Laurio Joriin- Dragon Hunting is Painful

Unread post by fearknight2003 »

((This is a journal for Laurio Joriin, my low-level Dragon Warrior))

Alturiak 5 1352
Found a group planning to take on Icehaup, the great white wyrm living in the Cloudpeak mountains. Sounds like fun, right? Powerful spellcasters and warriors accompanied us, so I didn't see too much risk. Ha ha. We pretty much all died! Dragons are freaking scary. Luckily the magic-people escaped, resurrected the fallen, teleported us out. Very very lucky.

Alturiak ? 1352
Etele, the swordsman guy, after boasting of being the greatest swordsman on the Coast, was verbally attacked and threatened by Celas, the arrogant fool elf who thinks killing a few wandering beasts puts him above all of us. Though I tried to dissuade him, Etele is set upon joining the Zhentarim to escape people like Celas. I will continue trying to convince him not to, but I doubt it will have any effect.

Alturiak ?+1 1352
Found a very powerful magical Kama belonging to the Beholder. We slew it and took from its hoard; I came away with a Nymph Cloak ((+3)) and the Kama, which I managed to sell for 5000 gold pieces.
It was a fun year (I think). Bye.

Alturiak (probably) ???+?, 1352

I met a woman named Evana today. We killed kobolds, bladelings, and the wyrmling. After looting its hoard, we continued through the cavern, killing two gelatinous cubes, ten or so gibberlings, and an invisible panther.

I probably should have been paying more attention, though, because we were ambushed by gibberlings from all sides. Evana fell quickly, but I managed to fight my way out with her corpse in tow.

There I met Etele; he is still planning to join the Zhentarim. While I am grateful he paid for Evana's resurrection, he still needs to reconsider. The zhentarim are bad people.

Alturiak 10, 1352

There's a fight brewing out here- a gnomish ranger refuses to put away her spider companion, and this fool orc insists that it needs to die. *describes Chukka*
This woman *describes Severine* is egging him on, while that elf Celas has decided that the orc should die for being an orc, and is using the spider to justify it. This other man *describes Lotrik* keeps telling Celas to kill the orc, saying orcs aren't people, trying to start a fight. Wesmille, the half-elf, helps me trying to talk them out of it, while Celas threatens the orc with death many times. A large crowd gathers, tension rises, and suddenly the orc pulls a scythe and kills the spider. Big mistake; Celas strikes, bringing the orc down in two blows. A priest manages to arrive in time to heal the orc, and he gets away. Then Etele steps forward.
Etele repeatedly insists that Celas will meet his match in combat one day, while Celas calls him a fool who is too cowardly to fight. Luckily, Etele just walks away, and a second fight is avoided.
It was a fun year (I think). Bye.

Alturiak 14- Near the Trade Way
Met one Lieutenant Armstrong inside Baldur's Gate city. He was assembling a team of eight adventurers to go find nine refugees and kill the Toecutters. I joined, along with Melvor the wizard-magic guy, Dametta the half-orc, Isioviel the elven ranger, Agathion Benedictus, and a dwarf who left halfway through.

As we snuck through the area, searching for the bandit camp, the Orc insists on threatening me. Isioviel ran ahead to search for the camp itself while we all stayed hidden.

She returned, we all saw the way the bandits had fled with the refugees. Melvor and Isioviel cut the hostages' bindings and told them to run on our cue.

Then we charged! But suddenly there was a minotaur! ((Armstrong was aggro'd on the wrong thing, so he was attacking Melvor at this point)) Armstrong and Melvor were both absent for the fight, and the cowardly orc just watched from fifty feet back. I was severely injured, but healed in an hour or so thanks to magic potions, and Agathion was also injured. He healed too.

Then the orc starts to insult me and calls me weak. I don't sheathe my blades, expecting her to attack and kind of wanting her to attack so I could make her shut up.

We all escort the refugees to safety in Baldur's Gate, leaving the area of the fight quickly- the Lieutenant warned us that these bandits would sell the refugees to dark elves, as slaves.
It was a fun year (I think). Bye.
