You should RP bigotry, suspicion, and hatred according to what the backstory of your character would deem most sensible. A character that lived their entire life in a city (or spent their years adventuring) may have a more cosmopolitan view than others, but if you spent all your time living in the woods you may not. I try to follow this method in-character, but I generally PM the player so they know I was simply roleplaying and not being an arse.

Example: My Uthgardt warrior despises orcs because of where she grew up, the Spine of the World has a problem with rampaging orc hordes. However she was fine with Tieflings because she had no idea what they were, she thought they were half-animal and since she came from a tribe that revered animal totems this was a good thing. She only turned against the Tiefling when they mentioned they were part demon.
Likewise, the Uthgardt don't have much experience with arcane magic so she distrusts wizards. But she does not hate warlocks any more than sorcerors because she doesn't know what a warlock is. They're all 'wizmen' to her.

So in general, just do what makes most sense to your characters history.

I have played locks here when they were targeted, and when they were ignored and I would say before we start the witch hunts again let's have some guidelines for people determining eldritch spells are exactly that, especially now that warlocks have invocations which ARE arcane spells (firestride exhalation for one).

How do you know a eldritch blast (ray) is not some other kind of ray attack? Don't say purple cuz none of mine are. The combat log is not a valid source of this information.

I have tried rolling a racist character and all that happens is everyone is immediately against you if you hate on drow, orc, or tiefling. They don't care about the setting because their character is enlightened and understands humanism and such. The result is I stopped bothering. I cannot defeat the fifteen elves, six dwarves, and thirty humans in an argument alone nor can I beat them in the inevitable pvp if I attack the demon summoning drow hellfire warlock.

I even tried to kill a drow once only to have a DM intervene and use NPC paladins to protect it and try to kill my elf. It just isn't worth it so I stopped. This aspect of the setting is dead.

I can see how some people may have an issue with RPing with PCs of tieflings or orc race, properly for the setting and for our sever specifically, since so many want to play them as cuddly, helpful, paladin-ish types. There are so many goodly tieflings and grey orcs running around offering everyone they see a helping hand and a kiss on the cheek and on the flip side so many evil elves and aasimar (really, though? how many moody, pissed off, brooding fair-folk are there in the BG area?).

I remember a time when you couldn't be at the FAI without some goodly grey orc walking up and asking people if they wanted to buy a flower (Free hugs included with purchase). Then when people RP'd proper response to a semi-monster race in civilized areas, by showing distrust or hatred (Especially given that the Black Orc War wounds were still fresh), only to have the majority of the others at the FAI turn around and stand up for the monster. It's been said before, but if I played a off race, like a tiefling or orc, I'd want people to treat me like their character would, not how they (The player) would treat another human, of a different race, in real life.

I know, this is a blanket statement and I am sure several people could chime in that they play a proper evil, neutral or good alignment for their race, but in the past there have been a lot of people playing the super snowflake in order to take advantage of some mechanical benefit of a race.

When I had a character that should be distrustful of Orcs (say) I always used to play it IC, IOW to act hostilely to such races. However the (OOC) flack that came my way (including from DMs) persuaded me that 'live and let live' was the way to go...

:| That must have been a brutal immersion day for you. And if this aspect isn't dead, it's certainly on deaths door. Say what you will about the current state of and standard for roleplay, but this is the kind of thing that makes me long for the good old days when it was only the minority of players who would occasionally coddle/defend grey orcs, necromantic summoning, and the like. And rarely(if ever) would characters suffer a drow to live, much less have a campfire-side chat with them, which tends to now be the norm.

Personally I would like to see some indisputable evil races.

Black Orcs

Abyssal Genasi

(It wouldnt be hard to reskin and texture the Genasi, the art team is more than capable)

Then make some of these races Application only, so we dont have a bunch of black orcs selling flowers.
-Insert profound statement-

Out of good ones.

I caught blowback on my paladin, people calling him a blackguard for confronting grey orcs. I didn't really get the same thing for warlocks.

I remember a couple years ago I made my gnomish wizard Mippy a warlock hunter. I was killing warlocks left right and center. Most people sided with Mippy and those that didn't got it too. I have been itching to play him again I think I still have his fliers.

Or just go ahead, and make application-only fiends available.
Although I suspect that being a DM is a better idea for this kind of thing.

Either way, I was not planning to open another can of worms regarding "proper rp of race X" (I seem to recall few similar threads from the past). Would be nice to have SOME reaction or SOME PROPER response to choice of race, class, etc.

Also, I still think it would be nice to have some warlock hunters, maybe even DM driven.

P.S. I wonder if making few highwamen would get reputation of corresponding races back where it is supposed to be.

Ah, the little dude that was messing with dead lizardmen in front of FAI? I remember that one.

This is a bent topic. OP is advocating for a more hostile role playing environment for whatever reason. Regardless of your individual opinions on the matter (which should just be exercised and role played), I don't believe we need any rhetoric supporting or condoning racism, and classism. In real life or a game.

Each player/character should easily be able to think for their self. Just try to remember Lawful Stupid and Chaotic Moron are not an alignment.

Is there a surface starting area where someone could make an evil character? For example, is there a starting region where I can grind a level 1 evil orc barbarian and never have to bother with the laws of goody-goody Baldur's Gate? Because if there is, I'm making Evil McBashStab as soon as the DDoS stops.
