CE / ICE with casters
Does it work, and with which does it, and with which doesn't it?
I read somewhere that wizards/sorcerers need to keep on casting to keep it active. Is that true?
And what about warlocks? I read there was a "bug" (not sure if it's a bug) which caused warlocks to use it without getting an AB penalty.

Re: CE / ICE with casters
It works on casters, giving them +3/+6 AC. The debate was about whether CE/ICE should lower the touch attacks, which currently it doesnt, therefore casters can use it without any disadvantage.

CE/ICE are used for powerbuilding. If you powerbuild, AoOs are nothing to worry about.Monnock777 wrote:But if you cast using ce or ice you will get an attack or opportunity on you so beware
Having 46-50AC ( more from armored casters ), mirrors, 50% concealment and 30DR then AoOs are nothing to worry about unless you have fallen asleep.

Re: CE / ICE with casters
An attack of opportunity (AoO) is a single (per round) free attack that is automatically taken when an enemy makes themselves vulnerable, such as moving in combat or casting a spell. This can only be made when the attacker is unarmed or wielding a melee weapon. Making an attack of opportunity will cancel other actions, such as casting a spell.
Well at this point you just give someone a free attack. Now this might be fine PVM but for PVP. Mages normally have low HP so that AoO might just be your death depending who you are fighting. Not sayin that it doesn't have its use on a mage but it does how ever have drawbacks as well. That is all I am saying.

Activating defensive casting instead of CE/ICE, does not provoke AoOsZanniej wrote:I thought that happened when casting a spell anyway . . . Doesn't it?Monnock777 wrote:But if you cast using ce or ice you will get an attack or opportunity on you so beware

You can use a concentration check it one of the abilities, but cannot be used at the same time as ce/ice or power attack and such abilities.

Re: CE / ICE with casters
Right, in that way. I didn't think of defensive casting mode.
