Chiara: Exploring and Adventure

Tymora's Quest (DM set task)

Chiara explored her mind, thinking of her greatest fears.

'My fears are nothing that I can face. It is not the time, nor will I ever think I will allow myself to ever really face them.' She sighed to herself, her fingers finding her forehead, the tips of them pressing hard. 'This is unfair, I should not even have to do this for him'

She later found herself with her friends, her focus guided more towards Cosimo. 'He must be able to help me, something daring, something, something. He would know, he is a servant of Tymora.'

The talks did not seem to help, her mind filled with overwhelming confusion and mixed feelings on really what to do, considering her reaction to cursed tiefling Liam, being returned to the land of the living at all.

His new lover Rita, Chiara's friend joined them; the guilt began within her. 'I promised. I can not take away her chance. It is not for him anymore.' She raged within, the guilt stirring more so, sadness grasping at her for the relations with Liam, and her memories and warnings of her past beating at her skull.

'I must do something daring, challenging enough to win Tymora's favour. For her to at least watch upon me while I dare to go where I have been told not to.'

Though her will was to go alone, Cosimo urged he would go with her. She worried about his abilities, more so of his life being in her hands. He seemed strong, but was he going because of her, and that was not fair. 'What if something terrible happens? I know I can run. But what if he doesn't? What if I fall, what if he can't help... what if we both perish?' She walked towards the harbour, even the rain could not really comfort her as it had before, her body not complying to her attempted demeanour of bravery.

They found the silhouette of the house against the stars, as they neared and the building grew larger, fear began to strike through her body. Her mind riddled with questions and confusion of other things before her focus drawn more-so to the task at hand, her mind clearing as the dread set in. 'I can run, he can run, we just need to go in and... just take a peek.'

It had taken them hours to find the house, darkness had crept in, or at least it had felt that it had never left. The candle-light flickered from the residence at the top of the cliff and both Chiara and Cosimo held their own emotions close, not showing each other their real feelings. They had come this far and no second thoughts were going to ruin it.

With several ducks, bumps and bursts of energy to hide from possible peering undead eyes, they made it towards the house without being seen, or so they hoped. 'It is now, or never. This is not for me, this is for Rita. Tymora watch upon me and your servant.'

Chiara and Cosimo burst into the haunted house, her heavy hammer and his dancing magic encompassing and crushing the constructs of the undead. The fear that was once there, began to fade as they felt they had no reason to run, but to face the undead within the halls... and of course, the adventure was far too much fun to turn from now.

The stench of congealed blood and rotting flesh came from the halls above, they knew what was there. It was what they had come to do. To seek the Vampires. To observe them, and even perhaps witness the great Lich she had heard of, and been warned severely about. They carefully went through each room, and even taunted one of the vampires as it had attacked. Her whole body shook with adrenaline as they snuck their way through rooms, listened for movements, and even found treasure! Soon however, the blessings of her Lord began to fade, and Cosimo's magical blood was no longer willing to comply either.

Though they had failed to find the Lich, the vampires had proved enough for that night. They had to leave, and fast before the Vampires caught wind of their exposed weakness. They ran. Chiara almost tripping over her own feet, rushing to the door, they found a construct on the route to their escape before the door lead them to the warm sun and the cool breeze on the edge of the cliff.

It was exhilarating. She felt alive. More alive than she had for quite some time. The real vibrations of fear remaining in her body for some time, but to her, this was not a bad thing. It meant she had won a victory in her battles of doubt. The prize was to be free, if only for the moment.

//Rewritten slightly for readability. It was a pretty quick (and sloppy) write up.

The Rooftop Dance
Chiara watched as the rooftop door closed, her eyes lingering on it for a moment longer than she should have before moving to the edge. She looked down to see if there were any guards beneath that would catch her shadow. When all seemed clear, she carefully unclipped her armour, resting it neatly by the wall. Selune's tears were watching, all ten of them visible and seeming to dance in the late night sky in anticipation.

Chiara was never very dexterous, not for an elf, but her bare feet found the wall steady and wide enough to remain balanced if for only a little while. As she took each step forward she focused on nothing but the feel of the cold brick beneath her, the breeze whirring softly over the building and the moonlight guiding her step. She stepped closer and closer to the end of the wall, it tempting her forth to challenge her balance. Her eyes closed in an attempt to numb any serious thought processes that would accompany her to test her will. Toeing the edge, she opened her eyes, them peering below; a guard patrolling beneath.

Suddenly, the blank emotion she had been holding on to tightly, turned into a blazing fire within her as she fell back, landing promptly on her behind.

The Sweeping Storm

Chiara stood at the foothills of Nashkel, her vision blurred by the snowy storm setting in. It was peaceful; the crunch of snow beneath her boot was the only thing she could hear. Pulling the fur lined cloak over herself, she shivered, hiding her face as the wind began to pick up, howling, and biting at her cheeks.

Her thoughts were on nothing but the events of late, her eyes searching for answers as her mind overflowed with questions. She would look back every so often, the sun had not yet sprung into the sky. 'I hope I get back before they think I am missing.' They had told her not to go alone, but she felt she had been responsible for enough peoples safety as of late, she could not justify the idea when she could do it unaided.

The steep paths were empty, or so she thought, and even the giants in the area had likely gone for shelter. She struggled as she got further, her heavy armour and the relentless snow storm hindering her progress, forcing her to set up camp on a hidden path beneath the winter pines.

The likelihood of her finding any evidence now were slim.
