I closed the language choice window for a new character before I chose all available languages. What do I do.
PS: Why is Cormanthan available as a language but not Amnish, given that Amn is much closer than Cormyr? Just wondering.

I would suggest to contact a DM regarding giving you the missing languages. If you are requesting a language that is otherwise not shown on your language bar, an available biography is recommended to have on hand.
With regards to languages used in Amn:

Forgotten Realms Wikia wrote:Although most languages were spoken in Amn due to the large number of traders from all across the Realms, Thorass was used for official documents and speeches. This was despite Common being used exclusively for this purpose in other neighbouring lands. A regional language sometimes referred to as Amnian common was spoken by the rural inhabitants of Amn, and this was made up of a dialect of Common with certain words in Thorass.

So what language was used by non-rural inhabitants of Amn when not writing official documents or speeches, or are there no non-rural inhabitants of Amn?
I was digging through FR language "information" using this quote to search from, what a total fustercluck of a mess. Cormanthan is descended from Thorass AND it is Elven, and this is said in the same paragraph???
Thorass is a Jotun language?
Oh, wait, no, it's an old human language.
Oh, no, that's something else.
Is there any non-crappy source for this information that a PLAYER (not a character) can use to get some idea of how things work and why Cormanthan, spoken in a DISTANT country, would be available to someone who came to Baldur's Gate by caravan but whatever is spoken in the towns of Amn, which is close and is a trading partner of Baldur's Gate, is not?
I didn't tell Mystra that my character came from the East, just that he came by caravan...

There are, and it would be Chondathan.Unka_Oogie wrote:So what language was used by non-rural inhabitants of Amn when not writing official documents or speeches, or are there no non-rural inhabitants of Amn?
Its largely a bug. And will be fixed next update. Its not something to get upset about (Indeed, I'd ask you not to) as you can ask a DM IG to give you the right languages.Unka_Oogie wrote:

The source you are looking for for human languages is the table on pages 110-111 of races of Faerun. It, and the chapters it is in, will help with human ethnicities and cultural practices as well.

I know I am not supposed to be here, but,,,, when you level you get the language pop up window again.
If the language is not on the list, then, yeah, you need to contact a DM
