If you mean the Reserve Feats, ie: Invisible Needle, Acidic Splatter & Co...they're a bad choice, I agree.

It's usually one wasted feat that could and should have been used better. Most of the people picking them satisfy the psychological need to keep casting every round, despite being overall useless to the group when they do in fact employ the RF.

There is no mechanical reason whatsoever that can justify a Reserve Feat. So yes, they are a waste of time :).

No reserve feats are not a waste of time. The fire one is great. Put on a robe of fire resistance or amulet, and blast away, especially at mobs, especially if you have combat expertise or improved combat expertise. They may be a waste of time by level 30, but for levels 6 - 15 or so, they do pretty awesome for some builds.

That's right.
"Arcane Trickster"
Does not need them. Even though it has maximum synergy with the Reserve Feats, they're still unnecessary. It's LOLsome, really.

That is exactly what I found out as well. It's nice for leveling, but once you hit 30, it's almost entirely useless

It is actually not all that bad with daggerspell mage and arcane trickster. I mean, obviously, you're no controller mage anymore, you're a blaster. And you can probably get damage in the 60s or so if I remember correctly. You have extra spells for that massive damage, but you can quite easily solo grind as a mage with invisible needle or acidic splatter. And that's what people want, I guess.

I don't though. I prefer high DCs. Can solo with that as well (dominate monster with buffs can be pretty good!), it's just a bit slower.

Ye, exactly DG.

As a Daggerspell Mage and Arcane Trickster, you can also grind with two dominated buffed thralls (one evoked by you, one dominated after energy drain/enervation), which is even better.

Playing with the Reserve Feat makes the Trickster and DSM still far worse than a proper Sorcerer and any Warlock under the sun. I don't think it's a good bargain, mechanically.

It's a good thing Reserve Feats are available. But I personally would never take one, in any case.

Or if you have a build like my Asmos, who is an air genasi all about thunder and lightning. The reserve feat is awesome for him. Dominating thralls and summoning is just not how he rolls, roles, or rolls.
