Should I RCR or can I RCR at 100%?

Unread post by Choggs »

New player here guys I'm learning but it's a process. I RCR my only character on this server 2 or 3 levels ago. I picked the wrong feats was my reason for doing the RCR. I was going for 20 bar/10 fighter. Someone suggest a build and to pick able learner. I'm not sure if that's ok? Did it screw up my build? I've already RCRed once on this server. Will I be able to do it again for 100%?

Able learner may not be a build killer or is it?

Appreciate some advice...

I would suggest that you make a build using http://nwn2db.com

Make an account, make the build using either Storm of Zehir or Kaedrin's (just remember that Kaedrin's has A LOT of things which are not on the server and there are some extra feats for some classes and opened up skills etc).

Post the build here in a new thread and say what idea your are after.

Alternatively, you can make a thread and state your idea and others can show you builds.

If you are not so comfortable building, asking others for advice is great as it ensures there is nothing 'wrong' or you have forgotten something. Actually, it is always good to let someone check your build... sometimes you just stare yourself a bit blind. ((For example, I forgot to make room for Extend Spell on a mage...))

As for the RCR, you can RCR a character as many times as you want with the 100% RCR refund. There will be an announcement when it returns back to the usual 50%. Just remember to ask someone else to hold your items (no campfires!) and to transfer your gold as well.

Pfft no campfires, you gotta learn how to be a high roller and cry when you lose all your items. (Manly tear).
Nomster's post should be a sticky for new people.

You can still use fires you should have to be sneaky about it. I wont say exactly how to do it but it is possible in the nexus to build a fire that is completely hidden from view. As long as no one sees you go to the special location to build it or are not paying attention you can make a stealth fire and rarely if ever have anyone steal from it. The other trick that comes into play is speed character building. You want to build your character as fast as possible and get him back into the nexus as soon as possible. Every second you spend making your character increases the risk that someone will discover your stealth fire. Additionally you could build a decoy fire out in the open so that all the thieves go for it and not your real fire. Building multiple fires will really mess with their heads. So far though I have not needed such elaborate measures.

If you take fighter you should take 11 levels min. Gets you a mastery feat (I think it's 11 or 12? It's been a while since I built a fighter.)

I have always been able to find someone who can help with an RCR. Even complete strangers will help, because at some point, they will need a hand too.

Fires are NOT safe when the server crashes. There can also only be 1 campfire made by 1 character.

The way to do it is to either be two players, one player drops things into a campfire and the other picks them up ASAP (instantly) and clicks on PC Tool's Save Character option every now and then. The other method is the barter window (the only flaw is how often it cancels itself). Save Character should be clicked after each barter window transaction.

Lost items due to carelessness are not reimbursed, so why take risks.
