Thunderhammer smithy in Beregost has some f the best ones, as does the new Northlander merchant in the palace district (even a +4 mace and spear!).

Bearing in mind that I've probably seen only a tiny fraction of the game world:
Soubar seems to have a lot of very good staves, not wizard ones just clubbing people ones.
Roaringshore seems to have the best crossbows
As noted Gullykin has the best daggers.
The Temple of Mask of course carries some rather nice gear if you're inclined to sneaking.
The Seven Suns carries the most expensive clothing, but if you're looking to enhance particular skills seems to be the place to go.
Beyond that I'm at a loss.

This is actually quite a good list! Anyone that can expand on this?NeonAvenger wrote:Bearing in mind that I've probably seen only a tiny fraction of the game world:

Besides Thunderhammer(which Tsidkenu already mentioned), the merchant in Ulgoths has a good selection of +3 wares, one of the NPC's in the Nashkel shop has a few decent items, and the outdoors Candlekeep vendor(is he still there?) has some nice low level trinkets.Zanniej wrote:This is actually quite a good list! There are no level 30's, only level 20's with benefits...

Here are a couple notes:
Roaring Shore = Crazy Rapiers (every kind of +3 metal and a +3 EB +3 Shield AC, that's right Shield AC, not Deflection
)
Corm Orp= Crazy Short Swords!

The smiths apprentice in corm orp has some nice shortswords among other things. I think its a unique inventory, but I'm not sure.

Have a look around the Palace District in BG. I noticed some nice new wares the other day I hadn't seen before

Sshamath shops have lost a few very useful items though.
As for what shop has the best items it really depends on what you are looking for and what toon you ride.
Above:
Soubar shop has some staves that really have no equals in weaponry in the server shops along with a 0 ASF armor.
Roaring Shore has the +3 shielding rapier.
Beregost has that shadowy shield, +3 bone crusher longbow and the gaudy longsword.
Below:
Nullafein has some pretty cool things including a very nice greatsword and a caster belt.
Droin has a rather useful low level warhammer and the +3 h/ms shortswords amongst other things.
The Illithid hive has a sweet mace if you like controling undead along with some win some/loose some items.
The guys in the exotic shops basement sells some pretty nice things too depending on what you build.
But overall I would say the items in the Soubar shop deviate the most from the other shops.
As I recall the addition of the shop coincided with a desire to sponsor the usage of weaponry that do not have extended critical ranges by one way or another.
Apparently that ambition stopped at staves, but the future always bring hope.

The 3 merchants I made; illithid hive, Nulla'fein in Sshamath Central and Arnbjorn in the Palace district. Because these have actual lore on them!
