Unread post by sobebop »

this is the 2nd time this week that ive been in a party, not out soloing and died due to a server crash. from my perspective i was fine and then crashed to the desktop, when i log back in i am told i have to go to the fugue...

can anything be done about this or do i just have to continue taking huge xp hits, even though im rping and traveling in groups and not solo grinding?!

Is this a server crash, or a local crash?

Sounds local, since he says he crashed to the desktop.

My point being, I had/have a major problem with the GOG Complete Download version on my laptop. It causes me to crash consistently at transitions and sometimes just IG but only when I use the Skywing Client for some reason. When I use the regular NWN2 startup the game does not crash but the graphics gets real bouncy, or at least that just started happening since about two updates ago, before the graphics were fine

So, it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario.

Metamagics on the hotbars causes these crashes, most likely. The Client Extension fixes this bug.

Do you use the /mpredict command?

I had this issue, but was able to fix it by replacing/reinstalling the granny2.dll file at the direction (and with help from) Steve. Ever since then I haven't had a single CTD issue. You could try doing the same as it sounds like your issue is exactly the same as the one I had.

This is interesting. One of the reasons I've stayed away from casters is that I tend to crash/freeze all the time when playing them. When I relog I lose all my buffs and can't rest. I run sky wings but I do not know what the predict command is. I don't typically put any spells on my hot bar though.

Maybe Chad's suggestion might work? Otherwise, you just type /mpredict in the chatbox. To save you from typing it in every time you start the game, you can do something about that too:

It is possible to create "autocmds.txt" file in your <My Documenta>/Neverwinter Nights 2 folder, and client extender will execute commands from that file every time you start the game

I put /mpredict there (to turn off predictive movement), because I hate it.

For details see "Automatic Command Sending" in ClientExtensionReadme.txt

From what I recall, latest version of Skywing's adds/mpredict by default.
