New Chest System
I for one do appreciate the intent of the change to the treasure chest system.
However, only being able to loot it once per reset is.... hurtful. More on that in a moment.
The fact the chest relocks and rearms with traps (if applicable) is a nice feature. This lets everyone in the party have their crack at some loot. Which is fine. No one has to compete for loot in the chests anymore.
Here is the problem. If I can only loot the chest once per reset (takes about 20ish minutes to complete a dungeon and head out) then the amount of loot taken from chest only is 1. completely random and 2. a lot of crit fails.
For example, I was in goblin "cave" on reset. First one in. I loot all the chests (just once, cause dem's the rules now) and I got the following loot.
17 Gold
10 Gold + Mage Cap (+2 Concentration)
6 Gold
15 Gold + gauntlet +1 Str
17 Gold + kama +1
19 Gold + Mundane Kama
24 Gold
That is it. I can afford healing kit pack of 10 because of the kama and gauntlet, but that is about it. Then have to wait 8 hours 40 minutes to try again.
Now this would not be so bad... but mobs jut don't drop loot. Sure the boss mobs do, but those are boss mobs. Normal mobs need to drop 10-30 coins and some actual loot more than they are now, which is probably 1 per 100 kills.... don't take my numbers seriously ,but it is fairly rare to see a lootbag, and more common to see that loot bag with scale male or a stein.
Anyhow... I hope further tweaks are made to the looting system as a whole ,because right now, I am going to be broke more than a two legged horse. But the changes are in the right direction I believe.
Thank you.

Re: New Chest System
Hawke,
You are also missing the main point of the change. You can now go to higher level dungeons with a group of friends and each of you will be able to collect loot. This change was done to encourage grouping and RP. Doing so will greatly increase the number of chests that you can accomplish in a day.
Also if we were to leave it at looting 2x per day, you would be able to loot, close the chest and then reloot due to the new system. This would double your loot without increasing your danger.

Hawke,
We are currently discussing in the QC team about increasing probabilities. It is something that can be easily adjusted. We will likely be careful and wait to see what happens with this new system, but be assured, we are paying attention and discussing the matter.

What was left out of the equation though is that before when groups came to a dungeon, they sometimes stayed until everyone looted the chests twice anyway. So everyone in the party got the loot anyway. Now everyone gets the loot faster, but it's limited to only half as much.

Re: New Chest System
I get the point of the system. I like where it is headed, however, the probabilities of the gold and value of the loot you obtain is... well mediocre right now.
I would suggest increased mediocre bag drops from critters as well with this system.
As it stands now, the amount of treasure obtained from one dungeon crawl (granted my experience is limited to goblins/gnolls and below) is not really that substantial to even maintain health kits.
Keep up the good work.
Oh and see what I did there? I voiced concerns with the system and provided feedback with suggestions for improvement

Re: New Chest System
Your feedback is much-needed and appreciated. I would encourage everyone to share their opinion on the new system to help us fine-tune it for a better gaming experiment. This is a pretty big change and I expect we are going to have to make adjustments before we get it just right.

Re: New Chest System
I can see where the lower level PCs might be hurt by this initial change over for sure in the gold for expendables department. I guess the immediate answer is to utilize the creature parts system for some of that stuff? Like beetle shells, spider mandibles and the like. What Cradh said is also a great thing to explore as well. Start grouping up more to go to more and more dungeons to get the loot as well. This entire change is based on removing the phat lootz iz all mine animosity that was happening and to encourage grouping. It would seem at the moment the encouragement is a little more of a shove right into the deep end for some.
However if others are experiencing the same issues of being held back so to speak I would say it is important to keep expressing the issue in a constructive manner like Hawke has done. That is a prime example of how these threads are supposed to go!!!

Maybe the amount of gold that drops could be drastically increased (ie. instead of 30, you might find 300). I would leave the drop rates as they are, though.
Oh, and the trick to this new system is to agree beforehand that all loot profits get shared at the end of the adventure.

Doesn't the server already have a significant issue with gold coin inflation..? That would really make it worse in the long run.Tsidkenu wrote:Maybe the amount of gold that drops could be drastically increased (ie. instead of 30, you might find 300). Re: New Chest System
So before the change a group of three had to stay in a single dungeon for 6*30 minutes, to allow everyone to loot twice. That's three hours staying in one place, and denying the rest of the server access to this area and its loot.Thids wrote:What was left out of the equation though is that before when groups came to a dungeon, they sometimes stayed until everyone looted the chests twice anyway. With the new system, a group can go through a dungeon in 30 mins and everyone will loot once. They can then spend 30min casually walking through transitions to the next dungeon. Spend another 30min going through that dungeon, and now everyone have looted twice in 1½ hour.
Seems like it nets a neat profit for the group of three! And they no longer block others from entering and looting too. There group might even expand to being four, or five, or six, because it'll no longer mean they need to spend even more time in that one dungeon.
It will also mean that some of the less used areas might see even more traffic now. Which I consider an added bonus
Really pleased to hear you're paying attention to the new system though - keep up the good work!
