Not sure if this is right place but it looks the least wrong...
With the placeable props is it possible to change the description of the item produced?
Using the DMFI tool it is easy to change the name of the item and the description of the item as it appears in your inventory, but it does not change the description of the item placed.
I'm guessing the answer is "No" I'm just hoping I've missed something obvious.

Whatever its name is in your inventory is what it will be called once placed. Just make sure you move the item once in your inventory to 'cement' the change before placing it down.
However (and reading your post more carefully) the placeable's actual 'examine' description cannot be changed due to the way the script 'makes' the item once placed.
