Actually playing a pair of drows and a wood elf, and maaaaaybe one of my drows wouldn't feel annoyed by this split on the pool. Elves for everyone!

Aasimar now, dwarf for all the years I've been here before this new development. Anyway:

It's drow in singular and plural. One drow, many drow. It's never drows! :geek:

And if its a female its drowess obviously teeheehee

I have played elves, drow and even a halfling briefly but my main was always a human. I just always get stuck with a human character concept. Though admittedly, roleplaying a sun elf briefly was probably the most fun so far in terms of rp related to the race of the character specifically.

Duergar don't have SR and 10 con for 4 cha isn't a lot. I think you mean svirnefblin aka deep gnome.

Also xp penalties really don't matter as much as some think. I mean if you are building for power or RP that is.

I was completely sure that "drows" were the plural (in fact, in Spanish the plural is made this way). Thank you for the correction Karond and for the extra info Thids, everyday something new is learnt. ;)

No. I meant Drow with SR and attributes, and Duergar with attributes and DD. Svirf isn't an issue.

And XP penalties matter a lot, because nobody wants to play 6 months instead of 3 to reach lvl 30 (power).

How are svirfs not an issue but drow / duergar are? If you just compare the races by their bonuses alone the gnomes are better off. They do get SR just as drow do. They also don't suffer any penalties when they are in surface areas.

I don't.

Drow and Duergar are fantastic picks for a race, but that doesn't mean they constitute a problem, by the way.

Duergar? Deep dwarf? The race whose bonuses are almost all rendered useless by DD the only viable class for Dwarves since their ability scores suck? So what's powerful? The immunity to poison/ phantasms/ paralyzation that a DD will have 30+D20 after 2 rolls to overcome? +4 AC against non existent UD giants? Bonus to move silent on a race that can't access SD? The spell like abilities perhaps are a nice feature. It will save on scroll costs but is nothing unique tbh.

Human is my main like most, I have more fun on my orc though. I just don't play him as much because when there's 50 people on, usually just 2 of them are in the under dark. It gets lonely
Wirg to Pug: "Iz lat dun?"
Pugratix to a snarky militia man: "Mmmm. Not yet. I will live for hundreds of years and be heralded as one of the greatest forces of destruction on the face of the world. The only thing you can destroy is the outhouse."

I didn't realize this was a lesson on how to play/build. I thought it was about people not realizing how strong Humans are. Fair enough :)!

-) The race's bonuses are, in fact, amazing. You play wizard and don't know this. Very strange.

-) DD isn't the only viable class for dwarves. It's just one of the best PrCs in the game, and LIMITED to dwarves.

-) Yes. Immunity to poison means being immune to poisons that DO NOT have a save, like Cloudkill for instance. Good joke saying immunity to poison isn't good: I can kill your regular surface DD any day of the week with CK, but not a Duergar. For the other things, it's still very handy to have, especially vs paralysis: you never know which kind of DC will hit you in events, for instance.

-) UD giants don't exist. Giants DO exist, and Duergars DO have legs to move around, while DMs DO have ports...so yeah, +4 AC is very good to have. You forgot to mention: they can make good use of their Orc/Goblinoids battle training from the very beginning.

-) Bonus to stealth is useless on BGTSCC. No big deal, though.

-) The spell-like abilities are excellent. Clerics take STR domain to get Enlarge and better spell management, you get the first for free, at your CL. You can also turn invisible as a SLA. Saying it's like a scroll is preposterous: you don't need astronomical UMD, you can't be rupted, you cast faster, it lasts longer...Not a chance.

Shield Dwarf is already a strong pick. Duergar is even better. Not really a Drow, but then again, Drow cannot pick DD.

Insults are a sign that we should move on.

Yes chambordini there are a few players that RP being aasimar however it is one of those things that do not often naturally come up in conversations since most RP them as indistinguishable. I actually have an aasimar cleric I no longer play and included the fact that tieflings may sense it and cringe around him in his examine. Never had a single player act on it though.

So when's the campaign to lower the Aasimar str score by 2?
Aurelien Amon: Human fighter, member of the Whitewood Vanguard, Hoarite

Lotrik: Not a wise Genasi, probably stronger than you tho, a master of longswords. Fully retired

Bob Thairo: Dreadknight of Bane, Back on the Coast, tyranning away with his wife
