Re: Server down?
Lagging badly again already. Seems to come and go.
Edit: Probably not helped by lots of idiots logging off and back on.

Re: Server down?
Timed out 18:14 server time. Large number of people and spell casting at the OOC room probably doesn't help.

Re: Server down?
^ What they said. We're getting about 5 - 10 minutes worth of spikes followed by the server resetting. With so many new player names on the list I can't help but wonder if some of the lag is due to players sharing routers.
There are no level 30's, only level 20's with benefits...

Re: Server down?
There was another large performance spike. We'll keep an eye on it. Do try to get out of the Nexus ASAP, though, when we have high player populations. It does put pressure on the server having so many instances/connections communicating back and forth with each other in a single area.
That is, it is a lot of work for the server having 50+ people casting spells and triggering abilities in the Nexus.
I don't think that's what's causing the crashes today though.

No, probably not. But there ought to be a metric that persuades people to leave. How about steady gold drain if you're there more than 5 minutes?
Say 1% a minute?

If it's a serious problem couldn't people just be sent to their home location or a default place on the server after a specific count, and then a second area for muling and DM-related stuff be made with a transition from the nexus

All servers have such an area that you go to after a re-boot, so I suspect that there's a good reason.
What I don't get is why so many people *want* to hang around the Nexus. I feel there must be a nefarious reason.

Down again >.> And I think it is because people are 'waiting' to see if the server will stay up - thats my thoery anyway.Thorsson wrote:All servers have such an area that you go to after a re-boot, so I suspect that there's a good reason.

Re: Server down?
It doesn't appear to be a DDOS, no. Either someone's possibly sharing a router, or something in the new scripts is causing issues.
I'll ask the DMs to do a few router reminder shouts, and if that doesn't work, I'll point our developer and programmer at the crashing to see if they can figure out what might be behind it.

You might be onto something Maecius; while in a party - when exchanging wards, some of them seem to make me crash (not sure which one) I am not sure if this is worth looking into but hopefully it'll give you a starting point.Maecius wrote:It doesn't appear to be a DDOS, no.
