.

The prize of the days turned out to be a wand of Cure Moderate Wounds and a wand of Displacement.
Not bad, but I am lagging in my spell refinement.
Tomorrow should be spent studying, unless divinations claim otherwise.

Hissing and sputtering insults into the darkness of her chambers Woedeiir barged into her room doors banging behind her.
Who was that vith Nawiel and just how influential was she with those two Seats, presuming she had not lied about them and their closeness?

Fuming the wizardess enspelled herself with nondection spells as she considered her next steps.

To think the cycle had started so well with faern Nymrath sharing her errand run and then that boon of a sargtlin Uelaereene had fallen into her lap as she was exploring the near tunnels to Varalla's.
Cursing she pondered why her morning divination had held no clues to the spell duel she had just suffered and rather notably lost at that, even if the escape had been cunning and smooth.
She had lost!

May the Abyss take that...that..
What was she and who was she to the city of Dark Weaving anyway this Nawiel?
Somewhat calmer being caught up in her scheming Woedeiir sat down to consider her revenge.

First you analyze the problem, then you identify the problem before removing it off the board.
One way or another, xas?

Slowly the angry glare in her eyes faded as she set her mind to the problem, soon enough her face held a wry smile of expectation.
- I keen your fall faernil Nawiel, but not when or how you expect it. No, not at all.
She giggled, still processing what needed doing to meet her ends.

A few moments later she scribbled into her journal:
Faernil Nawiel will learn what comes around, goes around.

A sweet day at the bazaar getting to know Shynt'Riina better in the process.
She is decidedly less gloomy than the average necromancer and has a humorous touch.
Even better she agreed to aid me in my experiment for the prize of learning the spell herself.
I naturally agreed since she would be most useful in some parts of the process.

Also got a laugh out of faern Nymrath, I do not know what he did when the tailor dressed him up, but it became rather apparent once he met me and Shynt'Riina that he had some rather sane objections as to the coloring.
