Incantatrix/Incantatar

Unread post by AnchorUp »

Hello,

With the new spell introductions in abjuration, divination, ward and portal spells, im wondering, what the closest incarnation of this class would be:

http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Incantatrix

I think the RP would be phenomonal: metamagic expert, portal scout, outsider hunter, etc

Im thinking maybe Wiz 10/Asoc 10/Archmage 10? Up to epic spell focus for abjuration and maybe greater spell focus in divintion. Prohibited school i would probably choose enchantment.

Any tips or build advice from the lore and build experts?

Would this class combination survive in PvE?

Edit: or maybe the conjuration school would be more appropriate as the opposed school

Edit 2: is it against server rules to say that his profession would be an incantator?

Incantatrix, whose male equivalent is the Incantatar,[1] is a special prestige class whose members are the most skilled practitioners of metamagic.
That sounds totally like Arcane Scholar to me. Should be good.

Prohibited school should probably be conjuration, as they are so strongly against planar visitors.

Don't think there are any server rules to prevent you from claiming to be an incantatar.

I'm not saying this to be mean, but that is the rule.

To be fair, I meant it more as an IG profession/career, if that helps?

Oh, I don't mind. I think that's perfectly fine. Arcane scholar seems to be the best choice, and if you get a high CL your dismissal will also be pretty strong. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss conjuration though, since that's where you get the planar binding spells which can be RP choices. But sure, dismissal is more important (and better than banishment).

Thank you karond. The additions of the great abjuration spells make taking all the epic spell focus feats in the abjuration school very tempting, but would that gimp my wizard in PvE as I think this would definitely be a DC wizard

Edit: Im not concerned much with PvP as I do not plan on doing much, if any, of that

Yes, it will gimp you. Since those feats only apply to banishment and dismissal in that school, just don't take them. Dismissal is superior to banishment and is the spell you want to use, and each +CL is equal to a spell focus abjuration feat when it comes to dismissal's effect.

So, just try and get a high CL instead. It helps with other spells, with spell resistance and protects against being dispelled, so it's far more useful.

I did say "claiming", didn't I?

Also, he asked about profession, not class choices. You don't have to have the Dread Lord class to be a Dread Lord.

If you want to make me look stupid and inconsistent, you have to try harder than that.
