Strength based melee warlock?
Hello,
I saw plenty of builds for dexterity based locks but I really wanted to try my hand at playing using mostly hideous blow and other warlock buffs.
I know we have a lot of talented builders around here and was hoping someone could throw a build or two my way, for something that is both effective AND fun to play.
Warlock/FB maybe?
Thanks!

A strength lock is going to probably be somewhat like a DEX bard. Fine, but not as good as the other way around. My best guess would be F12/FB5/Lock 13 if you want luck for mostly hideous blow and dispel doesn't matter much since you can rebuff. Would probably go 16 buffed DEX with mfp if you can get it. Otherwise would be maybe just lock 25/fb 5, probably feat starved...

So, I have tried to build a large number of warlock build with a strength warlock here and they all do great up until about 16. The main problem you run into is AC, and the fact that your blast damage only applies once per round no matter how many attack you have. You don't have enough mitigation, or damage, to work really well.
I had a wlk/dslay/fb build that was pretty decent, but the thing you run into is that you *really* need ICe, and on a fb you really need IPA

Sure will, pretty sure there was a infamous Xilaben of similar build that preyed on pit fiends for breakfastAC81 wrote:Warlock 16/ Dragonslayer 10/ Fighter 4. Will kill bosses and owns pve.
I never make mistakes…I thought I did once; but I was wrong.

I'd love to see where the AC for that build comes from. I love melee locks, just always run into AC issues

13 Dex, Mithral full plate, bracers AC+4 or use IMA wands and spam retributive invis. Combined with spam DR you don't get hit often or hard.

Ahhh, so $$$. Yeah, lot of builds work that way. Been here 5 years and I have never had any of those items.

My best stab at it with that split:
http://nwn2db.com/build/?236755
I placed the levels that way to make sure you get a dark invocation and eldritch master by 21 (9d6 required)

Actually, you know what just occurred to me? This build will have problems with the dispel fix. Mords and Gtr Dispels will probably hurt too much. I wouldn't play this after the CL fix.
Edit: I guess warlocks can just recast .... might not be too bad.

Yeah, they can just recast, but it can be a killer if you get dispelled midcombat.AC81 wrote:Actually, you know what just occurred to me? This build will have problems with the dispel fix. Mords and Gtr Dispels will probably hurt too much. I wouldn't play this after the CL fix.
