Hello I would like to ask a question:

Does this apply to any spells which does not deal "direct" damage?

Like Wail of Banshee, Evard's etc.

Wail of the Banshee already only targets enemies by default anyways, so that shouldn't be a problem. I am not sure if mastery of shaping works with cloud effects and other lingering AoE effects, but I don't think it does.

It should work with spells like Mass Hold Monster and Hiss of Sleep, however. Someone with experience with it may know better. Invoker?

As DG mentioned, Wail of the Banshee is already fully party-friendly, therefore you have no need for MoS.

MoS does NOT work with cloud effects (lingering AoE) such as: Cloudkill, Incendiary Cloud, Evard's Black Tentacles, Grease, Web & Co.

MoS DOES work with AoE bursts, such as Horrid Wilting (party. YOU are never affected), Ice Storm, Fireburst/Gr. Fireburst, Cone of Cold, Vitriolic Sphere, Prismatic Spray and the likes.

Mass Hold and Sleep spells belong to the latter.

There are, however, a few notable exceptions: Delayed Blast Fireball, for instance. This spell should work with Shaping, but it does not. Meteor Shower (Area) works, whereas (creature) does not.
I don't believe these are balance changes, it makes more sense if they are bugs/oversight. Refer to the QC team for confirmation, I have no idea.
