You're right; but you're wrong. There both are lots of people at level 30 already and 'dedicated levellers' who can still get there in short order. They aren't going to go away, so as has already been pointed out, it's the rest who suffer...Steve wrote:What is the point of once leveling a PC to 30, you get a forever lvl 30 rebuild?
It is already ridiculous the number of lvl 30 toons on Baldur's Gate...and essentially killing off the RP that occurs when you have a weak, nobody PC that needs to both prove and earn their place in society, just puts the RP environment that much deeper into the trash can.

This Server is choke full of lvl 30 twenty somethings that will never die, but will never get better, either.

100% RCR means somebody can die, then come back as an epic somebody else. Would be weird.

Re: SuggestIon: Keep 100% rcr
I am in favor of keeping it at 100%. I am trying to be a realist here but I think the max we can hope for is up to level 25. I think this would aid arcane users the most over a well built gishy style. Maybe might get some more pure fighters at that rate being as getting up to level 25 or more can be a bit of pain and I know level 25 seems to be the sweet spot for a lot of builds to realize full potential most of the time.
As far as DEATH being meaningful I thin real life provides enough of that already the whole point of a game is to escape that reality. If you really have issues finding meaning with death go jump out a plane some time or something else of the adrenaline nature........

Thus there is no value when there are infinite lives, none but Player-decided Permadeath, and max attainment of max power by...fishing.

ummmmmmm......I don't play this game to feel accomplished.......Again that is a RL endeavor of which I have already done. I play here because of IMAGINATION!!! What a concept.....Accomplishments are only truly worthy if there was a risk or sacrifice involved.

The whole point may very well be that magic exists and so do dragons and that really doesn't matter.....WHY? Because MAGIC, GODS and other things that just do not exist. So in the grand scheme of things it is all trivial and in and of itself brings one away from plausibility in the first place. It is a release and doesn't have to hold any meaning true or not....

Then why do you bother trying to have your Toon make any sort of difference?Calodan wrote:I don't play this game to feel accomplished.......

A release is Duke Nukem. Pac-man. Super Mario Ninja Turtles.
BGTSCC provides an environment and a forum to create a story that actually shapes the environment and forum. No meaning means the effort, the very activity of emoting—not to mention actually crafting storylines that further shape and affect the storylines of other Players, and directly their toons—is wasted.
Furthermore, if there is no meaning, then why even worry about level 30 attainment? Or conversely, why not just let everyone begin at lvl 30, cause hey...GETTING to level 30 is actually meaningless.

To be fair, it's hardly QC's role to have any say about how to RP their characters, and the same is true for DMs. DMs have limited control over this, since this is not a hardcore RP server.Steve wrote: Negs...this is NOT directed to you, so please, no offense. Honestly though, you should praise the 100% and lobby for it Steve. Dying permanently is annoying to people that put many months into levelling something up. However, if they keep their XP, it seems like its more likely that people will take that "I'm mortal, not invincible" approach

Re: SuggestIon: Keep 100% rcr
1: We can do a poll on all of these topics, but primarily if we should keep the 100% RCR, Lower it a bit to say 90%, 100% but at a time limit, or remain 50%...
2: I think a 90% RCR or so within the span of a week per person, or something equivalent would be the best option.
3: Exp rates are low but they do add meaning. Maybe an easy compromise is raising the rate by a very small amount? An extra 10 exp per kill? 200 Exp per entering a new zone the character has yet to be in? 50 Exp for crafting anything? Or how about a mechanic that grants bonus RP EXP rates the longer you stay in a zone chatting (capping at 50 exp per counter)?
4: Was NOT AWARE I could RCR and change their name... Otherwise I woulda Added "Wayfare" to Lucas' surname...
5: Maybe we could a quality control DM online once in a while to inspect if people are playing powerbuilds or creating a maddened Blood Mage-Eldritch Knight-Thurmage? If but to simply get their invoice on why they are building what they are building.
6: Sorry for posting in numerical format

Not my problem.
All journeys end. So when you no longer see the point, it is time to kill your char.
However, there's no reason to punish people for playing before that happens. There are better ways to "shape the world" than grinding 24 hours per day and running errands.
Nah. That "epic somebody else" can affect the serves the same way as everybody else. Also, that would be a good reason for established characters to keep on their toes.NeOmega wrote:100% RCR means somebody can die, then come back as an epic somebody else. Would be weird.

Fine. I'll get behind a 100% RCR tool...but only if there is a 10% failure built into the act.Karond wrote:Honestly though, you should praise the 100% and lobby for it Steve.
