A second thought on the attacks happening on the weekend.

This is an adult that works Monday through Friday. And a very lonely one at that. Because he has all too much time to keep doing this over and over again on the weekends.

Probably some butt hurt scripter or something. Good lord.

Is it just me or does the website seem slower too?

Not dead, just very high ping - so its not far off 'dead' but its more accurate to say its more like epic lag.

I did some ping tests on a few servers on scry, I noticed a few other servers are also suffering from high ping (lag) so are no more stable than us; which means the DDOS attacks are attacking more than one server, though some smaller servers are uneffected.

For ref a good healthy ping should be between 12ms to 45ms; anything higher than 45 will cause some lag, and anything higher than 90 is where things get very lagy.

Here are a few ping tests from BGSCC (taken throughout the week)

As you can see our ping has been as high as 240ms, which is so slow; you would be lucky to get past the login screen, even at 100ms you would still be rubber banding with huge delays...

I remember what bloodlust said when he ruined a long planed event months back...
Mac: "I Hate this guy Blood."
Bloodlust: "He probably hates himself."
To which I replied, "not as much as I hate him..." :) But now, I don't let it get me upset. That's what he wants and if we let him get under our skin.
then the bad guys have won.

Could you send me a list of the servers that are being attacked? Knowing the grouping of servers that this person targets only slims the list of who it could be.

The Speed of Light presents an interesting theoretical limit on latency. If you assume no packet switching or routing delays, you could calculate the theoretical minimum Internet Control Message Protocol echo request response time from Berkeley to Boston, MA as follows:

Distance from Berkeley to Boston: 4983km4983km
Speed of light in a vacuum: 3∗108m/s3∗108m/s
Speed of light in fibre: .66∗3∗108m/s=2∗108m/s.66∗3∗108m/s=2∗108m/s
Time to go one way from Berkeley to Boston: 4983km/2∗108m/s=24.9ms4983km/2∗108m/s=24.9ms
Round trip time: 2∗24.9ms=49.8ms2∗24.9ms=49.8ms

Realistically, you can expect to add a fudge factor of about 30 ms for switch queueing delays, imperfect transmission media, cosmic rays, etc., so you'd typically see ping times of about 80 ms from east coast to west coast in the USA.
Not caring to do the math myself but I know the ping between our two offices is between 50-111 and that does not impact our connection to our varying servers.

Less than 20 is going to be within a small local network (few cables/switches and not much else). Home network you are very possible to see less.

I've hit 3 other servers on the top of the list and am currently downloading one of the mod files for another to test, I've not run into any issues with moving around or switching zones.

Just putting this out there. I have a BA in Digital Security on top of a CCNA, MCSE, Security+, and CISSP certifications. How can I help?
