Telling players that they should stay in game if they want to get revived
Too many times I have seen corpse laying about that I cannot do anything to. which bothered me to no end.

It can take a while sometimes to get raised, and other times, people may not be in the mood to get raised, go through thanking their raiser, etc.

I can confirm; at low levels players will take the hit - but after level 10 players become VERY hypersensitive, boderline paranoid unless they are very confident in what they are doing, or in a group.NeOmega wrote:It can take a while sometimes to get raised, and other times, people may not be in the mood to get raised, go through thanking their raiser, etc.
Death is painfully damaging in this game, with 30 exp per kill (roughly) thats roughly 670 kills to level from 19 - 20 if each kill takes you 5 sec, dying at level 20 means you LOSE 5 hours and 50 mins worth of work in mere moments.
Some players I have seen waiting to be revived for hours, and hours - just so they don't take the exp hit; some just go AFK and pray. People are not stupid, they can normally find the NPC to go back to the surface/underdark but for low levels it is much easier to just take the exp hit.

What I mean is that players should know that AFK while the game is closed WILL NOT get you raised.trogers2 wrote:I can confirm; at low levels players will take the hit - but after level 10 players become VERY hypersensitive, boderline paranoid unless they are very confident in what they are doing, or in a group.NeOmega wrote:It can take a while sometimes to get raised, and other times, people may not be in the mood to get raised, go through thanking their raiser, etc.

You need to AFK while the game is running, minimized maybe.
There should be a sign post telling new players that.

Just a reminder:
Its a lot less painful to talk to Myrkul and accept the exp hit than break this rule.

Its a game mechanism, I was not talking about we should send tells to friends to revive us. I was talking about letting people know basic server rules.DM Pun Pun wrote:Just a reminder:

Many new player when talking to Myrkul, they think, "Ok I will wait here for someone to rescue me" then they EXIT THE GAME. this is the issue I am talking about. While they should remain in game.
I want a sign post that only says
Is this breaking the rule?"You will be able to get raised only if you stay in the game"

Re: There should be a sign post in fugue
Corpses might be due to that new players might think that if a reset passes, they do not have to pay XP?
It may also be that someone logs out IE a rage-quit.
Or someone might have avoided death altogether IE tried logging out just before the character dies which is a hit & miss tactic.
This should be in the suggestion forum BTW. Duster47 does these kind of things and by putting it in General Discussion, you have kind of removed it from the Developer's view. Ask a DM to move the thread. I personally think an OOC message in the Fugue is a bit silly and the Fugue is still an IC area. It is quite clear to me that if you are logged out - you are no longer IG and cannot be interacted with - which is the case in most MMORPGS.

I have not seen or heard of anyone who did this and expected to be raised while offline.zyztem wrote: then they EXIT THE GAME.
Also, if you reconnect later it might be possible to raise you, as long as the corpse is still present.
I think that either Myrkul says something along those lines, or there's a "Stay here and wait to be raised" dialogue option in the resurrection dialogue.zyztem wrote: I want a sign post that only says
I think your suggestion might make more sense as an OOC warning in myrkul dialogue tree instead of OOC sign.
Of course, it is always possible to put "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." sign with OOC explanation in examine menu.
