Gray Orc: Daylight Adaptation

Unread post by Shadowcryer »

Greetings, everyone. After having a long break, I've decided to have a Gray Orc as my main character, who lives on surface.
According to his concept, he left his underground place of living some years ago, and came to BG recently. But, it is not about his bio: the question is, should I take a Daylight Adaptation feat by the role play, or it is okay to be unadapted to sunlight for a Gray Orc, who spent several years on surface?
Example: As I understand, Viconia, in original BG series, often complains on sunlight, so I should guess, that she, is not adapted, despite she spent quite long time on surface.

it is possible that at some point a light source mechanic will be implemented that would give more meaning to having daylight adaptation. However, as it stands it is really not a 'necessary' feat to take.

I think at least part of why Viconia was always complaining was just that it was something she enjoyed doing...after all she complained about a lot of other stuff besides the sun! :P

End of the day I would say take it (or not) based off how you want to RP your grey orc. maybe he spends his days in caves (or never leaves his inn room during daylight hours) and thus hasn't managed to adapt...

Perhaps i will stick with Daylight Adaptation, but i don't know, how to roleplay it: character has an Epic Weapon Focus, but has not any Weapon Specialization and Improved Critical feats. (Since Improved Critical is the only feat i can trade on Daylight Adaptation, and, perhaps, i will regret it greatly, considering powerbuilders around, and how hard is to find Keen Greatsword weapon, ideally with decent enchantments, if it is possible at all :( )

When "The" patch is released, Gray Orcs get hit by the light sensitivity (even in combat log), and if they are anywhere but the Underdark, they get hit by it.

I do not know if Daylight Adaptation works, but it might be worth looking at.
If the text is this color, I am on duty, everything else is just my humble opinion.

Daylight adaption due to roleplay reasons beat any improved critical feat every time.

If you arent a caster, cannot find the suitable weapon with keen property ->

Get the scabbard of keen or have someone craft you the proper wand.

Or just find the wand.

Meanwhile use scrolls or some gear giving you the right improved critical feat.

I do not use UMD skill, like most "roleplayers" do, since it does not fit my character (maybe it does, but there are another skills, that fit him more), so no wands will be here.
Never heared about scabbard :o
