Suggestion: Improve Assassin or Blackguard CL for Dispels
So I have an assassin (but the same applies in some regard to the blackguard) with 10 levels and even practiced spell caster assassin so the buffs last 14 minutes. However, with the new dispel fix, I lose pretty much every single buff after one dispel. I realize that, yes, they are 'spells' so therefore susceptible to dispels but it almost makes having spells on them worthless. I try to do things like HiPS to avoid dispels but it's inevitable that I'll get hit with at least one.
My suggestion would be to either a) exclude them from getting dispelled (like supernatural abilities which is kinda what the original class had before getting a spell book) or do something like double their caster level including doubling practiced spellcaster so that max they would have a 28 caster level which would still get dispelled some but not every single time. The duration wouldn't have to be doubled, just CL check on dispel.
I'd be open to other suggestions but for someone whose invested in the full 10 assassin (or blackguard) levels, it would be nice to not have our extremely limited spell book be wiped every time. And by limited, I use mainly ghostly visage, cats grace, fox's cunning, and freedom of movement with the occasional invis or greater invis thrown in when necessary.

atm i cant come close to any dispelling mob as pretty much all my CL19 buffs are gone in one dispel, so i would propose something like:
- dispel should only work on a % of active buffs and not all (let's say only half of them)
- also dispels should remove something no matter the CL imo, like 1 for lesser/ 2 greater and 3 disjunction + CL/10 as max dispels allowed. (scrolls and wands should not be affected by cl)

Rangers and Paladins are also suffering iirc. I think it has more to do with so many creatures having access to dispels as well as their supernatural ability to detect whose CL they can beat.

well the AI cheats and metagames info like a boss, nothing to do about that
and rangers and paladins are also being looked at, they already have full progression but their issue is that it doesnt start till they get their first spell which means pure classes are still under 30 CL

I can't speak for Paladins, but playing Rangers consistently I can tell you, we really don't need it. Rangers are still the easiest class to level on this entire server. Perhaps with this change, Favored Souls might have taken up that mantle, but I have just leveled up my Ranger from 1-19 in warp speed (about 2 months, playing only 2 hours - 4 hours, every other day), even with this change!Blackman D wrote:well the AI cheats and metagames info like a boss, nothing to do about that![]()

RANGERS DON"T NEED EVEN MORE LOVE! For God's sake, instead of boosting classes that are already strong, or talking about nerfing other strong classes and therefore upsetting people, please work on the under-powered classes (barbarian, swashbuckler, etc....). This way, you increase the class distribution and improve diversity on this server.

B.O. Rangers and Paladins should be treated the same. While running around in stealth is convenient and makes questing far easier, they are also dependent on their spells to help them out. Assuming Mithral Full Plate, 20 DEX (from cat's grace) on a TWF Ranger AC might be:
10 + 5 (MFP) +4 (Bracers of Armor) +5 (DEX) + 4 (Dodge) +4 (Halo) +5 (Barkskin) +3 (assuming LoH and Protective Ward w/at least 24 Ranger) +1 (TW Defense) = 41... However, upon dispel it drops to 32. In addition, not everyone has +4 dodge boots so the numbers could be 40/31... Now, players could use a NA ammy and deflection item, but then if they don't have access to +4 versions they are stuck at 37.
Your Ranger may be fine without his spells, but players of new Rangers probably rely on them quite heavily. Paladins and Rangers are both listed as 30 CL so I'm hopeful it is returned to both (and this doesn't impact my main as he isn't pure so is very dispellable no matter what.) Please allow me to further elaborate, my character is an Earth Genasi with all +4 AC equipment, mithral BP (so, for that part I give you credence) but nothing other than store bought weapons and accessories currently.chad878262 wrote:B.O. Earth Genasi importance: it receives +1 ECL, which makes it further ridiculous that I have leveled him 20 levels in about 75 hours (running maybe one round of quests per month) and Rping at least 15 of those hours with his guild mates.
Earth Genasi +1 ECL is a bit of a joke, considering that Wood Elves have no ECL, despite gaining +2 Strength, +2 Dexterity, at the expense of only -2 Int, with no second attribute nerf (despite PnP they are to loose in Charisma) and finally, their favored class is Ranger.
Their seems to be a lot of justification of mechanical changes to the game due to PnP, versus game balancing issues ad nauseam. Here is my point, Rangers shouldn't have full caster progression anyways. They are, even without spells, quite viable, if not amongst the top of the PvE food chain without much help with spells. I can not speak to the mechanics of Paladins, so I don't.
In my opinion, there are a lot better things that the Team can be focusing on to help increase RP diversity through mechanics, such as helping lagging classes, as opposed to helping the rich get richer! It just seems to be class warfare at it's finest

Wood elves get -2 CON/INT. Rangers/paladin have always been stated to get full cl on this server.

Ah, you are right, I apologize for having forgotten about the constitution reduction. Still, in PnP they are to have Charisma lessened as well. Also, other Races which gain +2 advantages in multiple attributes are all given ECL, Wood Elves are not. But, to add credence to my original point, my Earth Genasi (which is a weaker Race than Wood Elf mechanically for Ranger Class) with his +1 ECL was able to get to level 20 playing a Ranger at warp speed, when there are races out there without the ECL strike which could do it even faster.chad878262 wrote: Wood elves get -2 CON/INT. Points:
1.) If you want more PnP alignment for this server, Rangers don't get full casting
2.) If you want more Class Balance on this server, work on bringing up the weaker classes, stop working on helping the stronger classes

If Aasimars did not have +1ECL and I was speaking on how fast I leveled my Earth Genasi +1ECL Paladin, I would use Aasimars for my example.
