Re: New Player? Introduce Yourself!
Hi all.
I've been here for about two months, but haven't played a very active role in the forums except to talk about DDoS and ask questions to the DMs.
I play our resident jawa with kamas (Nisne), and newest Candlekeep Acolyte (Shei).
I'm American, but I've been living in Asia for the last four years or so. Two years in South Korea, and almost two years in Thailand. In the mundane world I'm a former literature teacher, now author (still working with my agent on revisions for my debut novel), and have been RPGing since I was in middle school a little over twenty years ago. Although most of my experience is with White Wolf's oWoD (which I guess is now the current WoD since Paradox has announced that it is bringing the oWoD back), I've played in a few table top D&D games, read about a million Forgotten Realms novels, and used to play NWN1 and NWN2 about 5 or 6 years ago. At that time I mostly played on the Abyssa server back when it still had daily players. I've only recently had an itch to get back into online gaming, so after a few less that satisfying Roll20 experiences, I downloaded the client from GOG and here I am.
I tend to like to put a bit of my experience into my characters, so I tend to have a lot of characters from Kara Tur since the region is based on the places I've spent half a decade living (I also studied abroad in China years ago).

Re: New Player? Introduce Yourself!
Hi,
New player here and excited for all the possibilities on this server! I'm playing Gulliver Goldwood, a travelling gnome druid who identifies as an Acorn of Baervan Wildwanderer! I'm also new to NWN2, but I played NWN1 for years so the transition has been (mostly) smooth. Nice to meet everyone!

Re: New Player? Introduce Yourself!
Hi! I've been on the server for a few days now getting my feet wet, and so I figured I should take the leap to introduce myself on the forums.
I have a little over a decade of experience with RP in various mediums and settings, including Forgotten Realms. This isn't my first NWN2 server, though I haven't played the game in around three years. I used to play a Red Wizard on Sundren. I was surprised to see that there is still a PW community on NWN2, especially one with so much daily activity. I had thought the end of multiplayer support would have killed NWN2, I'm glad that that isn't the case.
On BGTSCC I made a spirit shaman (Tarina Mazir). I've been taking it slow until I can get a feel for the server and community, but I've gotten a few opportunities to RP with various people. Thank you to all those I've interacted with so far.
I'm still a bit nervous, it's always hard to break into a new RP community, but I'm looking forward to getting more involved with the server.

Re: New Player? Introduce Yourself!
Hi Wagon and welcome.
First you have to patch your game to the same version (latest) but it can be a bit problematic. After that you can connect to the server and patiently wait for the missing files to download. File downloading happens on the first time and when there has been changes to the files.
Perhaps these posts on the forum help you somewhat.

Patched NWN2 & large hak files can be downloaded here
Normally when you log into the server it will check your files and download necessary files automatically. After that it will prompt you to choose character or create new one.

Re: New Player? Introduce Yourself!
Figured I'd take the plunge and post a quick little hello. I'd consider my self a D&D Newb as I'm relatively new to NW, I've played a few other of the D&D games and have done a little bit of lore reading. I'm sorta in the midst of trying to find a server to call home and from what I've seen, you guys are one of the -if not the- best ones around. Don't have a character name yet, because I still have to do some creative writing on that part. But I'll be sure to update this post when I do. ^.^

Re: New Player? Introduce Yourself!
Hello everyone. I started this Sunday with a dwarf 'Lonnie Stoneturtle'. I have already enjoyed quite a bit of RP and had a chance to share bits of my backstory in game with a few people.
Thanks a ton to the players who make it easy to join up, and those who showed me around on my first day.
A few comments on first impressions on the server. The BG area is super newb friendly... so many NPC's direct you towards quests, and some areas have CR ratings in the travel icon name. I really appreciate a server that eases that experience.
I tried a character breifly in the underdark. It is the opposite... no one knows where the quests are, no indication of where to go. Spent awhile dying down there. Ouch. I saw the forum guide on how to get a start in the underdark, and I will try it later. Still, it would fairly easy to make it more fun for people new to the underdark.
Also, when creating a new character, they ask you where you are from. There is no indication that this seemingly background related choice can really bone a noob. I choose 'I am from the Northern Frontier' and it spawned me in a high level place. The merchants had no non-magic gear to buy, there were no low CR places to go, and I spend about 300 Gold travelling back and forth on the caravans trying to get to Baldur's Gate, but could not find a route. It sucked. Good thing that was not my first exprience on the server, I would've written it off as poorly designed.
Maybe just a better indication for new players when picking their land of origin that the only choice a new player should really make is The Docks/Harbor.
Anyway, nice to meet you all. I look forward to all the fun RP in the future.

Re: New Player? Introduce Yourself!
Hello, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself as I am new to this game. My fiancee has recently convinced me to play with him so here I am. After hours of deliberation, I think I have decided to create a ranger type character (likely human or wild elf) with a pet companion. I have found a couple of build options but any advice on this type of character would be appreciated. I have played many video games with him in the past, however, this is my first foray into RPing so advice on that would be phenomenal too. Hopefully I will see you all soon in-game.

Hey all, my name's Mark, I'm 26, and I've played PnP DND since early 3.0. I've played NWN1 for a while but this is my first foray into a Persistent world, also first time hopping online in NWN2. I'm quite the Roleplayer and I don't do powerbuilds, but I do try and min/max the best out of my RP concepts. Current Character is Arden, he's fun to play and fun to RP. Looking forward to making some memories in-game and also looking forward to all the future work you DMs are planning. Because as I've seen with my short time here, the community and the BGTSCC team has created something to stand the test of time through community, hard work, and patience. Just hoping to find myself nestled in soon.
