Rumour has it that a pig fighting pit in the Blushing Mermaid has ruffled some feathers with the local nobles. A few of them hired some adventurers to deal with the problem, and after being convinced to pay a hefty sum of gold (on the condition that their names would not be mentioned) the fighting element was moved to the arena outside the city.

Rumour also has it this operation was overseen by a lady in red...

A ragged priest of Ilmater can be overheard in local taverns, speaking of what occurred in the city recently. Apparently an unlikely group rid the city of the pig fights that were held in the docks district. Gold exchanged hands and the fights were relocated to the arena outside the city, much to the pleasure of some nobles who were apparently suffering from the “stink and sight of poor peasants and refugees”. The priest also kept talking of a jar of gold bearing a distinctive brown ribbon.

It is said that a short, lithe figure cloaked in red, wearing a set of leathers alternating colours of browns and greens has made a visit upon the alleged store in the harbour district where a supposed shrine of Mask exists, where one can potentially purchase goods not exactly considered legal by Ducal conduct.

A slender looking man wearing a brown hooded cloak and patchwork attire limps slowly along the Docks towards the Whistling Wandress sometime in the early hours of the evening. The frail looking fellow lingers long enough to gain the attention of one of the ships crew, then extends a widely sleeved arm and murmurs under his breath to them, before limping off and away into the night...

Days after the Battle in the near East, and when the Whistling Wanderess has returned to port under the skilled, swift guidance of the crew's Helmsman, Jon Smythe can be seen again at the Shelf of Many Books, his frequent haunt in recent times.

This day, with little care to be quiet and quite forward in his requests—acting with polite demand of one seeking knowledge in haste and with dire purpose—Smythe requests any records held in possession of the library regarding naval warfare upon the Chionthar. Specifically, any records related to strategic positions for launching and river-born attack positions, from the Gate as eastward as possible for most ship makes.

In addition, he queries the librarian over records or Journals of other Captains—even Baldur himself—as to the disposition of the Chionthar, and to its reliability for sailing upon it, in this time of year. As well, if there be known denizens of the river, spirits or creatures that either fight with or fight for its protection. Smythe can be heard commenting
: "It's a damn spear into the heart of the City...and as it stands now, it divides the Army. Can it become a wall against it's greater formation? That secret, shall it reside in history, is to be found. Either way, Librarian..." he speaks his mind to her, whether she wants to hear it or not, "speed in sailing the Chionthar provides a flanking to whatever marches its banks, westward. That should not be lost when planning strategy...."

Hours later, having left the Shelf of Many Books, Smythe heads back to the harbor and the Wanderess, moored there. He can be seen trying to engage both Calico Flint and Captain Deudermont. At times, his engagement seems to be a pleading with them...at others, showing them a hand with a gold coin in it.

The common visitors of the Temple of Ilmater and its residents would note an odd guest visiting and leaving without much word or action. They describe the guest as "Probably a woman", wearing a green dress. However, she is said to have medium to short length hair and rather androgynous features. Still, one thing is certain that this visitor of elven descent, with some human in it as well. Furthermore, she is said to have a hair as white as the coming snow.

A merchant ship drifts into Baldur's Gate harbor late in the afternoon. As it docks and the crew begin unloading its' cargo, several passengers depart to various parts of the city. One stocky man makes his way to the Palace District, visiting the inns there before leaving and heading towards the Elfsong Tavern. Upon arrival he talks with the innkeep for an extended period of time before handing over a small, canvas pouch. He then makes his way upstairs and is not seen until early the next morning, at which time he exits the Gate and heads south along the Trade Way.

There seems to be a half-elven lady of not entirely delicate features who makes semi-frequent visits to the temple of Ilmater. Wearing thick make up one could considered expensive if not lavish, she'd still seem to participate in the occasional hand needed during those visits. Some would say she delivers something each time.

Hoihe can be seen quizzing sailors about the recent weather conditions and what they believe might be coming in the next tenday, especially around Chiontar.
