Attack decreased debuff with every attack

Every time i attack with longbow, longsword, warhammer, i get attack decreased. For melee weapons i also get attack obstructed message. Some other weapon types can have this problem too.

This appears to be a part of the melee and ranged combat changes implemented. There have been a few posts about this and generally it seems it's not a mechanic most are fond of.

Sorry, but this mechanic is utter rubbish. Get rid of it already.
Schrödinger's Cyricism: NPCs simultaneously know everything and nothing about Cyric until observed by the Cyricist. Then they default to the state that disadvantages the Cyricist the most.

So the ranged component stays ? Is this a joke ?

Didn't the community vote against this feature in your poll, Rasael ? I see the votes are 11 to 10 here. And now that people can make a more educated decision, I bet the difference would become much larger.

I've been getting significant attack bonus penalties at near-melee range. Like... a penalty of 6. Are you sure it's working?

You shouod get a ranged penalty if you are attacking from farther than the original range limit. If you dont want it, moving slightly closer gets rid of it. Unless you were using it in melee?
Does the OOBI PRC help to mitigate that penalty? Is there any thought to making feats that can reduce that? Or is it just hey I think this is really cool? Also if it is decided that the melee feature be turned off how does this not hold true for ranged archers? Just some Q's I think are pretty solid and may be a way to seek a good intelligent conversation on this very hot topic issue that even I am not fond of but since I play mechanically optimized PCs I have not noticed an effect of this personally other than the little icon on my picture and the occasional object obstruction message near my PC.

I'm still waiting to see that melee and ranged combat system explained at all and in detail.

Mayhap then we could see more in it. - Just now i can only see penalties :?

I'm all for this but it doesn't seem to work in practice. Currently I'm getting penalties at random. -5 at medium range, +1 at max range. -6 in melee, -8 next rd at same distance, -1 shooting through a wall, etc. As someone else pointed out the NWN2 walkmesh seems to ruin any hope of this working properly.

Just my 2cp

No response to this? In the IRC there is a growing number of people at odds with the update too.
Playing other games/gave up.

That poll... was a bad idea.

For half of those features you'd need a new engine.
People that are unaware of that would get starry eyed and excited, and vote "yes", because they would imagine some awesome perfectly working mechanic in their head.

The last jegs version is nigh-unusable and glitches out on almost all abilities. I tested that dervish build I mentioned earlier, and it misfires all of its abilities, cleave and greater cleave doesn't work on point blank range ("attack blocked"). Judging by situation on the forums, whatever happens on the server is somewhat similar.

So it would be the best to only implement features that fit well into nwn2 framework/limitations. Cover system is not one of those, even when used for ranged component.

Or, I don't know, you guys could try funding development of replacement engine for nwn2.Something like that can be done these days, since there are free engines on the market.
