I think Passiflora should summon all the kittens in the realm to relentlessly nuzzle the DDoSer until (he/she/cyborg overlord) has too many warm fuzzies to be angry. At which point (he/she/cyborg overlord) will spend the money (he/she/cyborg overlord) is wasting DDOSing us and maybe help needy people in (his/her/cyborg overlord's) community.

I think that would make everyone much happier and also help some people in need.

Alternatively, (he/she/cyborg overlord) could just give the money to me and I will use it to dye my cat's hair.

Either way, it's a win. :)

Gamespy has been showing 5-10 people in game for the past 30 minutes or so, but I am unable to log in... Is this being experienced by others or is the server up right now and the problem is on my end?

I just thought of something...

these attacks 'feel' personal...

Has anyone considered the possibility that the person or persons behind these attacks might not have a grudge against our server or the community as a whole, but rather against a particular individual or group that is able to play at certain times?

like... maybe they feel wronged in some way for some reason —real or imagined— and want to try to keep a particular person or persons from playing?

just a thought :/

That makes me feel really uncomfortable, because it means the rat is inside and no outside, as it has been always considered. I think I will continue thinking in the former idea... just to feel a bit better. :?

I must say, I'm one of the 7 lucky players in the server right now. It only took me about half an hour to get out of the nexus . . . And I haven't been able to do anything yet, but I'm hopefull!

I don't know if they feel personal at all, sure it's always at the same time (Even though today it started nearly 3 hours later) But this community is just so small and most of the people are adults that i don't even know if anyone here would waste time DDOSing the server because They didn't like what some random person did.

I feel kinda sorry for the person who is wasting time of his/her life DDOSing BGTSCC, 50-60 man server of noncommercial, independent gaming. I feel sad especially when I imagined that he/she is lacking friends in his/her life and how small his penis (if any) must be :? *sighs* ...life can be harsh sometimes.

Lol i am fairly confident it is someone who feels slighted by the community, either by way of a ban or some such, and they are paying a company to ddos us. And if that is indeed the case, I wish I had money like that to just blow on ddosing :) oh well, it'll end... One day

The thing is that the Ddos attacks are usually between 16:00 and 0:00 EU time.
it's mainly affecting the people from the EU, since during the US prime time there is nothing.

Another thing is that If the person in question could ddos himself he/she would most likely pick better times to harass.
For example during the US prime time, a lot more players are active.
Big DM events are announced upfront so if this ddos were to aim his/her rage at the server as a whole he/she could do a lot worse.

Think about it you could ddos the server during large server events, big rp events.
You could enable/disable the script a lot more.
Some one that is out there to bring the server to it's knees isn't going to target the server during the time when the least amount of people are on.

Simply put if the harassment would be aimed against the whole server the person in question would have done a lot more.

Just a wild speculation, but the person that is doing the ddos attacks could just be a player that is not active during the EU times ,and has some grudge against a group/few players.
It's plausible to take this into consideration since during his/her own play time the server seems stable.
People do weirder things on the internet than this, I bet we all met this 'one person' on the net.

Last thing is, if the person would be testing ddos script he/she would pick different times.
To see how it will work when there are different amount of people online.
Another thing is a tester would pick other targets as well ,just not one specific server.
I doubt that they are going to pester the same server over and over since it won't provide more data.

Over all some one that is testing ddos scripts and what not would probably move on.

To me it seems like a personal grudge as well , obviously targeted towards some one that plays during the EU prime time.
If that is the case than you just need to find a hard way to deal with it, this just looks like an unhealthy obsession.

It just feels like a weird coincidence that the server is always going up between 23:00 and 0:00 and tends to be left alone on Sundays.

If they are using a paid service it's a very bad idea because, well: http://www.geek.com/news/paid-ddos-serv ... n-1613924/

Happens to other stuff like the Silk Road and the providers for illegal cheats for online games.

If they aren't paying for anything I would think they could use their talents for better ends. I'm really sorry for all you EU players who have to put up with this .

I think this DDoSer set up the script. Went outside, got struck by lighning, and now his computer just DDoSes us. When his electricity finally gets cut off, we'll be fine.
