Okay, so I am thrilled to be able to enchant my potato, but exactly how does it work? Many of the descriptions are pretty vague in terms of doing so. Here's a list of the questions about enchanting that I drew up:
1. Theoretically, wouldn't the enchanting spells for equipment be part of the enchanting school? or Universal?
2. Why did my Protection Rune fail on said pally helm?
3. Do i have to take a feat in order to enchant equipment?
4. Is there a special place or certain conditions other then priming in order to enchant?
5. Is it possible to place enchantment runes on yourself? If not, maybe a merchant who could do something like that?
6. Where can i find merchants who sell the scrolls for the enchanting equipment spells?
7. Would it be efficient to buy a cheap weapon for roughly 30 gold and enchant it from scratch? Or would it be better to start with say a Lesser Viper?
8. What is the formula for the price that determins the gold lost upon priming and enchanting?

Re: The New Enchanting Mechanic Questions
Easy answer. Enchanting is for QC (the testing team) only. It is supposed to be disabled for players.
What we have is the 'infrastructure' for what will become the Enchanting System in the months to come.
Rasael has assured us that these spells can be chosen with this prospect in mind (although they don't work yet!).

Re: The New Enchanting Mechanic Questions
1. Theoretically, wouldn't the enchanting spells for equipment be part of the enchanting school? or Universal?
Answer - Universal, I believe... Enchantment denotes school for placing spells upon other people, not sure it relates to Permanently endowing items with magic... Even if it did, I still think they will be universal.
2. Why did my Protection Rune fail on said pally helm?
Answer - Because Enchanting is not live. Unless you are QC using a QC character you will not be able to cast any of these spells. Plus you would need to cast Imbue Item before any other enchanting spells will stick (note Imbue Item will also remove existing enchantments).
3. Do i have to take a feat in order to enchant equipment?
Answer - Currently no, but this might (probably will) change before implementation/go live.
4. Is there a special place or certain conditions other then priming in order to enchant?
Answer - Currently no, this may change.
5. Is it possible to place enchantment runes on yourself? If not, maybe a merchant who could do something like that?
Answer - no merchant, has to be done by a PC Wizard casting the spells on weapons/armor/items.
6. Where can i find merchants who sell the scrolls for the enchanting equipment spells?
Answer - You can't.
7. Would it be efficient to buy a cheap weapon for roughly 30 gold and enchant it from scratch? Or would it be better to start with say a Lesser Viper?
Answer - currently Imbue item wipes existing enchantments so better to start with a clean slate rather than waste your lesser viper.
8. What is the formula for the price that determins the gold lost upon priming and enchanting?
Answer - No idea.
All of these answers are, of course probably moot since we are not going to implement in it's current form. Changes will be made, some of which may look nothing like the current system, but since your curious, this is what I can tell you for now.

Re: The New Enchanting Mechanic Questions
You do have to have the feats. It doesn't appear to matter because you still see the options. But the DC will be impossible unless you have the required feats.3. Do i have to take a feat in order to enchant equipment?
Answer - Currently no, but this might (probably will) change before implementation/go live.
The DC is visible in the options radial that pops up. I verified this a few times, because at some point I forgot we had enabled the requirement and was puzzled why I couldn't make an enchanted sword.
I may have since changed it to just stop displaying options that are impossible. We'll have to decide which way makes more sense.
Learning the spell is independent from being able to successfully use it. That isn't very intuitive, but its how PnP and NWN2 work.

Re: The New Enchanting Mechanic Questions
Okay, so which feat(s) would allow for enchanting? And might there be a skill called "Enchanting" or would we simply use Spellcraft/lore?
