One where we pact to delete our characters in the event of a full party wipe would be even better. It's more fun when you have to face real consequences.
very much +1. I'm keen on this idea also.

What size group is this intended for? If there's "too much" interest, there could be enough people to form a rival adventuring party for some healthy competition, RP, and prospect of PvP.

I'm ok with this... I have a Sacred Fist of Loviatar I've been itching to create if that doesn't double a role or anything... BRING THE PAIN!!! :P

I'm thinking about a caster personally.

Hellfire warlock may be the one, but, would that fit in?

Seems to be much more people interested than I expected. If we can get 8-12 people we can do something like split it in two groups as suggested, but you'd have to give me some time to come up with an idea and a proper hook for two rivaling groups. Though then it becomes much more complex and requires more co-ordination. It's kinda late here and I'm too tired to think right now. Let's see how many people overall would want in on this and then try to organize ourselves sometime after Easter?

Well, at first my idea was to have my character hire a group of lowbie adventurers to do some adventuring for him. Grab something from a dungeon, clear out a particular dungeon, escort a wizard to a certain dungeon while the said wizard does wizardy stuff etc. plenty of possibilities. That gives the characters a tie in to form a bond and a classic adventuring party. After that, it would all depend on RP. I'd strive to come up with more adventuring goals for the party, perhaps even weaving a loosely connected story between the jobs. There are plenty of possibilities on how things could play out. It could end up with my character fully sponsoring a party of shady corrupt adventurers, doing stuff for him... or perhaps he will end up with several mortal enemies, set on ending him. Or maybe the party will have inner conflict, part of them lusting for more riches, and part of them having moral dilemmas about doing work for a zhent... Really, it's all down to RP after the initial setup.

I am also completely open to those playing the party members coming up with their own pre-made party and the background of the party.

Well with whats going on with the server we got plenty time to plan!

I really like the idea of it being like a real adventure group as you would in a campaign, and you/someone sends out on quests based on whatever it is concept we come up with, whether we are a group of adventurers seeking a powerful artifact, working for a powerful master, working against another group who might be a rival thieves guild, perhaps seeking to become more powerful due to a dragon burning down their village and end game is getting revenge, but whatever happenes before then.

Endless stuff to think of, probably best to have it vague and let the rp carry it.

Very exciting, might be worth looking at people where they live/time slots and pop them together that way rather than "I want to be with my besties" gives a chance for new people to meet older and vice versa, and yeah, alts, 100%.

generally I can be on weekdays 13.00-20.00, but it depends on work, meetings, travel, etc... weekends generally aren't good for me. If most others have play times that are different I can be left out, no worries.

I don't think it's a good idea to break up into different groups at the start. Better to let the characters work that out IG. Maybe have them all connected through a curse or some powerful spell, forcing them to work together at times if they ever hope to be rid of it.

Just a though! :)

I would like to see if I can fit into this as well. I have been wanting to make a druid, but would roll anything needed to round a group. if times are set and I cannot make them. it is no big deal.
FYI I am fairly new to this game and have not done a DM guided event before. I did play PnP when I was younger, so am familiar with rules and so forth.

My wife and I are both interested. We're new to BG, and she's new to NWN2. We're available weekends from 1600-0400 GMT.
She prefers to play healers. I don't have a preference.

i think it would be fun to roll up new characters. decide a time to log in. and let a DM run a quest to get the hook. from there we can just create a schedule that works for us and go from there. maybe the DM can leave us with things to work on together. just an idea. i am good with whatever though.
